As I look back at some of the previous posts, it sure looks like my weight loss has been much slower than others (congratulations to you all). I am at almost 50 lbs lost and feel very good about my weight loss. I just started exercising on a regular basis, so maybe this will boost my weight loss. I must say, I am very happy and excited about exercising. In the past, it was a chore and I hated it. Now, I look forward to it. Everyone keep up the good work!

Hello! I am from the Terre Haute area and had surgery in Noblesville with Dr. McEwen. So far, it's been the best decision I've ever made in regards to weight loss. My progress has been slow and steady. I went to the doc yesterday and am very happy with my results so far. I am very close to the 50 lb mark - about 1/2 way. Good luck with your surgery. If you need anything, just ask!

Congratulations! I am very near to the 50 lb mark too. I finally got good restriction a couple of months ago. I've lost 15 lbs in the last 2 months. I've just started exercising, so I'm hoping to keep up the pace.

Getting dressed this morning, my husband looked at me and said "WOW - I can really see the difference". Guess he wasn't looking that closely before - LOL. It was nice to hear, since when you live with someone the changes are slow to see.

I don't like the chewables, so I went to GNC and bought a vita-pack with 4 different daily vitiams. A couple of the pills are big, but I can take them mid-afternoon and I don't have any problems with them. Not sure if my doc would approve of these since they are not bariatric, but I am going to the doc on Monday and will ask them. Overall, I feel better taking these than I did the Bariatric Advantage.

I DID set off the metal detector scanner in a federal courthouse recently. I have flown a few times since the band without any problems. I am however going to get a card when I go to my doctor next week.

I enjoyed the article. It was never really explained to me that way, but it does make sense. I know the band does not do all the work for you, but is to be used as a tool. Very interesting. Thanks for posting.

Maybe you'll have good restriction for Thanksgiving! It took me about 4 fills to really get good restriction. I will be going back in on Monday and I don't think I will get a fill. This will be two months in a row without a fill, but I am finally losing at 1-2 lbs a weeks. Hang in there, it'll happen!

I felt the same way at first. I always drank 1-2 big glasses of water or tea with my meals. I thought it would be very difficult to break the habit. Once I got good restriction, I wasn't able to do it. In the beginning, I would just sip as needed. I think out of habit I still have a drink with each meal, but very seldom drink more than a sip or two. Good luck!

Ultimately, this is your decision. If you've done your research and feel comfortable with your decision then stick with it. Tell your Aunt she needs to do some more research before causing everyone to get upset and worried. I agree with Betsy's comments above.

I struggled early on as well. As I got more fills, I got restriction. I remember being able to eat just about anything, now I can barely get 4 oz down in one setting. Hang in there, it'll happen.

Congratulations! That is amazing and I am very happy for you. It's also nice to know you can get rid of those bigger size 12's and 14's LOL!

My doc encourages exercise, but understands that in the beginning you may not want to. He said after you lose 40-50 lbs you'll want to start doing more. I think he's right!

I was happy to see how well Tina did after she went home and the progress her daughter is making. I like the new theme "Pay it Forward".

I have FEP BCBS and they approved me right away without question. I had Humana a couple years ago and got denied. I think BCBS is a little quicker to approve. Good luck to you!

I called my doc and the receptionist said I was the the 1st case she has heard of setting of the metal detector. I go back in for my next visit next week and I'll make sure I get a card to carry with me. I have flown a few times since the surgery and haven't had any problems. I think the detectors at the court house was set on a very high sensitivity. I don't think the doc left anything "extra" in me during the surgery because they do x-rays the following morning.

It wasn't the bra and when they scanned me with the wand, it was in my stomach area.
