    From what I read they will give you underwear to put on along with a pad from them... but im sure it depends on the hospital... Im pretty sure that area will be covered if your on your period!

    I'm 22 yo Weight - 300 lbs (goal weight of ~150) Height - 5'7 Band Date - May 17th Location - Chicago area Outlook - Extremely optimistic also!! Our stats are pretty much the same your just a few inches shorter then me! Who is your surgeon , I know my surgeon has an office in OH.

    I have my pre-op appt this wednesday thats when Ill find out about my pre-op diet! Im scared to even have my blood drawn, drs can never find my veins! ahh! What is your pre-op diet?

    This is really sad. You should be with someone that supports you! But maybe he is scared you are going to leave him when you get skinny, he sounds very insecure.

    Has anyone gone into this just not caring who knows and who they tell? The only people that knew I was thinking about it was my close family and now my mom is the only one that knows Im going to have it done and that the date is set (may 17th!!!). Its sad because she doesn't seem excited for me anymore, like its now real to her and she never wants to talk about it or get excited. I haven't told any of my friends that I am having it done, nor did I tell anyone at work why I need a week off, they just think Im going on vacation. I am feeling more alone then ever at this point and its not a good feeling at all :-(

    I was scared.. I still am scared and I am getting banded on 5/17 but I have done my research and I know this is the best thing for me and my future! Ask all the questions you need to your dr and on these boards, do your research and make the best choice for you and your family!

    It should be pretty fast if your self paying. The tests depend on your doctor.. I haven't taken any tests yet and my surgery date is 5/17. All i had to do was a 3 month diet and a phsych evaluation that was required by insurance. I started in January and I was approved last friday.

    I am 22 and I am getting banded 5/17. I have been overweight my whole life and nothing seems to work for me neither. Always remember that it is reversable if that is what you want but its a great tool you can use to keep the weight off for the rest of your life. And its ok to have kids with the band!! I cant put any insight into what its like living with the band because I am not banded yet, but I know this is what I want and I want to live the rest of my 20's happy!

    I hope im ok to go to work in a week! I start a brand new job the week after surgery! New life for me! I didnt really have to do much to get approved.. a 3 month diet and a phsych evaluation. It ended up being like two months, i guess my insurance accepted that i visited my dr 3 times as long as it was in the different months.. so I kinda just sat back and waited...but I am a baby when it comes to pain so I am going to make it worth it!

    Yea i hear Dr. Shayani is very good but I work in Bolingbrook (for two more weeks just got a new job!!!) and I am just not a fan of the city itself, not saying she is a bad dr because of it, I guess I am just hate that town! HAHA! My dr is in oakbrook, Dr. Watkins. I really liked him and the girls in his office are awesome! I am so excited to get banded, May 17! I am way nervous though! DO you go to a gym, which one?
