  1. Julie, that really makes me feel better. You're so reassuring. Thank you. I'm thinking I'm going to do it sooner-than-later. I just want to keep my strength up and not back slide. Thanks. Can't wait to hear how your thigh lift goes!
  2. Good for you. I look fine in clothes, but I think I'd be a size smaller without the stomach. It's just a hard decision. I'm also getting in really good shape with the weight lifting and I hate to regress. Glad your getting the stitches out, hope the drains come out too.
  3. Thanks Julie for once again answering my questions. When you started back into your exercise routine, how hard was it? Did you feel you were starting all over again or does it take longer that 6 weeks to get out of shape?
  4. Thanks Diane, I'm seriously thinking about what you have said. I guess I'm a little bit of a chicken too, but I am determined to have the TT or LBL. Maybe after Christmas I will get my first consultation. Hope you're feeling better.
  5. Julie: I'm sure you've answered this before, but I just can't remember your answer. I know that you are running marathons and like to exercise. How long after your surgery did you start exercising and what kind of restrictions did you have and will you have with the next surgery. I'm worried that it will be hard to get back into the routine with such a long time off. I love my strength training and daily workouts on the elliptical. Thanks.

I bought the wrist band, but not sure if I like it. The numbers are hard to read for us old folks. Will have to mess with it a little more.
  7. Diane: Thanks for the update. When are you allowed to stand up straight? Do you exercise with your busy schedule? If so, how long are you suppose to heal first? I have been thinking about those wedding pictures, just now sure. I guess I'm stubbon and want to reach my goal weight. I may have to give up on that. We'll see.
  8. Juli: Sorry about the boyfriend. I understand what you're saying about not obsessing about eating. My trainer tells me to stop weighing myself all the time, but it's hard. I'm in such a habit of weighing, recording what I eat, using the BB, etc. And I like doing all these things now. I get nervous when I go shopping because I think I should still be in the plus size department and every time I go into the regular department I wonder if anything will fit. My size 12 pants are starting to get lose. I guess I'm afraid I won't be able to maintain. Anyway, enough about that. I'm excited for you and your new body. I think you have lost the 3 pounds you were waiting for for your surprise from Utah and I better go shopping! Let the count down begin!
  9. Diane: Thanks for taking the time to reply on when to have PS. It helps all of us. I'm thinking that I'm a lot closer than I thought I was. I would go get a consult, but my daughter is getting married in May and I think I'll wait until after that. That being said, I think I will start interviewing doctors in March and have it done right after the wedding. How are you feeling? What is your pain level like now that its been over a week or so? Hope your doing well. Are most of the drains gone?

Lisa: A half marathon?! That is so great! I'm so proud of your accomplishment. I hope you realize what an accomplishment that is! Wow, what to go! A size 12 is great too. I finally made it to a size 12 also. I'm strength training with a trainer now. When I first started I could hardly lift 45 pounds, now I'm up to 80 on some things. I'm feeling stronger and better. How would have ever thought?! It's great to be thinner and healthier. Congratulations.
  11. Diane: Thanks for answering all my questions. You're looking fantastic. I can see why the drains would hurt. They are big and they don't look too flexible either! Hope they can come out soon! Looks like you've got some kind of compression on your thighs as well. Is that for blook clot prevention? Did the doc tell you when you can resume exercise?
  12. Diane: Thanks for answering all my questions.

Macysgranny: Just ignore the carb thing and do what you want with the percentages. Be prepared to add a lot of your own food to the program to begin with, then it gets a lot easier to use. Enjoy!

BJean: I do like the BB, but it's like everything else. You have to use it and be diligent about meeting your calorie deficit for it to work. I think that after a year with LB that it's good to have a little boost to help with the continued motivation. Plus, you're exercising now and will find all the information that the bugg gives you very useful. It's amazing how just moving around a little more can really pay off. It would be fun to do it with your spouse too.
  15. Diane: Glad the pain is tolerable. How long do the drain tubes have to be in? I've heard that is the most uncomfortable part. Did you end up using the spanx like garment for your girdle or does the dr suggest something else? How long are you suppose to be all trussed up? What do they say about exercise, work, etc? Could you give us a timeline for that stuff? Thanks. Wishing you the best!

How is weight loss for people over 50?

Green: At least you kept your sense of humor! Sorry it's been such a rough go. Let us know in a few weeks if you think it was worth it. My sister in-law had a face and neck lift and I know she had a lot of pain. She also had them put filler in her lips. After watching everything she went through not sure I could put myself through it, but I don't know, vanity is a strong pull! May your recovery continue to be good and speedy!

How do you know which version of the BB that you have? Does anyone know?
  21. Machele: Thanks for keeping us informed. Diane is in my prayers!

Mimin and BJean: Thanks for the info and advice. I love my Body Bugg and have lost 7 pounds since I started using it. That said, I haven't lost any weight in a few weeks. My trainer says that I am building muscle and to be patient. Easy for him to say! I'm inclined to keep working out and trying to lose and maybe waiting until after the wedding, even though I won't like the pictures as well or being in a bathing suit (It's going to be in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico). I want to feel well and really enjoy it. Also, need lots of energy to make sure it all goes smoothly! It's hard to be patient though and sick for the summer... Just not sure! Anyway, looking forward to hearing all about it Mimin! Maybe in another 10 pounds, I'll at least have a consult with a surgeon! HMMM....
  23. Julie: Thank you so much for answering my questions so thoroughly! I really appreciate it. I think I'll be fine with all those complications too, but I'm going to think about it for a while. I know that I would be 1 or 2 sizes smaller if it werent for my stomach which is where I was the heaviest and am now because of the excess skin. Now, how do you know when you should get the procedure, when the optimum time is. I'm not sure how much more weight I should lose. I think at least 10 more pounds, decisions, decisions! Thanks again for your support!
  24. Julie: I was talking with some one who had a lower body lift with some lipo and she advised me not to do it. She said that she scared terribly (celoid), that the surgery redistrubuted her fat, so she is now heavier in her arms and upper body and that after 8 years she still has numbness around her mid-section. I had never heard of these complications (scaring yes), except for some numbness with a breast lift in the nipple area. What's your opinion on all this? I'm exercising my butt off, but I'm never going to be able to rid myself of the pannus without some help. I'm prepared for some scaring, but not the rest. I've mostly heard positive things about LBL and TT's. Also, I'm trying to figure out when to get the LBL. I still have 20 pounds to goal, but it seems to be at a snail's pace even though, I'm working with the trainer, using the BB (meeting my deficits, etc.). I'm wondering how much poundage I would lose with the surgery and how it would change/help my metabolism. Maybe there is not quick fix for all this and I'll just have to limp along!?

Mimin: I hope you start a thread about you LBL. How did you know when it was the right to time to have one? I know that sounds like a silly question, but several threads have talked about how you don't need to be a goal weight, that the LBL actually takes off some weight and helps to speed up your metabolism. Have you heard this? I'm about 20 pounds from goal and really want to get a LBL before my daughters wedding in May. I'm not sure I'm going to make it, because the weight is really coming off slowly now. I now you have been awesome with your weight lose. I'm just wondering why you decided to do it now. Thanks.
