    "Courtesy Card"

Months back I read about a 'card' that Banders can carry in our wallets for when we go out to eat; asking for the courtesy of a 1/2 portion, or the ability to be allowed to eat off the childrens menu. Does anyone know where I can get it? Yup...I'm about to become a 'cheap date'!! :clap2:

    Hey PRE-Banders...!

Another thing that I bet not many of you have thought about....when I travel (I do this often to the Caribbean for diving), I normally pack a 27 or 28 inch suitcase and jam everything in, with no room to spare. Once I loose the weight, I'll be able to pack for a whole weekend in a cute little 'weekender' bag. My clothes will be much smaller in volume; therefore I can pack in a much smaller space. I laugh when I think how I could pack for a whole week in a carry on. I WILL do that one day soon. I leave for Cayman in October. :kiss2:
  3. I've been gathering items I'll need, and wanted to add a few items, but I can not. How come?
  4. Thanks for these posts...they're helping to calm me down. I am SURE to freak out that day. My Mom promised she won't let me back out. She knows I want this more than anything.

    Several meds taken and surgery?

I am concerned about my pills too, as I take; birthcontrol, toprol, blood pressure meds and diabetes med. Not to mention my suppplements. Some of mine can not be crushed and don't come in liquid form. My multi will be chewable Centrum.

    January Bandsters???

Cindy!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!! You really put a different perspective on it for me. You are right; once I have my 1st PB, it will be my 'right of passage' to Bandster land. :clap2: I'm still not looking forward to it. Believe me, I'll use your lesson learned as my own...I don't think I'd be brave enough to attempt a roll/bread of any sort; for my PB fear will keep me off those carbs anyway. Again, mucho thanks for making me feel a bit more at ease.

    2006 Movies

We watched Talledega Nights. I never laughed so hard. I guess it could possibly have had something to do with the bottle of Korbel I was having??? lol

    January Bandsters???

I hate vomitting so badly, I cry when I do. I mean, it just wipes me out, and makes me sad. I'm horrified of the first time I PB, or even slime. I'm just so afraid of when it will happen. Is it something that I can 'hold' back, enough time to let me excuse myself from the table to the ladies room? And the sliming, I picture it like a rabid dog or something. I know it is different for everyone. I just hope it doesn't make me cry also. lol:(

    6 Freaking Months!??!

I was able to submit years of medical records from my OBGYN which documented my being over weight for more than 5 years. I also submitted logs from weight watchers. And having started seeing a nutritionist right away when I started my inquiry of the band, knowing that would be an eventual plus in getting approval. I started my journey in June doing serious research, joined this board in September, and here I am, just 3 weeks away from my surgery date. I know you're mad, upset or disappointed - we've all been there at some point. Trust me, you'll need 6 months just to get yourself well enough educated to make this huge change in your life. Good luck. Sheri lynn

    January Bandsters???

Awwwwww, Come on ya'll...this is a stressful enough time for me, and alot of other people. We come here to destress, not have to put up with mud slinging!!! If at the very least; please take it off line, or have your account frozen! I enjoy this board way too much to have a spoil sport ruin it for me. Now chill, reead some good informational posts - and move on with it! PS; I too am finishing my Masters...so this isn't coming from someone 'ignorant'.

    Last Supper

Hi, I'm really trying to avoid the 'Last Supper Syndrome', with a bit less than a month to go. I really 'do' want to have some things that I truly may not be able to handle post surgery. If I were 'Dead Man Walking', or truly having a 'Last Supper' for myself, I would eat: macaroni and Cheese! French Bread with Brie Filet Mignon Fried Calamari Sushi Mom's chicken Soup with orzo Lamb chops Those are my few. What about you guys...what would be yours?

    January Bandsters???

Hey Sunshine...I still don't have a surgery date twin :cry He He He I think that by me keeping a daily diary, when I am 4-5 months out, and miss food, and want to pig out...I can look back at my entries, and yell at myself. Realize how I am feeling exactly. I'm being very specific on my entries, how I feel, what I'm feeling, how I look etc....all incentive for 4-5 months out - to help keep me going, and not regretting.
  13. Hey all… I have a food inquiry, that I've not yet seen addressed. I have read that after the band, a lot of folks can not tolerate shrimp, chicken and even eggs. I was wondering if, for the mushies stage, anyone has tried Shrimp Salad, Chicken Salad, Tuna Salad or Egg salad - made with mayo? I have an "Ulitmate Chopper" and the thing does wonders. Just curious to see how you may have tolerated these things. Seems to me they'd be a great source of protein. Not to mention they can be very versatile. What do you think?? Thanks!

    Clothing swap anyone?

Hey all... Over the weekend, I'm going to think about giving our swap some 'structure'...to make it easier for all. If you have any suggestions, I'd gladly take them. Going to work on the DB, to see if he can even get a web page together...

    January Bandsters???

Wow Angy...you day sounds EXACTLY how I pray for mine to go...smooth sailing all the way. Not to mention the 'knocked out' parts! lol Congrats! Now comes all the fun.... Keep us posted, please!

    Clothing swap anyone?

Fantastic! Perhaps we can get a sticky out of this....keep it on hand, update regulary with what is available. We can be sure to ONLY send PM's for what we're interested in...have an understanding that postage reimbursement is only fair. And of course, first come first served basis. Sound good for ground 'rules'?? I think this will be fantastic, and could be done....

    January Bandsters???

You guys are the best...keeping me occupied with all of your comments and concerns for each other. I am on this board constantly, waiting, waiting, waiting. Do we all have to do shots for blood clots, or is that something different? If so...lord help me! I pass out. No, really, seriously. I'm a big baby like that.
  18. Not sure if any of you have done this... I'm really fond of having a dinner setting 'set' for myself; whether I'm eating alone or the whole family. Now that my portions are going to be so tiny, and liquid for a while after my band (1/30), I have been searching for a very special 'place setting' for myself. I'm not looking at Lenox or anything, but just something that will help make my 'dinner' look beautiful in a gorgeous glass, or mug or even bowl. Any little pick me up like that; I think goes a long way.
  19. Still nothing has caught my eye. I'm sure I'll find something 'pretty and special'. Want to make all my mushies look like the works of Emeril himself! lol

    Hey PRE-Banders...!

I was also thinking HOW GREAT it would be to go to the outlets, and actually be able to fit into some "Calvin Klein" clothes; or any of the 'really cheap GREAT samples'. Oh Lord...I pray I pray. hehehe :faint:

    January Bandsters???

HEY PEACHES! Sleeep well...feel good; and CONGRATULATIONS! I'm oh so jealous!! Called my Doc this a.m. My new insurance went into affect yesterday - and my 'wait' time with BC/BS NJ is about two weeks for approval or denial - which sucks.

    What pushed you to commit?

:girl_hug: WOW Julie...you have just summed it all up for me! You wrote that about ME, if I didn't know any better. The statistics are amazing. Your weight loss is phenomenal; you are my inspiration! My Dr; Abkin - studied under your doctor. I get banded on 1/30...and I just keep trying to look ahead, so I can write to those aspiring bandsters and be proud, like you! Congrats~! I printed your posting, and I'm putting it in my purse to carry with me.

    Carb Haters

I too will join 'Carb Haters'!!! Not so much b/c I 'hate' to eat them. I love macaroni with butter or cheese (another reason I'm fat). I will tell you this; doing Atkins a few times in my life - that is when I 'feel' the best! Off of carbs, I sleep GREAT, I can relax, I don't burp so much and my heart feels good (I have mitral valvue prolapse). I KNOW I am better without them; so it's not something that I'll miss after I get banded. :girl_hug:
  25. Exactly my point!! Also, I'm going to make the change to salad plates for myself (not my family). Smaller plates make my portions look bigger. I also read that cocktail forks are a great 'training' tool for making smaller bites easier and more accurate. Otherwise, I'll just continue to shovel!! lol
