Had my 1st post band 'meal'

Hey Jack, I do have a mushies stage; the fish is on the list. I suppose the spinach is not! Ugh...live and learn. I was told to keep it to about 4oz, which is right for what I ate.

I bought an ointment specifically for scars. Seems it should be a bit more healed before I try it.
  4. Kim, You're already back to work...where I still haven't gone back, and I'm two weeks tomorrow. YES, you are definately swollen inside. It took me 11 days to realize that the a.m.'s are really hard, when I'm most restricted also. I never thought I'd see the light at the end of the tunnel...it just took me longer to get there.

    Gas Questions

It was 11 days of HELL for me with the gas pains. I was walking around the house all hours of the day and night trying to just work it out of my body. THAT was the worst part of it for me.
  6. Congrats, as I hear his one of the very best. Turns out my surgeon studied under him, learned to do the surgery from him, actually!!!

Is it normal to be burbing?

If that's my body's way of saying I'm full...then I'm full ALL of the time!

My steristips came off today - and I am horrified! The port incision is about 2 inches long - and oh so ugly. The other three - aren't as bad, really nothing more than scratches. I'll try to post soon. Any advice on this type of scarring?

"Boob Guy" - What is the deal with men and big breasts?

YOU JUST SPOKE FOR ME, 42DD (maybe a 40 now!). Oh so true, how men love 'em. I do have one male friend (married) who hates boobs. His wife is flat as a board; and they're both happy with that. But I think he's the only one I've ever met. As for being perky...not on their own. I spend alot of $ on good bras, and effort on good shirts that FLAUNT!

    Jack for president 08

VOTE for JACK!!! I agree. I think I look forward to his posts more than any other.:clap2:
  11. Did you spit it out b/c you were scared? I'm terrified to try foods. It's like learning all over! I got very 'rebellious' today. lol Took Italian Wedding soup, blended it, and thought it would something 'different' than the cream Soups I've been doing. Yuck. Had the taste, but the texture grossed me out; so I threw it out.

Do you call your pet smtg other than its name?

I have two cats: Martini (Tini) who's middle name is "Olive". She goes by TTB (Tini Tiny Baby, when she was a kitten). And Cosmopolitan, who we call Cosmo, Cozzie, Kramer, Bitsty (started out at Bitchy, but was awkward calling her that in public at the vet!)
  13. I have 3 days left on my full liquids; then onto mushies. But at this point I'm dying to 'bite' something, rather than just swallowing Soup. UGH! How bad would it be if I were to have a little chicken? Also, since I'm allowed cottage cheese, you think hummus would be ok?

    January Bandsters???

Hey all... For those of you who have read my b*tching and complaining...well - it's over (hopefully for good). Yesterday I hit rock bottom, and there was no where to go but up. Seemed that 11 a.m. yesterday I just said "Self, we're going to get well". I forced water down, cottage cheese, boullion - MADE myself sip sip sip sip for hours. Not one pain pill. I swear it was the gas pain in the back that was really doing a number on me. Anyway, last night I felt like 'me'...just different. Woke up this a.m., thought I was ok. Went for my a.m. glass of apple juice, had the protein shake - then WHOA! Didn't feel too good. Didn't drink for a few hours, as the 'pain the back' returned. Realized that I must be very restricted in the a.m., and I have to be careful. I was actually able to go out and about today! Mom brought me to CVS, where I dropped a ton of $ on 'stuff'...out of boredom at home all this time. Anyway, I hope that I continue to improve and feel better. Thanks to all who have given me such great advice. You're right; it did get better!:clap2: <!-- / message -->
  15. I've never inquired about this. I'm curious to know, if I drink 1/2 cup of Water, how fast does it empty out of the pouch? Only curious, b/c I'm being told to sip sip sip sip, etc. to keep me well and hydrated. I'm afraid of overflowing the pouch. Any ideas? I guess it varies, considering that I'm starting to understand NOW - 10 days later - that I'm swollen in there!
  16. I've been struggling w/pain from gas etc since surgery. Taking percocet and tonight at 10 p.m. took liquid tylenol. At 12:20 just two hours ago, I had a burp. Not like any burp - it immediately made me feel horribly nauseous. I started to panic, I started to spit up just spit; no bile. Then came the spasms as if I was vommiting. Luckily I was able to stop it. I sat in the recliner for the last two hours, hardly moving. Put a cold cloth on my face and tried to relax. Just got up for the potty, and some more burps. I am horrified. This is really turning out to be a disaster for me. I don't feel pain, just some discomfort. How worried should I be about a slip? Should I call the Dr. in the a.m.?

    January Bandsters???

GOSH.....you all inspire me! I'm 10 days out...and just miserable. For any of you who have read my posts, I'm just not feeling well. I want to feel good, plan dinners out, heck, I even want to have an appetite! I have no desire for food, Water, Protein shakes - nothing at all. Funny, isn't it!?? I've done walking around the house, too cold/icy here to go outside. Got on my rebounder just one day and walked for 5 minutes, thought I'd die afterwards. There is definately something to say for taking it easy!! Well, hopefully I'll head toward my two week mark feeling alot better, by next Tuesday. My first appointment for my after visit with the Doctor is on Wednesday.
  18. Hey all, I have 4 incisions, 1 is my port. The port steri-strip seems to be seeping a little bit. Not alot. Only if I touch it, I see a bit of moisture. Should I be alarmed? It's not red, inflamed more than normal after surgery, no big red circle around it, etc. I was told to remove the bandages that covered them after 48 hours, and let the strips fall off as they wish. Should I be concerned about this little bit of clearish/yellowish seepage? Thanks!
  19. Hey all... 1 week post op now. I came down with a nasty type of cold, with post nasal drip. I'm blowing out as much as possible, but I still feel a bit of a tickle in the back of my throat. I keep having fits of coughing. I'm worried...can this make my band slip? I suppose I should get some type of OTC cough syrup. Ugh...I hate being on all these meds!:help:
  20. I know they told me the gas gets caught up in the shoulders; I'm past that point. Then the gas was moving up and down the belly. That's going too. Now I'm feeling more 'tingling' in the belly - air bubbles. But my biggest complaint is in my left lower back. I was worried it was my kidney. I was wondering if the bubbles can get 'caught' back there as well? I was increased today from 60 - 80 ounces of liquids...b/c of my pains, etc.

I feel like a big baby.

I wish I felt like I was doing great, thanks for the encouraging words. This is like a soap opera to me. So much drama; would love to fast forward a few days. Get all the pain over with!
  22. I come on here for support; the best I could ever get anywhere - thank you all. But I also come on here now, since I've started feeling bad...and I'm just 'Debbie Downer'. I don't mean to be, thats not the person I am. I'm just reading all the January Bandsters posts; and everyone is doing so fabulous. And then there is me. Up again tonight with gas pains so uncomfortable, I'm just walking in circles. Mom keeps saying give it time, time, time. Yea yea yea. I'm being impatient perhaps. Some of the Bandsters around the same time as me, are up and out and about. Not me - I'm still weak and cranky and aggitated. I'm trying alot of 'self talk'...that I feel great, etc. Ain't workin'. lol I just feel that mine is the 1 in 100 that turns out bad after surgery. I'll tell you what, I'm down 12.5lbs in the week...and I'd rather not have lost anything my first week, in order to feel better.:sick

I feel like a big baby.

Hey Enterprise, I'm just staying in sweats until the day I have to go back to work. Today was another horrible day; gas galore. I have it stuck by my left kidney. I just worry that it could be a kidney issue. I know, all sorts of crazy stuff goes through my head. Steri Strips didn't budge in the shower today. No rush, I don't think I want to see what lies beneath! lol I took a percocet today and it nearly knocked me out! I just laid down, and let that horrible feeling pass. I don't want to go to bed too early, as I'd love to be able to sleep through the night. I only have a few percocet left, so I'm rationing them. Did find a bottle of liquid Vicodin from my Dads surgery a few months ago. I may eventually have to dip into that.

I feel like a big baby.

Thank you all so much for your words of encouragement. I suppose I'm not the most patient person. I did speak with the surgeons nurse practioner; she made me feel better as well. She said the same that all of you have been telling me - GIVE IT TIME! As for today, I've done alot of crying. But I'm over that now, and hopefully tomorrow there will be no tears.
  25. Hi, I'm just 8 days out. I know it was surgery, but nothing like a bypass would have been. I am very uncomfortable; still can't get a right position in the night to sleep through, without an Ambien. I feel like I'm getting some headaches, that can be due to the cold I've seemed to have caught right after surgery. My major complaint is that I don't feel 'normal', or 'good'. There are so many new feelings I'm dealing with - and I think for the most part I'm afraid they're going to stay with me. For instance, the way I burp is different, it's held back, and followed by a pain that feels like 'pricks'. In my stomach, I feel like it's pins and needles of sorts. I kind of expected to have the band, eat until full then empty - and feel hunger again. I haven't felt any hunger in over a week. HEHE - funny I should be complaining about that! Could this be the 'normal' that I will now be facing? Will I always have this 'pins and needles' feeling in my tummy? I'd kill to let out a good strong belch. I'm confusing gas with nausea. Heck, I think it's time I might have to get to the shrink...:faint:
