I finally started exercising 2 weeks ago. I've gone to the gym for 60 minutes 3 times / week. So far, I've been walking on the treadmill (3.5 - 4.0 mph) for 20 minutes and doing the elliptical for 20 minutes (4.0 mph). Then I have added some ab and arm exercises. I feel great after each workout and really wish I would have started this sooner. How long will it be before I start seeing a difference?

Better to find out now than later. At least you're not into a very long relationship with him. -
Lump in throat feeling?
LapBandBobbi replied to Lunalove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Make sure you're chewing your food good - even the mushy stuff. Maybe take smaller bites and when you begin to feel full or start to get that lump - stop eating. Hang in there. -

hitting a horrible plateau
LapBandBobbi replied to lynmcg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been going through the same thing and have just started dropping weight again. I have lost 3 lbs this week, but wasn't able to work out for the past 4 days. I wonder if the change up in my routine caused me to lose??? I'm going to the gym tonight and getting back on my regular schedule. My doctor told me it takes about 4 months before you really start seeing the results from working out. Like you, I thought I would see the pounds drop off much more quickly. Hang in there, the workouts are worth it! I feel very good every time I work out. Good Luck! -
Transition from Elliptical to Running
LapBandBobbi replied to DennisMN's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I'm fairly new at the exercise thing, but I have also been working out on the ellipitical. I typically do 2 miles (around 25 min) then move over to the treadmill. I do two miles on the treadmill between walking and jogging. At first, it was very difficult to jog, so I started walking 1/10th and jogging 1/10th. Every week I increase the jogging by 1/5. I am now walking 1/10th and jogging 1/25. For me, it has been easier because it was so hard for me to jog. Good luck. -
Congratulations on your success so far!

I wouldn't worry about the time, as long as you're full and satisfied.

I'm really happy I've got good restriction right now. I think this will definately help me. In a way, I'm a little sad I won't enjoy the food as much as I used to in the past, but one day is not worth the misery you feel when you over eat! Good luck to everyone! -
Any runners out there?
LapBandBobbi replied to conservachick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also want to start running (never thought I'd say that). For the past 2 weeks I have been running/jogging on the treadmill. I walk .1 and jog .1 - up to 2.5 miles. I am going to start pushing myself to jog .25 miles next week. My biggest problem is my breathing - I get really winded. Any suggestions? -

How often do you exercise
LapBandBobbi replied to ICUnurserachel's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I can totally see how you can become addicted to working out. I work out with my husband at his place of employment (they have an awesome facility) and he only wants to go 3x/week. I would go 5-6 times if it were up to me. We do have a treadmill and some DVD workout videos at home, so I think on the days we don't go to the gym, I'm going to push myself to workout at home. -
Just got banded yesterday

Congratulations on getting you band! I'd listen to your doctor about whether to use cold compress or heating pad. Good luck and hang in there. It gets better every day! -

Get your Dad up and walking as much as possible. This will help with the gas pains and he will feel better overall. Hang in there with him! Good girl! -
Need advice please!
LapBandBobbi replied to Diane1129's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would agree with going to liquids for a couple of days. This has happened to me in the past and you need to get plenty of fluids until the swelling goes down. Good luck! -
Dressing Room Meltdown!
LapBandBobbi replied to Fluffy_Gurl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if you can get this done quickly or not, but maybe you can have someone do some alterations on your current suits. It may not take much to make them look nice. Good luck with the interview! -
Is This Normal?

I don't burp anymore, but I do hiccup about 3 times after eating. I think this is my sign to put the fork down! -
