Don't know why, but I'm feeling very calm about everything. It's like I've made my decisions and it's really going to happen and it will be good. I will survive, heal and go forward with my life. I hope I can continue to sleep and stay calm for the next 6 days. Tomorrow, I leave for Florida and my Mom's 75th birthday party. I'm going to see my 3 brothers, whom I haven't seen in a long time. They all crack me up and I'm expecting to laugh a lot! Also, they haven't seen me since I lost weight, so it's going to be fun to see their reactions! This trip ought to help keep my distracted, so I don't start obsessing again about the surgery. I'll be back on Sunday. Tuesday's the big day! -
Surgeon recommendations in UT?
kareyquilts replied to loridee11's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Hi, I'm having a breast lift, augmentation and extended tummy tuck next week. See my thread if you want to follow my progress and see how I like my doc when it's all said and done. I interviewed 3 doctors. I am going to Renato Saltz. I feel very comfortable with him and confident that he'll take good care of me. He is more expensive than a lot of doctors in the area however. I also liked Chick Leland, who was less expensive and came with a recommendation from my band doc. I just didn't like him as well as I did Dr. Saltz. Good luck with your search! I think there are a lot of good docs in Utah! -
I agree with Jack. I guess it depends how big you are. I'm having a breast lift and augmentation next week. The last 15 pounds made the augmentation more imperative. I lost a lot of breast tissue with the last of my weight. I guess it just depends if you're willing to get a tune-up when you get to goal. I think that exercise is extremely important in the weight loss process and in getting healthy. Good luck!

Good luck with your decision. I heard that an anchor incision can have more complications. This might be something to research or ask Dr. Lo about.

I think the stretch marks are much better. I'm going to have to see how many I lose with my tummy tuck and maybe get some of this stuff. Thanks for sharing! -

LJM: Bother, bother and more bother! Sorry about your DH. Funny thing is, I am also on a Z Pack. Have a head cold and sore throat and my doc said to take it just to be safe. I'm praying it kicks in! Earth life can be such a trial! Remember: Breathe, Believe and Be Happy! I keeping telling myself this. Good luck! -
Smwww: My banddoc said to wait 3 months before doing ab work outs. Your almost there! Good luck!

Nurseamy's tummy tuck/Lipo/Mastopexy
kareyquilts replied to nurseamy's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Well 9 year old are a hoot and I bet she's learning a lot about plastic surgery. I had to tell my DD to stop telling people I was having surgery. It's a little embarrassing when complete strangers are asking me if I'm alright! -
Thanks Whose! I'll check in with everyone!

February/March 08 plastics
kareyquilts replied to losingjusme's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
For some reason, I heard that it was harder for men. I'm planning on it being extremely difficult for a while and hoping that I'll be one of the lucky ones. I guess I'm more worried about long term side effects like loss of nipple sensation, permanent numbness or results that aren't that great. I guess you just have to take the step into the darkness. -
Port Replacement Surgery Due to Port Infection
kareyquilts replied to Summer87's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
A low profile port is smaller, as you lose weight the port can start to stick out and be very visible under your skin. I've now lost enough fat on my stomach that this is happening to me. My plastic surgeon says that when they do the tummy tuck and remove the last of my belly fat, the port will be even more visible. So, they are going to put in the smaller port. Some people never have a problem with this. It depends where the surgeon placed your port and how you lose weight, etc. I guess that they don't put the lower profile port in first, because it can be harder find when get fills. Good luckwith every thing! -

LJM: The doctors are going to take good care of you. It looks bad for them if their patients croak on the table! LOL! Try and visualize how you're going to wake up, look around, and think: "I'm alive and I think I've been hit by a semi!" How's that for positive thinking! LOL! Breath, Believe and Be Happy! -
Nurseamy's tummy tuck/Lipo/Mastopexy
kareyquilts replied to nurseamy's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Amy: I'm having a breast lift with augmentation. I won't be able to use my arms? Oh dear, didn't know that! Do you mean just can't pull yourself up or lift something heavy? Glad you have some help! My youngest is 9 and she adores my mom who is coming to help, so I don't have to worry on that front. I think my PS uses lidocaine also, he does the tumenscient lipo. I guess I'll find out. I'll be using my pain killers if I need them and we can write funny things back and forth! -

Two pounds of each thigh?! Wow! I bet they could get more off my thighs! It's amazing what they can do. Does the lipo hurt worse than the TT? That's what Nina from England says? Glad you're doing well. -

LJM: Do you celebrate "Gotcha Day" with your DD? We have made that a tradition with our adopted daughter. We read stories abuot how she came into our family and how happy we were and we do an activity that she wants to do. For the last 3 years it's been going to the Dinosaur museum. I'm hoping this year it will be somthing different! Glad you have lots of good stuff going on to distract you! I think it's important to start re-framing the surgery into as many mental postives as possible. I've starting saying things like, "I'm going to be healing." instead of "I'm not going to be feeling good, or I'll be in a lot of pain.", etc. I'm trying to picture light and love over my body. I think it will help. Maybe I'm just weird. At any rate, your going to be smoking hot soon!
