Hi Joanne, I had lap band surgery in Mexico a year ago last March. I didn't go with Dr. Ortiz but have met others that have and were happy withhim and their entire experience. I had my surgery in Monterrey Mexico with Dr. Rumbault and he was amazing. The hospital was big and immaculate like nothing you have ever seen here. Spotless, marble floors everywhere, beautifull art and even a door man for the elevator. They gave me a chart that translated english to spanish because as much as the nurses tried to be heplfull their english wasn't very good. However I had acess to my doctor by phone 24 hours a day and access to 2 other english speaking doctor's on call at the hospital. My doctor even came to check on me at my hotel the day after I was discharged from the hospital. Needless to say I couldn't have asked for better care or a safer more modern hospital. I have never had any problem with my band and have found a great local doctor for aftercare and fills. I am certainly not taking anything away from the local options for this surgery because I have also met others and heard many excellent things about both NWWL and FC, but I also wanted to share my very positive experience in Mexico with you. I wish you the best of luck in making your decision and proceeding towards a happier you.

Hi my name is Tannya and I am a local post op lap band patient. I had my surgery last March with Dr.Rumbault in Monterrey,Mexico and I am now seeing Dr.Arseneau for my fills and after care.I have 3.2cc in a 4cc band and am at a good place right now with my restriction/tolerance. I have had some struggles along the way but all in all I am very pleased with my weight loss to date, which is about 85 pounds in 10 and a half months. I've been attending the Lions Gate Hopsital support meeting since I returned and everyone there has been wonderfull and very supportive. I just felt like it might be nice to be able to communicate with other banded people on a little more frequent basis,so here I am! Thanks for listening,Tannya:redface:

Hi Patrica, Although we've met many times at the support group, I haven't actually ever posted on this site before but Doreen suggested it to me at the last meeting. I am really glad you are hanging in there and are doing okay and I really hope all goes well with your husband"s tests and treatment. After having to miss November and December's meetings it was nice to finally make January's. Although it was a small turn out, it was wonderfull all the same. I had asked how things were going with you since I hadn't seen you in a few months but nowbody seemed to sure. Anyways I would definately be willing to come to the Feb.17th meeting if others are interested as well and I look forward to seeing you in March.Take care,Tannya
