    But I hate exercising!

BabyGotBack... I saw that DVD on a late night infommercial; but wasn't sure if it would be too difficult! Tell me what you think of it!!!

    But I hate exercising!

I truly envy and admire those folks I see jogging every day, at home, at work, whereever. They get a 'runners high'. I would love to feel what they're talking about. How come these folks don't make excuses? Why do they have the time that i don't? I hope that the weight that will be coming off will increase my energy level enough to get me into a routine.

    But I hate exercising!

I figured the only way to be sure to excercise is to make it fun. So.......I bought a trampoline. Yes, you heard right! Not a big giant one, but a personal sized one. I may look a little foolish; but it will be 'fun'...I could do that!!!:phanvan
  4. Two nights ago I had a conversation with my best girlfriend about me getting the band. This is the girl who told me that this was silly, I can just do WW again, blah blah. Long story short, I was able to tell her about my knowledge, my seminars I've gone to and support groups. In the end - she's now completley behind me. Worried about me, sure - but supports my decision!!!!! I'm thrilled about it. What I'd like to do is email her a link that can explain the Band in 'laymans' terms. Something simple and easy for her to understand. Any suggestions?
  5. Get it now...keep in mind there will be a 'mad dash' being that it's a requirements as of 1/23/07!

    Clothing swap anyone?

I've made a deal with myself; unless it's under $10 on clearance - I don't buy it! Simple as that. You may not think that $10 goes a long way...but with Lord & Taylor, Macys, coupons, Marshalls, TJ Maxx...you'd be VERY surprised at all the designer duds I've been buying in smaller sizes. Not sure WHEN I can wear them, but I know I will. After an ever so wise woman on here advised me; STOP buying shoes, as they'll get too big as well.

    Clothing swap anyone?

I too am guilty of writing the 'organizational' posts. I have also solicited for some ideas on how best to organize. This could really work!

    Sorry for myself???

I am very stressed today, and here is why… I've been researching again and again and again on the band. First I was researching both the band and RNY, came to the conclusion the RNY was too drastic/scarey for me - didn't want to reroute my insides. I've been great with my decision on the band. I know the weight won't come off as fast as with RNY…but I could live with that. My parents and boyfriend have also been very supportive. They're terrified for me, but they support me. Just last night Mom said to me, "You know at the seminar those people were twice your size, you were the smallest one there. They are the people that need to have the surgery, not you". I thought I would die, as my chin hit the floor!!! I was so upset, it really left me speechless - which is very hard to do. I just said to her "If you don’t stop trying to talk me out of it - I'll tell Daddy". Yes, a Daddys Little Girl (sue me). She left me alone with that…but it sent me to bed in a tailspin; doubting myself again. After a few hours I was able to dismiss her comment. So today on the drive in I thought of it, just shrugged it off as her way of showing me her concern, and I love her for that. I'm STILL going on with my Band on 1/30. Then of all things this a.m. I came into an email from my best friend (who is not supportive at all…we don't even talk about my upcoming banding). Anyway, she sent me a pic of herself with a friend I used to have - before her RNY. (She got VERY condesending when she had the surgery…I did away with that friendship). Anyway, when I saw the pic of my friend - PENCIL thin just 18 months later. True, she's too thin…wearing a size 0. But when I saw it, all I could think was "She and I used to be the same size!" and "I want to be very thin for once in my life". Then came the doubts about the Band vs. RNY. So here I am all a.m. stressing about it, and just staring at her picture…each part of me feeling so incredibly jealous….you can't even imagine. I don’t want to doubt my decision. I'm very happy with it. I'm not even feeling scared anymore - just anxious! Maybe I'm even just feeling sorry for myself. :rolleyes
  10. I never would be going through with this if it weren't for all of the 'real life' information that I've learned here. Thank you all!

    January Bandsters???

Well, I let my HR and Benefits department know today; and I prefilled my disability claim for the time I'm out of the office. Pre-Admission called me from my hospital as well. So this is really it! Just a bit more than two weeks away! Now...what will my last supper be?????? lol:eek:
  12. After getting my approval yesterday, I kind of 'froze'. I'm not sure when I should tell my H.R. Department that I'll be out for a bit. (I qualify for Short Term Disability). So I'll probably take the two weeks. Mostly b/c I'll have to adjust to everything, and with my diabetes, not eating, and my blood pressure going up and down…I want to be regulated before driving 1.5 hours to work and back every day. Any opinions on this? I called BC/BS who said I certainly am approved, and for ONE Night Hospital stay. My surgeon didn't mention this; I'm assuming b/c most folks do not stay over night. The insurance woman told me I should have been notified. However…if my insurance approved it, and is going to pay for it - I WANT to stay overnight. I want to have access to the nurses, watching my blood sugars, etc., not to mention I may feel more comfortable knowing if anything is wrong, I'll be in the right place. Should I mention it to my surgeon that I want to stay overnight?

To stay or not to stay?

Hey everyone, Thanks for the input. I think I will choose to stay. I'm very 'new' to the diabetes, just diagnosed the last 6 weeks or so. Not yet on insulin, but the medications that they have put me on, PLUS new meds for my blood pressure - are making me have 'weak' or 'dizzying' episodes. I think just being monitored overnight; and hopefully progressing from clear liquids to protein shakes might be the thing for me! I'll see the Doc next Wednesday at my 'pre-op' class - I'll tell them then.

    January Bandsters???

I got my approval from Blue Cross/Blue Shield NJ! I am now officially, undoubtedly, positively, "THE QUEEN OF JANUARY 30"! LOL…as me on January 31…and I may feel more like a 'jester'…black and blue!!! hehehehehe

    sushi?

Sushi is one of the things that really worried me; knowing or thinking I'd have to give it up all together. Knowing this, I 'tested' sushi made with 'soy paper' instead of with seaweed (which would be horrible going down). Also, just ask your sushi chef if they can make it with very little rice - if any at all! Trust me, the taste is still delicious!:hungry:

    January Bandsters???

Thanks Sunshine2, for my little acknowledgement about seeking a 'Band Twin'. But I've decided to 'embrace it'….lol. :heh: I am now the QUEEN OF JANUARY 30. I will brave it singluarly, but NOT ALONE!!!! :funnypost:

    Hair Loss

Hair loss was one of my biggest fears (still is). After doing a ton of research, I kept hearing take 'biotin'. So in preparation, I started it 4 months ago. I can tell you this; my hair is thicker and shinier than ever! So, if I do experience any hair loss, hopefully it won't be noticable. Just food for thought.

    Yeahhhhhh Babyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!

Congrats on your letter. I have new insurance as of 1/1/07...so this is a waiting game. I'm scheduled for 1/30...and was told I may not even know until the day before if I'm approved by insurance! I called my Dr. Office today and they told me to call on Monday at 1 p.m. Wish me luck. If I'm denied (there is no reason I should be!)...I'll be totally devestated! :faint:

    Weight Loss on The View

Who knows…maybe it's their little secret way of 'cutting at Starr Jones'. That show is so catty these days, nothing would surprise me. :bored
  23. Yup...just figured it out, will be getting the good old period just two days after banding. Oh well. I was thinking of scheduling my OBGYN appointment for the week after surgery, so I can go while I have time off from work. Any thoughts? Was wondering if doing the whole stirrup thing might be a little difficult? Never was before banding, shouldn't be after...right?

    "Courtesy Card"

Barbara465 - I'm inquiring, as there are many places that I go now, that I will CONTINUE to go to after my band. Rodzio resturants, Japanese resturants and few buffets. I'm asking about the card, would like to have it since there is a 'set cost' per adult, lets say $60. Whereas a child may only be $17.50. I may be on my way to getting skinny....doesn't mean on my way to being rich - so any little bit helps. I'm not proud. As far as someone with cancer - my father had throat cancer. He now lives with an extremely narrow esophagus and no saliva, making meals out difficult. Resturants DO make exceptions. Well...the better ones anyway.
