Thanks for the kind words! My wife said she couldn't beleive how depressed I was after getting the news... On the flip side, apparently I was pretty funny during the procedure. I don't remember, but my wife said I told the doctor he should look at my wisdom teeth during the colonoscopy since he'd gone so deep...

I just found out this morning that I'm approved by insurance (took 3 days). I'm scheduled for Monday, November 13th. But, then I got a call from my PCP this afternoon saying he needs to see me tomorrow, that my lab work showed low Iron, and a "little" anemia. :angry Anyone else run into this? I don't think I can sleep tonight waiting to find out what's going on...

I'll post this afternon after getting looked at as to my status.

If anybody cares, I found out today that I have low oxygen levels as a result of low iron/hemoglobin. I was sent directly to the gastroenterologist for either continuing loss of blood (no symptoms), or lack of ability to absorb Iron. My PCP says I should be dizzy, confused, weak, and fatigued, for lack of oxygen (91% at rest, 78% when asleep). So, I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy (sorry, TMI!) and endoscopy tomorrow to look for blood. My surgery is still scheduled for Monday just in case, but I'm not holding out too much hope... Wish me luck!

Thanks for the support. I'm not worried about long-term management, but I would hate to have my surgery rescheduled because of this... :Banane10: :sigh:

Why does my nose run when I am full?
rsbell replied to Irish Girl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My nose runs when I'm full, too. I'm not scheduled for banding for another 2 weeks... -
I would be SHOCKED if it only prolonged a person's life by 2 years! That's like saying that being morbidly obese only shortens a person's life by 2 years, and I don't think you would find a study/physician anywhere that would agree with that. At the very least, as someone already pointed out, your remaining years are SO much better thin than morbidly obese. I'm not banded yet (should be end of November), but I don't understand the hesitation. I'll take surgery, recovery, completely modified eating habits, and weighing a hundred pounds less over living one more DAY like this anytime! I'm not hesitating, second guessing myself, or looking back. Let's get this over with so I can start my REAL life!

Attorney. Mostly bankruptcy and family law. I hope someday to figure out what I really want to do!

I actually just finished my initial orientation a couple of days ago, and I asked the surgeon what was wrong with caffeine. He told me that caffeine promotes appetite. FWIW. :hungry:

Awesome! I can't wait to feel what you are feeling! :clap2:

Thanks! I'll keep the forum informed as I make my way through the process. Hope I don't get derailed along the way!

Guy here. I'm just starting the process, but hope to be banded in November. My insurance will pay pretty much no questions asked with a 40 BMI (and I'm VERY close), and a co-worker of mine had the bypass within 2 months of being eligible through the insurance. I'm crossing my fingers!

It's pathetic that they are making you jump through so many hoops. What evidence does your insurance need other than the scale telling you you're "320"?! Granted, I'm new to this forum, and am just starting the process of getting my lp, it just annoys me to no end that some insurance company is making it so dificult for you to have this life-altering (and potentially life-saving) procedure. Ok, I feel better. Good luck!
