Charlotte: That's a wonderful scale that your doctor has. I would like to know if I've lost fat or muscle. I bought a Tanika scale that is suppose to do something similar. I need to start charting what it says. I'm still trying to get over the fact that it says I'm 40% fat! I've lost 75 pounds, I wonder what % I was before. Maybe it's better that I don't know. Anyway, I weighed today and I was up 1.5 pounds and down a % in fat. So you think that's a good thing? Also, had an interesting experience with the BB today. The last few days I've been using a weighted vest when I do my 3 mile walk. The first day I used it I burned an extra 300 calories with it on. Today, it didn't show very much difference, may 75 calories. Do you think that my body has already adjusted to it (it was much easier) and I need to add more weight or walk a little faster? I know I am obsessing (like Renee says she does), but I can't help myself. This is addicting. It's a game and it really brings out my competitive nature. Even if I'm only competiting against myself! May the BB adventures continue!

Hopeworks: Maybe you need the thicker fill material, instead of saline. I believe it's called opalesense? I will keep score this time around. Let's report in on Mondays and we can track weight and exercise. Should be go to Labor Day? What goal should we set? Feed back please.

Christy: How do you know it was muscle that you gained? Just curious...

BJean: I'm up for the challenge!

Becky thanks for your speedy reply. I have one more question, but I will ask the BB counselor if you don't know. I go to water aerobics a few days a week and wanted to manual enter in an appropriate amount of calories burned, but I can't figure out how to. Do you have any experience with this? I'm loving the BB. Yesterday, I went for a short walk after dinner and it made all the difference in my weight loss and meeting my goal. I've already lost 1 pound since I started using it, 3 days ago. I love the instant feedback. I'm logging in twice a day also.

I starting using the Body Bugg and I love it. Instant information. I think my platueau is starting to leave. Yeah! Down 2 pounds this week. Are we going to have a nother challenge or has this group outlasted its usefulness? Everyone to busy with summer?

Argon: The limited data device does sound interesting, but you can always download your info from the BB (more than once a day). BBusers: I'm wondering if there is a way to view what you've recorded after you've pushed finished? Is there a way to see what you've already recorded and what your day is like thus far? I'm new and haven't figured this out yet. Thanks..

When I set up everything on my BB it said I should be eating 1800 calories a day. So I increased the amount of weight per week and it said I should it 1500. I haven't had a session with a counselor yet, but this seems pretty high. I am exercising quite a bit. What is everyone's opinion? Also, any tricks for getting all the food into the journal. I guess it just takes time, but it seems a bit awkard. Feed back appreciated.

Okay BB users I just tried to activate my bugg and answered truthfully that I had had weight loss surgery. It won't let me go any further. I called the help line number, but I just had to leave a message. Did not get a real person. Did this happen to any of you? Please advise.

Sandy: Congratulations on your weight loss. Sorry about your son. Sounds like you had an eventful vacation. Not hearing much from everyone. Are you all out there? Is everyone distracted by summer time activities? How about a new challenge?
-
I just got my BB too! I'm going to set it up in a little while. I think this will be a helpful thread. I'll let you know any tips the personal trainer gives me. Pass on what you learn. Hope this helps me break my platueau! Good luck everyone!

Bjean: You may be eating more than you think. I know that I was and if I'm not careful even when I write it down, I may forget something. I use a wonderful software program called Diet Power to keep track of what I eat and my exercise. You can download a trial version to use for 2 weeks free at Diet Power Calorie Counter, Diet, and Weight Loss Program. I love this program. It not only keeps track of calories but all your nutrients. I put my vitamins and everything in it. It tracks water intake and also tells you what your metabolic rate is based on your weight loss history. It gives you a daily grade, which I find highly motivating for some reason. It takes a little time to put all your special foods into the program, but there are hundreds of food items already in the program. I have also put in several of my favorite recipes and it will figure out calorie count, etc. Anyway, if you really want to keep track, this is a great little program. I am really going back to basic foods and am starting to get off my platueau. It helps not to be traveling and eat at home more. Good luck to all! -
How is weight loss for people over 50?

BJean, I wish you the best with your appointment. I have never heard of the high protien study you all are referring to. I too wonder what the carb breakdown is. My doctor liked the South Beach diet the best. I contacted a group called Bariatic Support International who counsels people who have gained a little weight since having weight loss surgery. There recommendation, is an almost total protien diet, putting your body into ketosis to kick start the weight loss process again and curb the craving for carbs. Of course it takes about 4 days to get over the craving. I don't tolerate meat real well right now so I am trying to decide if I want to do this. I guess I'm getting a little tired of the dieting approach and just want to eat in moderation. That being said, I still have 30 pounds to lose. I did lose 1 pound last week. I may try the high protien thing. Any one have any thoughts about this? -
So are we going to have another challenge? What does everyone think?

IndioGirl: good luck with your surgery! All the before stuff is a pain, but than you know that you're good to go! Wish you the best! -
Mimin: How exciting for your boyfriend. I understand all his concerns. It's a long process. I'm sure he's inspired by your sucess. No weight for me this last week. Went to San Francisco to watch my daughter dance and ate out a lot. We had exciting news while in SF. My daughter's boyfriend asked us if we would mind if he married our daughter. Pretty exciting, huh!? We think he is wonderful and now will wait and see what she says. They are going to Alaska this week and he plans to ask her. He took me ring shopping with him. Wanted a women's input. These are the fun times. Anyway, back to exercise, work and running my 8 year around. Have a great week.

Getting Ready for Spring Bootcamp

Turner: Glad you're feeling better. What an awful feeling. For the next challenge, I'm really going to work at changing up my exercise program. I'm doing water aerobics, weights and walking. I love all these things, but I think that my body needs more challenge. I just always hold back when it comes to exercise. I'm fearful that other things will be too hard. I'm going to be brave and get with the program! That's my challenge. I'll keep you posted.
