    Days Off

Hi There, I had my surgery on Friday, March 26, 2010 and had planned on returning to work on the Monday, March 29, 2010. I did however, end up calling in sick on the Monday and returned to the office on Tuesday, March 30, 2010. I think it was more from the anesthetic and the pain in my back and shoulder from the gas used during the surgery. I was extremly sleepy for the first two days, found it really hard to stay awake for any period longer than 2 hours. Just felt really punky. I feel great now and am looking forward to my first fill. Hope this helps and Good Luck with your surgery!

    100lbs gone!!

Congratulations! You are an Inspiration. I was banded March 26, 2010 and I am scheduled for my first fill on April 24, 2010. I hope I can work as hard and achieve amazing results like you have.
  7. I was banded 03/26/2010 and I am just at 2 weeks post op. I had during the first week an a half off sharp pain in the very top of my left shoulder and across my mid back. The Doctor and Nurses I spoke to about it kept saying it was probably gas from the surgery and that it will need to work itself out. For me it does seem like it has worked itself out, I no longer am feeeling it. It seemed to feel better as my activity level increased after surgery, I think a good walk in the fresh air is what helped me the most. Hope you feel better soon.
  8. Hi Karen, have strength, I know I am also going to have to keep myself this as well. We can do this, just keep remembering why you are on the pre-op. It is only days away now!!!! The thought of the Pre-op diet for me has been the scariest part of this weight loss journey so far. I am on Day one of My 10 Day Pre-Op diet, mine is basically Yogurt Low Fat /No Fat Low Carb, Cottage cheese Low Fat and One skinless chicken breast per day. Protien Meal Replacements are also allowed. I had a Biox chocolate Protien drink for breakfast, 1 sccop mixed with 8 oz of Water. Was surprisingly enjoyable (put lots of Ice in it, in an empty small Vitamin water bottle and sipped on my way to work and at my desk). So far so good . . .

    Spring into March 2010 Bandsters

Hi Everyone I also will be a March Bandster Age: 48 Height: 5'4 Current Weight: 235 lbs. Goal Weight: 150 lbs. Surgery Date: Mar 26, 2010 For as long as I can remember I have struggled with my weight, you name a diet or program and I have probably tried it once if not several times. Like many others I was never able to keep the weight I would lose off. Whatever I would would lose I would gain back plus more. I investigated lap band surgery a couple years ago but did not commit at that time, mainly because of the cost. Here I am a couple years later and heavier than ever, and have realized that I am worth the cost. I am a self pay and I have arranged for financing. My surgery is booked for March 26, 2010 in Ontario it cannot come soon enough for me, I am very excited about finally having a tool to help me in my journey to achieve and MAINTAIN a healthy weight.
  10. I have a surgery date of March 26, 2010 and have just made my appointment to see my nutritionist on March 1, 2010 I believe the purpose of seeing the Nutritionist before hand is for the pre op diet. Can anyone explain what is the purpose of the pre op diet, what is it and how long do you need to be on it prior to your surgery? Thanks

    New, From Ontario Canada

Hi, I also live in Ontario and OHIP does not cover LapBand. I looked at the positives and negatives of both Gastric ByPass and LapBand. Gatric Bypass is covered but very risky too many chances for complications for me, also I believe even for OHIP to cover you have to go through a strict approval process. I have just booked my banding for March 26th in Ontario. Yes it is expensive, financing is available. I filled out forms at my surgeons office and the process to get financing was quick and easy. $16,000.00 total cost makes Payments about $423.00 per month for 5 years. I feel I am worth it. You are worth it to!!! We would think nothing of buying a car and paying 16 grand over five years. If you really want to get it done, you should look into your financing options.
