What is my Problem?
LapBandBobbi replied to mattie7632's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think it is a struggle for most of us. My mind seems to think I can still eat the way I used to, but my band won't let me. I can't tell you how many times I've gone out to a restuarant and order a meal thinking "I'll be able to eat it this time". But, I never can. I also have a problem with sweets. It seems like I go in spells. I rationalize eating sweets it internally because I'm not eating as many calories as I did in the past. I know this slows my weight loss down, but it is a never ending struggle - at least for me it is. -
Congratulations! I hope to be running some 5K's this summer as well!

Congratulations on your success so far! Keep up the good work!

Almost a Year after Surgery....and soooo Happy!
LapBandBobbi replied to CynthiaMTR's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Congratulations on your success! I am just past that 1 year mark and am also very happy with my progress. It has been slow, but soooo worth it! -
Guiness is the only beer I have found not to have carbonation. For me, it's a little strong. I prefer to stick with vodka if I'm going to have a drink.

Would you do it again?
LapBandBobbi replied to slm2007's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You definately need to weigh all your options when it comes to WLS. I am very happy with my decision to have Lap-Band vs Gastric Bypass. And yes, I would do it again. My weight loss has been slow and steady over the past year. I do not have any loose or saggy skin because of the gradual weight loss. I do not feel deprived from anything. As far as the port goes, it doesn't bother me at all. I sleep on my stomach with no problem. I believe the port size is all the same. They are fairly small. You should attend a WLS seminar that explains all of the options out there. Almost all of them have an actual band/port there to show. Good luck with your decision. -
Today at lunch I decided to go to JC Penney to look for a new pair of jeans. As I was browsing thru the Petite section, I felt like an imposter. What the heck am I doing shopping in this department - I must be out of my mind. Anyway, I went to the dressing room with a size of 14P and guess what? -yepp, they were too big! I tried on the 12P's and they actually fit - nicely I might add. I love my band!

What's with all the burping?
LapBandBobbi replied to catthegrape's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It eventually goes away or slows down considerably. I don't burp as often anymore, but I do hiccup 3x once I'm full. -
Help me understand
LapBandBobbi replied to ElfiePoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I totally agree with you. If you have any doubts about making a "lifestyle change" you should not get banded. This is truly a lifestyle change and not a diet. My daughter is considering having gastric by-pass surgery and I have stressed that to her many times. It's a lifetime decision, not a spurr of the moment decision. Think and choose wisely what is best for you before you do it. -
On Saturday, I jogged my first mile in many many years. I had to really push myself thru it, but I did it! I have been jogging/walking 3 miles over the pat month and have only been able to actually jog 1/2 mile at a time. I seem to run out of air before my legs give out. Any suggestions on how to get my breathing under control? I'm really looking forward to being about to jog the entire 3 miles. This exercise has really helped with the weight loss and has resulted in lots of inches lost.

Barb - Try eating protein when "all hell breaks loose". I find if I eat protein first, I don't have room for anything else. Maybe you should set up an appointment with your nutrionist to give you some guidenance. Good Luck!

Stuck at current weight
LapBandBobbi replied to tmphillips's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sometimes it just takes your body awhile to readjust to your new eating habits. Hang in there, the weight will start dropping off again. Also, I noticed as soon as I started a regular exercise program, the weight started coming off even better. -
LOOKING FOR BANDERS IN THEIR 50'S!!!
LapBandBobbi replied to roseyposey's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just turned the big "50" this month. I love my band. This has been one of the best decisions of my life. My weight loss has been slow and steady. Sometimes I wish I would lose quicker, but know this is the absolute best way to lose weight. I have taken up running the last couple of months and love how I feel after. Still need to lose 40 lbs, but I know it will come off in time. Good luck to everyone! -
My 1 year anniversary is one week from today. I am also at 60 pounds lost and am very happy with my progress. Keep up the good work!

WOW - You've lost 80 pounds! Just think, you may have gained weight if it weren't for having LapBand. Hang in there!

Pain in my chest..please advise
LapBandBobbi replied to Lunita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I recommend sipping on some hot tea. I find that hot tea helps settle things when I get chest pains from food that is not going down. -
I'm getting a little worried here guys...
LapBandBobbi replied to malexander's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I consider myself to be successful. I am approaching my 1 year bandaversary and have lost 60 lbs so far. It averages out to just over a pound a week, but I could never have done this without the help of my band. I have made some significant changes in my food choices, but sometimes it is difficult to go out and eat. I think I can still eat a regular size portion, but what happens is I end up taking home leftovers and eating 3 more meals out of it. I have also come to love to work out - something I never thought I would say. My doc told me after the first 35-50 pounds you will look at it differently and he was right. I went to the doc on Monday and they took a picture of me and I looked at my 1st picture there and what a difference! Sometimes I can't believe the physical changes in my body. I LOVE MY BAND! -
My band has been the best tool ever for me to lose weight. I would never have been able to lose 60 lbs without it! LOVE MY BAND!

Good luck to you! The sacrifices you make early on are worth it in the long run! Hang in there.

what to eat and how soon can you eat after you throw up
LapBandBobbi replied to jmunks2000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have found that drinking a cup of hot tea helps me. It just kind of settles everything down. -
Ugh can't believe I'm posting this :-(
LapBandBobbi replied to juliansmom2003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc just told me that a lot of times after your 1 year period, some people may need some slight adjustments. Maybe it's just a timing thing. When was your last fill? -
Not Losing
LapBandBobbi replied to Jerzee Girl 2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
23 pounds since 12/23 is quite a lot. Your body is going thru an adjustment period - just hang in there and don't get discouraged. -
I used to love Red Lobster biscuts, but now I wouldn't think about trying to eat one. I've stayed away from all breads (with the exception of an occassional very thin pizza). I also miss the breadsticks at Olive Garden and Fazolio's - but I'd much rather have the weight loss!
