My Band has a MIND of its OWN!!!!!!!
LapBandBobbi replied to Princess_Gottalose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have days like that too. I can normally eat more if I'm standing up. It's crazy, but it works! -
Eating without drinking
LapBandBobbi replied to Lady Lexie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not drinking while eating was a huge concern fo rme when I got banded. I didn't think I would be able to break the habit. But, the band really make sure you don't. For me, it's no problem at all now. Good luck! -
CALLING ALL HUGE WEIGHT LOSS PEOPLE
LapBandBobbi replied to lovemysgt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some would not call my weight loss "HUGE", but for me it is! I am a really slow loser and have come to terms with that. I basically eat what I want, since I've got good restriction I really don't over eat. I have been exercising, and that helps too. Good Luck! -
Make sure you're exercising. That really keeps the scale moving - or at least the inches coming off!

Wondering What I will look like after I lose!
LapBandBobbi replied to SDTeaGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not only wonder what you will look like, but what you feel like! It's amazing. I have discovered I have a ribcage and hip bones -
I suggest bringing a pillow for the ride home to hold against you stomach. I had a 2 hr drive home and was miserable with every bump. Good luck!

I'm surprised you are eating solid foods at this point. I was on a liquid diet / soft or mushie foods for almost a month before I could eat solid food again. As far as restriction goes, it may take several months before the band really starts doing it's job. My doctor was very consertative when adding to the band. I probably didn't have good restriction for about 6 months. I did feel full quick, but I could still eat. My advise is to listen to your body and walk away from the table when you feel full. Good luck!

Struggling Big Time
LapBandBobbi replied to Jerseydiva15's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lose at a slow rate too. What finally helped kick my weigh loss into gear was exercising. I think just changing up the routine made a big difference. Hang in there, you're still losing! -
I know bread is going to be tough, but Is Pizza out of the question?
LapBandBobbi replied to Wheeler5051's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can eat thin crust okay. If it's a pan or thick crust, I normally just eat the toppings! Don't totally deprive yourself. You'll figure it out as you go along what you can tolerate. -

avg. weight loss after the band
LapBandBobbi replied to Bucky Allen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've averaged about a pound a week. It has been a slow weight loss, but a good one! I wouldn't trade it for any other kind of "diet". This is a lifestyle change and one I know I can live with! -
Thermal ablasion! One of the best thing I ever did! Talk to your GYN about it.

Clothe sizes have sure changed :0)
LapBandBobbi replied to 54Shirley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats! It's always good to get into smaller sizes! As I try on clothes now, if they're too big, they go into a pile for the goodwill. I don't even put them back in my closet. Love it! -
Morning band tightness
LapBandBobbi replied to brbm6's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is completely normal. I have been banded for over a year and I cannot eat until around 10am or so. I think it's because during the night we get a litte dehydrated and that when the band tightens up. Good luck on your journey! -

What have you lost...
LapBandBobbi replied to LapBandBobbi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Finally lost that Irish Setter and a rack of baby back ribs! -
Good luck and hang in there. It does get better....
-
It really depends on if you have insurance or if you are self-pay. The quicker you can get insurance approval the quicker you can get the surgery. My insurance took about a week to get back to me and approve me. I had my surgery 2 weeks after approval. Good luck!

Congratulations on the 66 pounds so far!!! Good luck with the surgery! -
If you're not already using an on-line calorie counter, that may help. I use www.myfitnesspal.com. Good luck!

Maybe you can find a way to work together and support each other. Now she will have someone to understand what she has been going thru with the surgery and the whole process.
