kareyquilts replied to apinksoprano's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Well this sight has been interesting. I'm going to check out the Makemeheal link. Thanks. It does take a while for lipo to give you the final result, so hang in there! -

Still nauseated and waiting to hear the results of my Cat scan. I'm thinking that the mono vision that I've been trying is making me sick (1 contact for reading and nothing for distance). My eye doc says that she doesn't think it's the contact because my worse time for nausea is in the middle of the night and the morning, before I'm really using my sights. Not sure, but if everything checks out okay, I'm going to take out the contact (I already took it out for 3 days and it didn't seem to work). Anyway, I saw my plastic surgeon today and I am scheduled for surgery on Oct.16th and then knee surgery on Nov. 12th! After my doc showed me what he can do for me, I'm really excited about it. I've lost weight since my TT and have more loose skin on the upper ab, so he is going to do an anchor incision to get rid of all the loose skin. Wish I didn't have to have another scar, but I guess it doesn't matter when I'll have one that goes around 350 degrees. He is also going to do my arms, thighs and a butt lift. It's going to be a lot of surgery, he said about 6 hours, but it shouldn't be as painful as the last one. Sense there won't be any muscle repair. Anyway, I've got to get over this nausea, so I can get on with things! -

Nina & all: Went to see the ps today and I have a surgery date. October 16th (provided I get over this nausea). I'm not having a LBL. I don't know what the correct term is, but it includes the butt lift and thigh lift. Also, because I've lost more weight they are going to revise my TT and do an anchor incision to tighten everything up. Also getting alot of lipo. Also getting an arm lift! Whew, that's alot of surgery! I can't believe that my weight journey is almost complete. Now, if I can just get my family to support me and not keep telling me that I don't need anymore surgery. I think they really just don't want me to put myself in harms way again, but I wish they would be more positive. Do you think I should start a new thread? -
Frangipani & TexasBecky get Reconstructed
kareyquilts replied to TexasBecky's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Okay, I went to see my ps today and I have a date for my surgery! Whoa! October 16th! I'm going to have a lot more work done than I previously thought. I have lost more weight since my TT, so I have a lot of loose skin on my upper abdomen. Dr. Saltz wants to do an anchor incision and revise my lower one to get everything tight. Also, going to do my arms. Also, going to do my thighs and a butt lift and lots of lipo. He said it would take about 6 hours. I'm actually excited about all this. He is going to do the same thing that Frangi's doc is doing with the butt lift, he will add my own back fat to my bottom to round it out. (Sounds reall appetizing, doesn't it). My journey is almost finished. This is exciting stuff. I couldn't talk him into the horizontial thigh lift in front like Becky had. He said it would be too much. But I'll be so close to being the best that I can be! Four weeks after all this surgery, I'll get my knee done and then rehab for the entire body! I'm glad that Frangi is doing this soon. -
Boo Boo Kitty's PS Journey
kareyquilts replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
BBK: I would call the hospital as Plain suggested and talk to the hospitals public relations department. When I had my original lap band procedure the hospital told me to come in at 6:30 am, which I did. Around 9:00 am they told me they had made a mistake and didn't have an assistant surgeon scheduled and I had to wait until 2:00 pm. I was already in the gown and hooked to an IV too. I was ready to leave, but my DH calmed me down. I wish I would have talked to a hospital administrator. I did write a letter, but no one bothered to call me back! I wish you the best on Wednesday! -

Nina: You're too funny! Always planned to have the back side done and the arms. I was thinking January, but if I have to be out of commission for my knee, I just thought I'd get it all over with around the same time. Had the Cat scan today. I had to drink almost a gallon of yucky stuff and then get the ole dye in the arm. Haven't heard the results yet. I'm still nauseated and sick of the whole thing. The slippage was very painful and I was relieved to go under anesthesia to be over with the pain. No pain now, just feel like vomiting all the time. Will keep you posted! -

Becky: Wow, who would have thought I could find someone on LBT that had the same knee surgery that I need. I'm glad to hear that yours went so well! Now to see what the PS says and get it all figured out! -

Nina: Nice to hear from you! How are YOU doing? I'm doing better, but have a lot of nausea which I shouldn't be experiencing over a month out of surgery. Scheduled for a CAT scan tomorrow. Hopefully, all is well and I'm just adjusting to the new band. I just found out I need to have knee surgery and am scheduled for Sept.3rd, there is a 3-4 month recovery from this blasted surgery. After thinking about it, I'm going to put off the surgery and coordinate having my LBL lift of the back side and my arms done, so that I'm not recovery from one surgery and then having to face a nother. Better to get it all over with, so I can get back to life. I have an appointment with the PS on Tuesday to figure it all out. I just wish I could get over this nausea thing! -

Becky: Thanks for the words of encouragement. My patella is misaligned and is bone on bone with my knee cap. They are going to cut off part of the patella and realign it and loosen the ligment on the opposite side, so that the patella rides (or aligns) correctly over the knee. The inflation and misalignment is causing the underlying bone to start deteriorating. This procedure is suppose to give me another 10-15 years before a knee replacement. I hope my doc, knows what he is talking about. My surgeon is Tom Rosenberg, he did my DH knee and Tiger Woods. My husband's knee is great, I haven't asked Tiger! Is this similar to your knee surgery? -

Frangi: I think you should stay with this thread if Becky doesn't mind. I'm not sure I'll start a thread for round 2, I'm with you on posting pictures of my behind! LOL! Somehow, I don't mind posting pictures of the droopy arms! Well, I'll have to see if I can find some underwear that will show the problems without showing the whole thing or I will just PM to those who really want to see. Hmmm! -
Yup! How are you going? Our 2 year band anniversary is coming right up!

Diane: Well that's not too bad, I bet you only gained a pound or so. So, hopefully the fill will help! YEAH! Well, yesterday, I got more bad news. Now, I have to have knee surgery. O, bother! There will be a 3 to 4 month recovery time, so I've decided that I'm going to get my back side and my arms done, so I don't have 2 recoveries. So tired of going backwards! The ortho guy has me scheduled for Sept. 3rd, but I'm going to put it back, after I meet with the ps on Tues. and get a real game plan. Just never know what life is going to throw at you! -

Frangi: I may not be too far behind you for the back side after all. I just found out today that I have to have surgery on my knee. GRRR! They said it would be up to 4 months before returning to full exercise routine! So, I thought while I was laid off, I might move up my back side surgery and get it all done, that way I can get on with life and hopefully not have another down turn. I called my ps and will see him on Tues. Seems that I need to have the BL and braichoplasty before the knee surgery, because I will need to rehab in the water and can't do that for about 1 month after my BL and will need to start about 2 weeks after the knee surgery. So looks like I will need to have the BL about 2-3 weeks before the knee surgery. I just hope I can get it all worked out. Not sure how having my arms done will work while needing crutches. Now that I think about it, I may just wait for a while for both surgeries. I still don't feel very well. Keep having nausea. Seeing the lap band doc on Thurs for that. Sorry to be thinking/typing out loud. Will quit. Can't wait to hear out this surgery goes. -

How is everyone doing? I just got back from San Francisco where I watched my daughter in an aerial dance performance. It was great except I still don't feel to good. I have gained back 4 pounds! I'm also starting to get my appetite back, so I will probably start getting fills when I gain, hopefully next week. I guess that I will try to make use of this band, that cost me soooo much money! Went to a pilates class today for the first time since my surgery. Boy, was it tiring and my abs did not really like it, but I guess it was survivalable, just discouraging that is all I can say. I'm sounding like an Eyeore today, cause that's how I feel. Maybe I need to get out and get some sunshine! Hope you all are doing better than me! Would love to hear how it's going. Bjean, congratuations on the weight los! -

Frangi: I thought his faces were amazing also, and I am considering a face lift. That's why I wonder if I should think about it, since I don't have that much fat left (YEAH) and did to think about if I should use it in my butt or face. Oh, things can get kind of bizarre can't they? I would feel sad to end my relationship with my PS, cause I really do like him, but if he can't do what I want then maybe I should consider it. I have every confidence that he can do a wonderful job on a LBL, it's just the butt thing I'm not sure about. I have also seen face lifts from my ps and they are very good, just not sure if they are as good as the "butt" guys. (He's always going to be the butt guy to me). LOL! -

Salsa, thanks for sharing the pics. You look great! I hope you know that you're going to continue to improve. You're going to look even better as time goes by. The swelling is so insidious. It really times a lot more time than you think. I'm 4 months out and my waist is getting more defined every day. So, I guess the good news is that you're going to look better and better! -

I thought I might email the butt guy and ask him if he does LBL in conjunction with agmentation, just for the heck of it. I'm not sure that my doc has a lot of experience with agmentation, either and I don't think he uses the micro whatever technique that was described. Right now it's all just talk because I'm not up for any of it right now. Still feel pretty crappy, thought my doc put me on a few new medicines that are helping the nausea, etc. -

kareyquilts replied to TexasBecky's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Okay this is so confusing! I went to the website on buttocks and found it very interesting. His facelifts using fat grafts looked really good also. Now, I'm not sure how to approach my ps and ask him about these techniques. I'm thinking that I need to stop losing weight so I have a little fat left for my face and butt. Boy is that a weird thought! I guess I will once again, bring my list of questions to the doc. Maybe with some pictures. Doesn't look like the SC ps does the technique of using your own fat flap. Well, for the money, I want want is ultimately going to look the best, even if I have to go to SC or NY. But, it's diffiuclt because I feel so grateful to my PS for what he has already done for me. I'm a very loyal person. Hard to know what to do. Just remember, Frangi, I'll be watching you! -

Frangi: This is exciting! Can't wait to learn from you this go around. I was thinking of having my surgery in January. Right now I feel pretty crappy, still experiencing a lot of nausea and tiredness from my slip. I'm going to the doc today to see what they can do for me. The way I feel right now, I just can't imagine having more surgery, but I know my vanity will get the best of me! -

Mimin: So glad you're feeling better and your weight is down again. What a relief for you! As far as your wedding, I think your right that you need to at least consider your parents. Marriage not just about you guys, but about blending families and celebrating your new family. Someday you will have children and of course you'll want to be part of their big day and honor their union. That being said, you're not going to please everyone and everyone won't be able to come. What advise do your parents give you? Are they helpful? I just wish you the best and having the date is a good start! -

Frangi: If you get any info on this, I hope you'll share with me as this is what I'm also considering. Wierd as it sounds my bottom is quite small now, but my thighs really need the LBL. I don't want a smaller booty because its pretty flat now. Please keep me posted on what you find out! -

Bjean: Congratulations on the weight loss! I'm glad you're feeling better. My doc said no swimming pools for 6 weeks. I'm going to add pilates next week and then go back to weight training in 2 weeks. My doc said I can't lift more than 40 pounds when I go back for a while. I'm not sure why, it seems kind of random to me. Oh well.
