Melissa - Happy Birthday. Phyl - have fun with Jodi, Karen and Eva. I'm so excited - a week from today will be out of this weather. Linda - 39 degrees here with rain that is melting the snow - soon will be ice - here in KC too.
-
Lori - I definitely have seasonal affective disorder. Always try to move to sunshine (visit) during the winter to break the mood. Lamps are sold that will stimulate the body that is deprived of sun. Sometimes a tanning bed will work for me, altho I don't like the possible damage from them.
-
Lori - I agree Kings Speech was an excellent movie. So inspiring. Sandy - so glad you will have a break with friend in Cancun. I've been there many times - actually stayed on Isla Mujeres twice and then a couple times near Playa del Carmen. The sunshine and relaxation will be great for you. Also will help to have sister experience the difficulties your father is having. The WL support group I attended yesterday included an hour with the doctor who was discussing the "sleeve" with 3 patients who have been forced to have the band removed due to problems. I would NOT consider it, but found it very interesting and appreciated his professionalism and knowledge. Karen - sorry about the PB. It has happened to me sooooooo many times. Even when I take small bites and chew, chew, chew......I've learned (for me) that it is that "one last bite". So excited to hear you are wearing sandals and 72 degree weather there. I'll be there in 8 days - yippee. It's 26 degrees here this morning.

Lori - I can't believe the "nerve" of DD's MIL to ask to include more of her friends. Yikes - what bad manners. I LOVED Karen's way of handling it - here are the invitations, please send them out to your friends. Very empowering. Your friend (the hostess) is a true friend, to be so very gracious. She obviously cares for you and your DD. Cheri - you are so strong. Love to hear the way you manage your food. Linda - your granddaughter is so very lucky to have you. And she is gorgeous - saw pix on FB. I'm experiencing horrible acid reflux today. Went to a friend's WL support group meeting today. She has invited me for the past three months and I'm so happy I finally went. I'm going to change doctors. $400 to transfer my file and set me up as a new patient. Their fills/unfills are more expensive - but, I don't care anymore. There is no support with my current doctor and I like what I hear from the new practice. My husband wants me to have the band removed. I shall reserve an opinion on that until I see what the fluoroscope shows and have expert advise from the physician.

Karen - wonderful to hear how you are enjoying time with Eva and her husband. Would love to see her home. Bet that warm weather also feels wonderful. Sandy - I love Grand Cayman. Have been there many, many times - used to go two or three times a year and spent a month there (rented a house on 7 mile beach). Hurricane Ivan destroyed the island and when it rebuilt, some of the charm was gone forever. I miss the "old" Cayman. Sandy, I also share the experience (and Lori) of being raised by very cold, unemotional, unloving parents. However, since they were NEVER there for me, I don't feel the need to be there financially or in any way, now. We reap what we sow. I sound very mean - and in thinking about it, I spent 30 days in Psychiatric/gereatric unit with my Mom when she was suffering - so I guess I'm not as tuff as I think. My step-father (who was in my life since I was 6) is 87 and needs assistance. I'm NOT there for him. TMI - but it helps to know many of us can be survivors and change the future for our children and show them love. Please take care of yourself. I know there is a solution and your sister and husband - and maybe a social worker at PT - can help find it.

Had a great workout today and a pedicure after. Still 6 inches of snow on the ground here and 9 degrees outside right now. Can't wait for Tucson weather. Also busy planning a trip to Grand Cayman in end of April for my favorite caribbean carnival, Batabano. Parade is marvelous and 7 mile beach is wonderful. Have to get a break from this COLD weather. 68 is looming large for my b'day this year. Feel the urgency to travel before the body completely craps out on me. Excuse the facts - that is what happens to our bodies no matter how hard we try to avoid it. Have been assigned to a new trainer at the gym. A gorgeous, built black man that is an EMT. I'm soooooo old, the club is afraid of liability issues with my training. lololol As a business owner, I understand. Karen - happy you made is safely to Tucson. Enjoy that porch and all the warmth. Eva - what a delightful hostess to prepare so thoughtfully for the arrival.
-
Sandy - we have the problem in reverse - we are supporting a 43 yr. old son. He can manage to come over to have me pay his rent - but doesn't notice there are 6 inches of snow on the driveway. I refuse to ask for help. Also realize that some ppl don't SEE the obvious. My blood pressure stays in line when I allow a service to plow the snow and don't involve the deadbeat son. It's all about keeping me calm and serene.
-
Arlene - so sorry to hear your Mom fell again. A blessing that she was in rehab and help was available. Good luck at bone dr. tomorrow. Eva - thanks for sharing the arrival news for Karen & Keith. We are all happy she arrived safely. Also thanks for geography info. 6 hours is way too far between Palm Desert & Tucson. Will be nice for Lori to enjoy her father and warm climate. Lori - way to go - two workouts in one day. You inspire me. LauraK - I'll join you on the whining for the cold weather. 21 degrees here in K.C. right now. Yuk. Have shoveled snow every two hours today - all day long.
-
Lori - nice job with the recap. Regarding the shower for DD - I firmly agree with Linda's suggestion. Puts the ball back in MIL's court. " We will miss you at the shower and forgive you for not being able to join us. " So happy to hear that DD does NOT need to see the doctor for two weeks.
-
Jodi - I'll be in Tucson - how close is Palm Desert? Have a great visit and enjoy the warm temperature. Maybe we can see each other there. Meredith - Wow - so close to goal. Congrats GF - and way to go on math exam. Another workout today and first with personal trainer. Tracking foods in on-line journal (livestrong.com) and marching toward goal again. Afternoon appt @ the Apple store to increase knowledge of Mac. About 6" of snow in K.C., but have the winter car out and 4 wheel drive. Snow is gorgeous right now. Will turn to slush in a few days.

Watched the KC Chiefs get slaughtered this afternoon. Oh well........ Light snow on the ground and much more coming - 4 to 8 inches overnight. Have consultation with trainer tomorrow to set up my plan. Knee is more comfortable when I do NOTHING. But, I can't let that stand in my way. Surgeon confirmed it is fine to work out. Chris - congrats on NSV. Arlene - I agree with Janet and Lori - one program that works for you. You are so dedicated. Nice to hear your mom realizes that it is time for assisted living Linda - sending hugs. Others have expressed how I feel too. You are a strong lady, and have faced challenges and shown love for Aylah, and will continue throughout her life - for your daughter, as well, but her demons are hers to chase away.
-
Oh Eva, how very frightening and tragic. What is happening to our world?
-
Linda - so sorry about family issues. Sending prayers and hugs. Eva - 3800 Starr Pass is the Marriott were we'll be staying. Hope to see you when we are there. The daughter lives in Marana, where we will stay the 27th and 28th. Karen - sorry about your weather delay. Janet - thanks for the thumbs up. Arlene - hugs to you for your Mom.
-
Lori - I coud not get on this site earlier this eve either. Not just your computer.
-
Karen - sorry about the blizzard and delayed trip to get into the warmth. At least, you are ready to go and can relax. Eva - I'd love to see you in Tucson. We are staying Jan. 24th to 27th @ J.W. Marriott Resort & Spa then spending afternoon of 27th & 28th with my friends daughter & spouse. Leaving on the 29th for K.C. Friend has never been to a spa, so will enjoy showing her the ropes. Would love to meet up with you, Janet, Phyl, Karen and all who are interested and have time. BTW - thanks for the suggestion about selecting size/font & color after writing. Jodi - sorry about the nerd - hope next two are a better match. Janet - after work out, signed up with trainer for two of my three workouts per week. Knew you would be proud of me. Lori - way to go with the sore muscles. Proves how hard you are working. Made a $50 bet with my training buddy - however loses the most by Feb. 28th gets the money. Time for a shower.
-
As I read, I was wondering how you "crossed thru" your post. This new format is very frustrating. It allowed me to select size, but not color - oh well. Like Lori, I've hopped on computer to check posts before heading to the gym. Just wanted to brag - third time this week. Back on track. Wind is whirling outside and 43 degrees. Looking forward to Tucson.
-
Karen - that story from your newspaper about the vibrators is shocking. Thank heavens his GF turned him in. That kind of hate and violence is so shocking. Wishing you and DH safe travels. Good time to leave with zero temps at home and sunshine in Arizona. I enjoy several breaks from the cold weather during winter in K.C. Janet - sending prayers for Karla, your Lucky 7 friend. LauraK - love the Mr. Filet Mignon title for new BF. Arlene - I'll be at the gym in the morning while you are walking. Wonderful that you are such a loving daughter to spend afternoon in hospital with your Mom. Time for bed. Excuse font size - I increased it, but it would not work.
-
Cheri - loved hearing how you handled your ex in the driveway. My very carefully thought out approach (for 38 years) the few times I encounter my ex -- treat him like a fresh, steaming pile of cow manure. Don't look at it, don't stand near it, and DEFINITELY don't talk to it. There are very valid reasons for this very harsh decision - I am empowered and always prepared for an unexpected meeting.
-
I hate the taste of canned products and buy it in large plastic bottle. Good vegetable source for banders.
-
Lori - way to go on pantry cleaning and the exercise you are doing. Sore muscles for me too. Arlene - so sorry about scare with your Mom. I'm very proud of you for controling eating in the face of this stress. Good luck with the finger problem. Busy day for me in KC. The new printer is going to need to be replaced. The blue ink doesn't work correctly. grrrrr.......
-
Apples - Let me know if you want to stop in Overland Park, KS to coffee, lunch, dinner, potty break - I can meet you. Safe trip. Jessica - congrats on BCBS $$$$ - you are so near your graduation. You inspire me. Janet & Eva - have I mentioned that I'll be in Tucson??? Will leave KC on the 24th (January) & be there thru the 29th. Linda - I agree, you look great. Let us know what the PS recommends for you. Went to gym again yesterday and will be there again tomorrow. Knee is a bit sore, but I'm taking it easy and building up to stronger workouts. Trying to "ease" into fitness again and avoid injury, like I sustained in water aerobics. Knee is still bruised from cortisone injection. Met yesterday with gal who has lost 110 lbs with the lap band. 37 years old and had port flipped, 2 revisions and finally had to have it removed. She is debating about the sleeve as an option now. Carpet cleaners just left and IT is coming to repair new printer with a few issues. Have been busy and spending less time on the computer - sorry have not read all the posts. Hugs to all. Joyce

What would have made your journey a little easier?
ladykcusa replied to LaurenKauf's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
How I would love a small, local support group that met weekly to inspire, share and support. Feel so lonely in this journey. -
Just got home from the gym - 45 minutes on treadmill and then some floor exercise. Feels great. Just wanted to be able to report that I'm going. No knee pain. Have not read the posts. Busy day ahead. Happy New Year to all my friends here at LBT. May it be a year of health and reaching our goals.

Cheri - Happy birthday. Hope it is a great day for you.
