Band Out, Sleeve In! It's done.
kareyquilts replied to Elisabethsew's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just wanted to let everyone know that on Wednesday I had my fluroscope of my band and that my band went back into place, so apparently it was a dilation of the stomach and not a true slip. At first I was a little disappointed because I had decided that the VSG really is the way to go. You all have really convinced me and I have appreciated this forum so much! The doc put 3.5 cc back into my band and I can feel some restriction. Since having the band re-filled my nausea is back, it has awakened me in the middle of the night and is there in the mornings but seems to get better by midday. Today, I was in the car for an hour and got very car sick. I hope that this resolves soon, because I am very tired of problems with the band. I have a feeling that I am not out of the woods yet, but I am going to proceed as if I am. I have learned a lot this last 6 weeks, not only about the benefits of the VSG, but also about myself. I have a lot more issues with food than I thought I did. I really felt that I had developed good habits, and I have, but without some restriction, I really do over eat and for some reason, my sweet tooth came back with a vengenance. I think that I am going to get some counseling. It's time to deal with some of this stuff. Anyway, I think that you are all very intelligent woman and I'm glad I know who to pm should I have more problems with my band! I know that you all read each others threads, so I just chose Elizabeth's thread for a take over. I really wish you all the best! -

Juli: Enjoy the reactions to your new bod! Sorry about the seromas. I found out yesterday that my band slip has corrected itself. I feel like I have a new lease on life. I'll get my restriction back a little at a time. Can't wait! Sorry, I just had to tell a fellow bandster my good news! -
Oregondaisy's turn for sleeve surgery
kareyquilts replied to Oregondaisy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Dr. Aceves is not doing my surgery, not yet anyway. Daniel Cottam is probably going to do it. I see him on Wednesday and will find out if my band is still slipped. I have a list of questions for him based on Wasa and all of you really. If he answers them to my satisfaction, than I will have him do the surgery, if not, than I will schedule with Dr. A. -
Soda, skins, pills and the sleeve
kareyquilts replied to DownInSocal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
DownInSoCal: I know before my band surgery that I had to go off my estrogen and for 2 weeks after my surgery. I know that my doc also said not to get pregnant for at least 1 year after the surgery, so I would think that BC would be a must! -
Oregondaisy's turn for sleeve surgery

OD: You're making feel that I should have my surgery sooner than later. I was going to try and wait until the end of June because my son is graduating from medical school in N.Y. the 5th of June and than we have a business meeting in Hawaii immediately after that. I didn't want to have to be on a special diet or feel poorly when I had these important events to attend. Maybe I should reconsider. I'm so so tired of the nausea and feeling slightly out of control with my eating. So tired of my band! What do you think? -

I agree the anxiety before surgery is the worst part. You'll sleep well Thursday night (drugs help). LOL -
Band Out, Sleeve In! It's done.
kareyquilts replied to Elisabethsew's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It really exciting to look forward to the smaller sizes isn't it?! I remember the euphoria I felt when I made it toa size 12, now I'm a size 10, was an 8 before my unfill:cursing:. Anyway enjoy the ride! -
Band Out, Sleeve In! It's done.
kareyquilts replied to Elisabethsew's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Vegasangel: I don't think I would tell them anything. I wish I hadn't told people that I had the lap band, because even if you have had WLS you still have to make the right choices, exercise, etc and people think that it comes off miraculously. Just tell them you're trying a liquid diet or cleanse, etc. It's not thedir business! If I have the revision surgery to a sleeve, I plan on telling people that I had my band removed. I won't add that I had the sleeve at the same time. -

I'm so happy for you! I have my band rechecked on Wednesday to see if it went back into place. I'm actually hopng that it hasn't because I believe that the VSG is the best option out there and you guys are getting psyched to get this blankety-blank band out. Have fun walking around in your housecoat, you crazy thing! -

Jeni's Stage 2 Plastic Surgery!!
kareyquilts replied to Jeni 85's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Shalee: I feel like we are plastic surgery sisters since we went through about the same time. Good luck with your revision. I'm sure it's going to go well. Please let me know how your healing goes. Jeni: I had my arms done in October, you can read about my experience on my thread. The arms really weren't very painful. They feel very heavy for a few days and you can't bend them (or at least I couldn't) because of the bandaging. You'll need someone to help you get a glass to your mouth and help you eat. That is the worst part, but luckily it get better quickly. If I can answer anymore questions please let me know. -
OH Juli's Plastic Surgery

Juli: I'm a size 8-10, was a 6 before my unfill (Boo-hoo). When I'm feeling bad about my size, I try to look around at my peers and get some perspective. Being average with a little better plus having a flat stomach is a good thing! Hope the seromas get better soon! -
*Susan* revision from band to sleeve
kareyquilts replied to *susan*'s topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
Susan: I totally agree with VegasAngel. You should speak with or write the doctor personally. What a ridiculous situation! We own a veterinary clinic and it drives me crazy when employees take things to literally. I know that we would want to know if something like that happened. Whoever you dealt with should be fired and if the surgeon was behind it (which I doubt) than he deserves to have his name smeared! Anyway, I'm glad you're feeling better. Take care! -

I can't wait to fill full again! You all are making me very excited to get my revision surgery done and over with! -
Dr. Schulman: Thanks for your reply! I really appreciate it. I hope that my lymph system will repair itself and I am willing to continue the compression therapy and exercises that I have been given and give it more time. If these efforts don't improve the situation, do I need a specialist to try to re-attach the the lymphs to my blood vessels? You know that I am a big advocate of reconstructive surgery after weight loss and I'm very sad that my journey might be over. Thanks again for all the good that you do!

OH Juli's Plastic Surgery
kareyquilts replied to OH Juli's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Sue: Congratulations on your surgery date! A panni only removes the lower portion of the stomach (the part that hangs down over the pubis). A tummy tuck pulls all the skin down (above the belly button) repairs the muscles underneath the tummy (if needed) and gives the belly the nice flat look. A panni can have an abrupt look to it because the bottom of the stomach just seems to fall off, the skin above the belly can still be loose and jiggly. A pani is done to alleviate skin rashes below the panis, not really for an aesthetic look. Do look on Dr. Schulman's website for examples. Hope this explanation is helpful. It's hard to explain.
