Rockin Robin replied to readyforchange15's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
5 more days and I start soft food. I am so scared. I have actually been loving puree and would just stay right here if I could!! I am still stalling and not liking it Hopefully soon it kicks back in. Hopefully they release me to the gym the 30th. -
Don't get a lap band
Rockin Robin replied to Stupid Me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope it keeps working for you for sure. Everyone has to figure out what the right surgery for them is. I made the wrong decision for me sadly because I was scared to death to get cut on inside. I finally gave in and wish I chose this in the first place. I am pretty sure the sleeve is the right one for me. I finally feel the restriction I could never accomplish all those years. The sleeve smacks my hand like I am a child which is exactly what I needed lol I can tell by your chart that you are doing awesome. Keep up the good work! -

My blood sugar numbers are staying high and I dont understand that because the only sugar I have had was in the creamer in hubbys coffee I sipped one day. They prepared me and told me what meds to stop when it got low during pre op diet....never got low and still isnt. I am down 37 pounds all together since starting. -

Im moving to puree. I had some re-fried Beans and taco meat (hubby made) blended it up and melted some cheese....omg SO GOOD!. After so much nausea for the time since surgery it was nice to enjoy something without feeling sick. How are you all doing and what stage re you at? -

Don't get a lap band
Rockin Robin replied to Stupid Me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree 100% it is not what they said it was supposed to be. I got info and when I had it did nothing of what it said. I never got restriction only eat or puke no happy middle so I happily puked 125 pounds off. The band doesnt work for everyone even if they follow rules! This person needed someone to say I understand and the band can suck sometimes not judgement. -
Don't get a lap band
Rockin Robin replied to Stupid Me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the band for 6 years and it gave out on me. I was told by my Dr the Band wasnt meant to have forever. It will eventually have to be replaced or have another surgery. My Dr will not put another band in me because it has caused some damage over the years and I no longer empty my stomach normally. It is called gastroperesis. I am getting sleeve surgery on the 23rd to hopefully fix the damage the band has done. For a while I was a raver about the band and how amazing it was....until it hurt me. I think that is the problem of some people the band has hurt them and they dont like it anymore. Like a break up of sorts. -

can anyone tell me..
Rockin Robin replied to rosebud89's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on ssi also and medicaid covers the surgery. They make you jump through alot of hoops but it is worth it. And when they say you have to have 7 months of nutrition therapy make sure YOU GO! I messed up and ended up having to go 9 months. I wish you well and hope it works! -

quit smoking!
Rockin Robin replied to michael watkins's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to quit smoking too. :thumbdown:I was told it was for healing purposes. The doc said no operation if you dont quit. I am trying reaaaaal hard! I used to smoke 2 packs a day so its tough going down to a few puffs a day if anything. I have been chewing gum like its going out of style. And just got rid of all the cigs. If I dont have any there is no temtation (mostly cause I am too lazy to go to town to get them lol) I wish you luck! You just have to find your own way of doing it. Whatever works for you. -

Hey February 2010 Bandsters!
Rockin Robin replied to Northern Mist's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
#1. Surgery date? February 11, 2010 #2. State you live in? Kentucky #3. Doctor/Surgery Center? Dr. Brian Swain #4. Insurance or self pay? Insurance #5. Age and height? 29 / 5'8.5" #6. Current weight and goal weight? 318 / 170 #7. What was your deciding factor for having this surgery? I have had alot of scares lately all due to my weight. I started taking insulin shots and am on a ton of meds. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired! I am young but my body feels like its in it 80s. I want to be a young woman, get married, and have babies. I want to go to a normal store, ride a roller coaster, and not be deathly scared of a turnstyle! Ok I could go on with this for hours but you get the point. :scared2: #7. Do you have the support of family and friends? I am so blessed. I have the best mother in the whole world. She is taking time off work to be there for surgery and to take care of me after. I also have alot of support from my wonderful friends who will love me fat or not fat. #8. Concerns and questions? Most of all I wonder if this will work. I am so willing to work hard. I am scared to death of surgery because this will be my first. I am the biggest pain wimp ever! A simple little headache can take me down. I am also hoping I am strong enough to get through the LSD. The reason I am doing this is because I cant control this monster so what if it takes over. I am scared about the changes that will happen when I start losing weight. I have always been fat and I dont know anything else. Will I start feeling vulnerable because I am getting smaller and dont protect myself as well as my fat shell did? Wow I have a ton of things on my mind and a million questions lol :cursing: -
