Mother's Day Challenge Anyone?
Reshee replied to MommyOf1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in count me in for 15#, I go for my second fill on the 29th of April. It's going to mean I work my butt off at the gym. This is the motivation I need. -
I am so proud of myself. I feel great, soreness is gone, no pain meds since the day of surgery, walking 30 minutes a day and the BEST PART ,I have lost 21#'s since starting my pre-op diet and surgery. I can not get over how well I feel and about the weight loss. I had my surgery a week ago tomorrow and it is truly the best thing I have ever done for myself. I no longer crave crazy food and even though I'm still on liquids only, I think before I put anything in my mouth now. I hope it keeps coming off like it is now. :rolleyes2:

Question about Post Op Followup from your Dr.
Reshee replied to ChristopherDallas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery with Dr. Kim on Thursday the 19th. I have not seen or heard from him since my surgery. I did hear from the hospital. They called to see how I was doing and about the care I recieved while I was under their care. I recieved the date of my post-op visit the same day I recieved my surgery date. I think it's pretty normal not to hear from them. My opinion if we have any problems, they will get call from us. To them I think no news is good news. I agree it would be nice to get call to see how we are doing! All is well with me no pain, soreness comes and goes. I have done a lot of walking and will return to work on Monday. All gas pain is gone. Bad part I am getting an appetitie back:sad:. Sticking to only protien shakes, Water, and SF Jello. -
The "Day" is finally here. I about to leave to go to the hosiptal. We live about an hour and half from the hosiptal, so we are leaving early to ensure arrival on time or even early. I am one of those crazy people who begin to freak out if I am not 15 minutes early to an appointment. I did not sleep much at all last night. Fear of oversleeping and excitment I guess. It's hard to believe I will be banded in few short hours and I will join most of on the "other side". Had the "little talk" with my hubby the one noone wants to have, but is a must. The "not going to happen, but if it does" these are my wishes. Made me feel better but it upset him a little. He truly loves me for me:wub: not my size. Gotta love the man! I will post when I feel better, Good Luck to all being banded TODAY!

Yeah I am banded!!!! I feel great, little to no pain! I have been walking and have had a couple of sips of water. Still hard for me to believe that I had surgery earlier today. Cottonmouth just sucks:angry:
-
Btrieger, How you doing? Are you still a patince of Dr. Kim's? Are you scheduled for surgery yet? There was a little wait but not much. The nurses and staff at Baylor Carrollton are out of this world. The most positive experience anyone could ask for. I feel awesome. I have been walking in the house and can not believe I have a band. Cotton mouth is the kicker for me. I would love to gulp and huge glass of water down.
-
I am home from the hospital and feel great! I have been walking and have no gas pain or any other type of pain to speak of thus far. I do have a high tolerance for pain but I am sure I will feel something later tonight. I have had a couple of sips of water but taking it slow. My mouth feels like I have been on a week long drinking binge. I have never had cotton mouth this bad in my life. How long does it take for this to go away? I hope everyone else who was banded today is having a positive experience like I have so far. I still can't believe that I'm banded!:frown:

Good Luck tomorrow! I had my surgery today and feel good. But I have been up and walking which has helped tons. It has helped with gas and general sores in the port area and and other areas. I am sure as the day pass I will feel more, but I'm trying to stay positive and move. Be ready for the cottonmouth of a life time. Its bad? Good Luck!

I'm from Texas and have BCBS of Texas. The only preexisting condition I have is Thyroid condition. They approved me the first go around with me only documenting on a form that Dr. Kim provided.. Listing the different weight loss programs and diets that I have tried with dates and durations (not exact). No doctor documentation at all. Where in Texas do you live and who is your doctor. My lapband Doc (Dr.KiM) handlied all the paperwork and knew all the hoops needed to be jumped through. I started my process in November of 09 and will have my surgery tomorrow. I was afraid they would not apporve me because of no preexisting conditions like yourself. Normallly they want you to have the problems you mentioned that you have. I think I was approved because of Dr.Kims office knew exactly how to document and gives the insurance company the required paperwork for them to approve. Good Luck!

Tomrrow is my BIG DAY! I can hardly wait. I will be banded at 7:30 in morning by Dr. Kim in Carrollton. It all seems surreal. I hope I can sleep tonight, yeah right. I live about an hour and half from the hospital, so it will be a very early morning for us. Good luck to everyone being banded on the 18th!

Hi April,
Thank you so much for sending me message. I am so excited I can hardly stand it. Tomorrow is the BIG DAY, I hope I can focus long enough at work today. I keep thinking in 24 hours this will be happening. How is life with the band for you? Hope we can keep in touch. Thanks again for the words of encouragement! Reshee

I can hardly wait for Thursday, Febuary the 18th. I know many of you have felt the same or are feeling the same way I am. I will be banded on Thursday, at 8:30 in the morning:thumbup: I have been faithful to my 14 day liquid diet and have lost 15# so far. Iam looking forward to the next phase of my life. I already feel out-of-this world. Getting all the carbs and junk out of my body has made a world of difference, with my energy level and overall feeling great. I have not felt this good in a long time. I need something to get my mind off of waiting for the big day. I am planning on returning to work on Monday. I know many of you are thinking there is no way she will be able to do that. I have a high tolerance for pain and hope that I will return on Monday. I need a little advice, as to what to take to wear home? This web-site has already been a great resource for me on what to expect and not expect, what to do and not what to do. I look forward to connecting to all you bandsters after the 18th. Good Luck to all other 18 banders out there!

Getting back on track after the blizzard.
Reshee commented on LoseIt!'s blog entry in LoseIt!'s Blog
Good for you girl. I live in North Texas as well. I will be banded on the 18th of Febuary with Dr. Kim. I was wondering if you could use a buddy? Since, we are TEXAS SIZE GALS at the moment, we could buddy up. I am a slave to the scale as well. I jump on several time throughout the day and watch my weight go up and down. Knowing very well that happens. I have lost 15# on the liquid gold so far. I hope to lose 5 more by surgery. -

Hi, mlillie36 I am so glad you contacted me. Where in Texas do you live? Who is your Doc? I live in Azle and my doctor is Dr. Kim in Colleyville. I can hardly wait. I am so sick of the pre-op liquid diet. I have been on it since the 4th of this month. I am happy that I have lost 14lbs since being on it. I hope to lose a total of 20 by Thursday. My surgery is schedule for 7:30. I hope that is the time it actually happens. I am 37, married and have three kids. I am so looking forward to this next step in my life. Let's keep in touch and good luck on Thursday. We will have to compare stories and this journey into the next phase of our lives. Reshee

What was/is your Daily Caloric Intake while on pre-Op diet
Reshee replied to PalmBayTish72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on day 4 of 14 days of my pre-op liquid diet:crying:. Let me tell you it has not been easy. Weekends are the hardest. While at work I am busy and keep my mind off it. It is defintly a mind game. I am allowed only 800 calories a day. All liquids except for sugar-free jello-o. What I would not do for just a bite of food. But I will not go there. I have lost 10lbs in only for days. I am very luckly that my husband is very supportive and does all the cooking for the himself and our three kids. If I had to be around food right now I think I might go crazy. When they are eating dinner, I take a shower. It is a mental challenge and one can not really prepare for. I will say I have more energy and feel a ton better having all that "crap" out of my system. Good Luck! Just keep telling yourself its all worth it!!! -
Good luck....everything will be just fine!

When do you start your liquid diet? I start mine on Thursday, February 4, 2009. Getting closer... Just wish it was here.

I start my pre-op diet on Thursday!:bored: I have done a trial run..only protein shakes for breakfast and lunch. Like everyone has posted it's going to be the longest two weeks of my life. If I could only stop obessing about getting banded. It's like waiting for Christmas morning when you were a kid. I think I might just loose my mind. Come on February 18th. I am not at all nervous about the surgery. I just want the the first day of the rest of my life to get here. I have learned so much as to what to do and what not to do from everyones post. I can't wait to be able to feel comfortable with having my picture taken. I want my kids to have something to remember me by. At this point they have none. :mad3:

I'am so excited and can hardly wait. My band day is set for the 18th of February. I start my pre-op diet on the 4th. When were you able to return to normal activity? I have heard the best thing to do after surgery is walk, walk and walk. Would you say this is true?
