Hey I made the news lap band

Congratulations! Very inspiring! Keep up the good work!
  2. I was banded 1/28 and have lost 25 lbs so far. 6 of those lbs were from my 2-wk pre-op diet. It is a little frustrating because I think I should be losing more. I do believe I am losing inches because my clothes are getting pretty loose :cursing: Good luck to everyone!
  3. I did the same as all of you.... just hang in there. It is worth a little "hell" right now for long term results. Just talk yourself through each day. It does get better!

    Program Fee

I did not have a program fee at all. I think it should be included in the total cost.

    Insurance fraud vs self pay

My daughter was a self-pay ($15K) and my insurance paid for mine. So far, the hospital/doc's have billed the insurance around $25K. I believe the doctors are expected to "write-off" was is beyond customary. If I were you, I would call your insurance company and ask them to look into it. Sounds like some fraud going on there.
  6. I was banded on a Thursday and went back to work on Monday. I also have a desk job and probably could have went back to work after a couple of days. Good luck!

Congratulations! I can't wait to get there! I'm hoping to hit onederland in the next couple of weeks!

    Just not hungry?

I was banded on 1/28 and had my first fill on 3/8. My doc said that everyone is different and some people may need multiple fills while others only 1 or 2. I've been very surprised how much restriction I've gotten with only 1 fill. I'm scheduled for another one on 4/7. I have a 10cc band with 1cc fill so far. Good luck on what you're doing, it seems to be working!

    January 2010 bandsters...

I'm anxious to see how other January Bandsters are doing. Sometimes the weight loss seems slow, but it is coming off. I was banded 1/28/10 and have lost 25 lbs since my pre-diet. How's everyone else doing?
  10. My problem wasn't so much drinking the shakes, but the lack of actually chewing something. I think it was all psychological. After my first fill, my doc put you back on a liquid diet for a couple of days. I didn't mind the shakes at that time, but when it was time for real food again, it was wonderful! You just have to push thru these critical times. It's worth it in the end.

    First Fill Today!

I had my first fill on Monday and then did 2 days of a liquid diet. That was tough! I was soo hungry. My doc will only put 1cc in each month. I have a 10cc band. Not feeling restriction yet, maybe next month.
  12. I went on a 5-day all inclusive vacation last week and was able to tolerate quite a bit of alchol. I talked to my doc about it Monday and he said it's usually no problem to drink, but he doesn't recommend it because of the calories. I actually gained 3 lbs during the vacation, but quickly lost it once I got back to a regular schedule

    had first fill

I had my first fill Monday. My doc only put 1cc in my 10cc band. He didn't put anything in during the surgery. I'm a little worried about not feeling the restriction either. He said everybody is different and some people may need 5 fills, whereas some will only need 2. He will only fill once per month, so I'm hoping to feel restriction soon.
  14. I'm worried about the same thing. I'm currently a D-cup and know I'll go down to at least a C (even when I was smaller, I had large breasts). I'm afraid of how saggy they'll be. But, I'd rather have saggy boobs than a fat body:smile2:
  15. I had my first fill Monday and the doc only put in 1cc in a 10cc band. I was told to go on liquids for 48 hrs, then gradually start with mushies again. I'm surprised you're already eating food. Good luck! My doc will only add 1cc at a time every 4 weeks. I hope I don't struggle with hunger for much longer.
  16. I was banded on a Thursday and went back to work (office job) the following Monday. No problems and felt great.

    Day Two Post-Op

Just hang in there. It'll take about a week before you feel like you can sleep on your stomach again. I too sleep on my stomach. I just had my first fill on Monday and had trouble sleeping on my stomach that night. I got really nausaus and had to sleep on my back. All was good by the 2nd night. Good luck and hang in there! It is definately worth a little loss of sleep
  18. I would wait until after the vacation to get a fill. My daughter had surgery 2 years ago and had a fill a couple weeks prior to going on vacation and was miserable because she couldn't eat. She also couldn't drink until 3-4 hours after she woke up. I felt bad for her because we were at an all-inclusive 5 star resort and she couldn't enjoy the food. I am 5 wks post-pp and just had my first fill yesterday and did feel a little ill trying to sleep last night. My doc has me on liquids for 3 days after a fill.
  19. I am 5 weeks post-op and had my first fill yesterday. I have lost 17 lbs since the surgery, but only 6 lbs on the pre-diet (which sucked! 2 weeks on a liquid diet and only lost 6 lbs... what's up with that?)
  20. I am 5 weeks post-op and have lost 22 lbs so far. I just had my first fill yesterday so I'm hoping to start losing a little quicker.
  21. I'm right there with you! I get on the scales every morning and the last 2 weeks I've been really disappointed. This morning however, it dropped 1.5 lbs :smile2: I am leaving on vacation for 5 days and won't have access to a scale. So, I hope when I return I see a loss.

    POST OP Diet

I was banded 1/28 and have had the same results as you. I've only lost 20 lbs so far and feel like I'm at a standstill. I do believe it is the change in the diet and I am eating more dense foods. I hope to see the weight coming off again soon.
  23. I was banded on 1/28/10 and at my followup visit with the nutruitionist I had lost a total of 20 lbs (pre-op and post-op). That was 2 weeks ago, and I have not lost a pound since then. I started eating soft foods, but don't think I've over-eaten. It is very frustrating because I would like to see the 2 lbs / week. I know my calorie input is 1000 or less per day. Has anyone else experienced this?

    Alcohol

I will be 1 month post-op when I go on vacation to an all-inclusive resort in Mexico. Needless to say, I worry about if alchol will have an affect on me. I plan to try to stick to vodka with juice. I rarely drink, so I don't want to put out the wrong impression here, but I do want to be able to have a couple of drinks and not feel guilty. Anyone else try alchol only a month post-op?
  25. I was also banded on 1/28. My stitches were on the inside and he applied steri-strips over them. The strips are still there and the doc recommended to let them fall off by themself and not to pull them off. I've been pretty lucky and didn't have much bleeding. I'm hoping to get rid of the strips sometime this week... they're looking pretty rough.
