When will I need smaller clothes?
LapBandBobbi replied to bayareanan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I didn't drop clothes sizes until about 40 pounds. But what made the biggest change was when I started exercising. Then I started dropping sizes quickly. I've gone from 18-20 to 12. Hang in there, it will happen! -
My goal isn't so much the number on the scale, but I would like to be able to wear a size 6 or 8 clothes. At 5'1" I think getting down to a single digit pant size would make me look much better. Not to mention how much better I will feel. I have gone from a size 20 and am currently wearing 12's, but I'm happy to report some of the 12's are getting loose. Good luck to all!

Do tighter clothes make it harder for you to eat?
LapBandBobbi replied to Saraboo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have noticed if I wear jeans that are tight around the waist that I have problems eating. I haven't tried any of the tight under garmets yet. -

Still need to lose another 25 pounds to get out of the "overweight" category - but I know I can do it! Good luck to everyone out there - It's an amazing journey!

Hypothyroidism to hyperthyroidism from weightloss
LapBandBobbi replied to FailureIsntAnOption's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am also on medication for thyroid, but so far I haven't had any changes. I do worry about it and will need to be rechecked in about 3 months. I thought as I lost weight, my medication would go down. Guess I'll just have to wait. But, I don't feel any different. -

I like the Champion brand. You can find them on-line and they have different styles depending on your activity level.

After a stuck episode do you...
LapBandBobbi replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have found that sipping on hot tea after a stuck episode helps me. Then depending on how I'm feeling, I may be able to eat later in the day. Otherwise, I'll stick with liquids for the rest of the day and try to go back to solids the next day. -
The band will definately help you with the huge portions and eating fast. For me, after I finally reached good restriction there is no way I can overeat. It's a great feeling to just be satisfied and not stuffed. The band is just a tool and it takes time to get used to it and for it to work for you. Make sure you do your research before getting banded. This site is a great place to ask questions and read about other people experience. For me, it's been the best decision I have made in regards to my weight loss. Good luck!

I also lose at a slow rate - maybe a pound a week. But, the scale is moving in the right direction. Hang in there and don't obsess over the number on the scale. Be happy with the NSV's!

Congratulations! Keep up the good work!

So it has been a year and...
LapBandBobbi replied to patsal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Patsal - Congratulations on your success so far. I feel like our stories are the same. I have just passed my one year mark and feel like I am a very slow loser too. But, I don't stress over it. I'm very happy with my progress and know the number on the scale will consistantly keep going down. I can't remember the last time I was at my current weight and every day is exciting as I lose more. Keep up the good work and keep your positive attitude! I believe posts like this will inspire others! -
How is everyone handling buying new clothes?
LapBandBobbi replied to topazz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been going to the Goodwill. Not only do I shop there, I donate as well. Funny thing... I went to JC Penney to buy a belt on my lunch the other day because my jeans were just too big. So, I picked up a size "L" and put it around me and thougnt, no I better go with an "XL". When I got back to work and put it on, it was almost too big. I had to put it on the last notch. It's still hard for me to get it in my head that I can fit into something smaller than an 'XL". Good luck to you all! Happy shopping! -
AYFKM??? -2 lbs since Feb. 2? Seriously?!?!
LapBandBobbi replied to catthegrape's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been banded just over a year and have been a slow loser as well. But, I have been very happy with my loss. I've lost on average a pound a week. Sometimes it's frustrating, but I keep telling myself "at least I'm not gaining a pound a week!". One of the benefits of losing slow is not having the hanging excess skin that by-pass patients have. Hang in there and don't be hard on yourself. Remember, this is a lifestyle change. -
How often does everyone weigh in.......?
LapBandBobbi replied to Dakloh's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I weigh myself every few days, but I don't count my weight loss until I have stayed at the same number at least two consecutive weigh-in's. That's when I update ny ticker. -
Off topic But really need advice about relatioship!
LapBandBobbi replied to purple3797's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sounds like you're miserable. Why put more years into a marriage that doesn't look like it will ever work out? Why allow him to verbally abuse you? Run... fast! -
Any one else disgusted?
LapBandBobbi replied to MaineJackie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am more amazed than disgusted when I watch people eat. My surgeon told me that I would notice it and it would make me wonder how people can eat like that. Sometimes it bothers me, but most of the time it doesn't. I often get done eating much sooner than anyone else at the table, and they just look at me like "that's all you're going to eat?" But I know I am much better off eating small portions and taking home leftovers. -
I have never been able to use the chat rooms? Are they not working at all, or could it be something on my system preventing me to get to them?
