Today was a very bad day, but now I have a plan!
ladykcusa commented on LoseIt!'s blog entry in LoseIt!'s Blog
Your solutions sound very efficient and smart. I feel logging all food will help me & my doctor to determine amount of fluid for fill. Comparing my weight loss with the diary should give him what he needs to make the decision. We can do this and be successful. Joyce -
I asked my doctor to point out location of port on first post-op visit. Since each doctor places it differently, check with yours. Welcome to the journey to a better, healthier life. Joyce in KC

Apples - I admire you for staying busy and looking for the positives in your life. A wonderful tool. Jewell - way to go with the 5K - can't beleive it was over before you knew it. What a wonderful way to relax your mind and focus. You have faced so much in the past few years, I would also like to give you a gold star. Such wonderful ladies here. I enjoyed my first meal in a restaurant at lunch today with DD and granddaughter. Feb. 8th I began the pre-op program, so it has been a long time coming. Rain expected here all week, so I made it a point to enjoy outside today. Joyce

Laura K - Congratulations - you are doing beautifully - size 10 wow And sending positive thoughts with smoking cessation too. You will be a brand new, healthy lady. Joyce in KC

Karen - sending hugs to express how much I care about your loss. Charlene - wonderful that your DD & girls will remain in their home. Best wishes are sent that the budget will make it all work. Phyl - way to go - walking in fund raiser. You rock, girl friend. Gorgeous weather here today. So ready for spring. Joyce in KC

Miss See_Ann - I just started mushies. Mashed potatoes are great and go down very easily. Believe they call them sliders. KFC has them, so does the grocery store - premade. Many have said, few problems until the fills begin. Good luck to you. Joyce in KC

Eva - thanks for sharing your webinar - wish our doctor offered something similar, but your overview is just as good. I had my first post-op appt today. Doctor says I'm doing fine. Good to hear. First fill is scheduled, but I can't remember when it is. He moved me to mushie stage which will be nice. Sunny & nice in KC. Sending hugs to all. Joyce

Welcome, Jeri. Lots of information and support here. Jump right in. Joyce in KC

Morning ladies, Time for me to learn the abbreviations better. It is my son-in-law who will cook my first egg - not sister in law. lolol He is 45 and had gastric bypass last June and has lost over 70 lbs. He is a darling and a great husband to my daughter. He spoke at a support group last night for WLS patients. I love "Modern Family" - does anyone else watch it. Also Two and a Half Men. Have lost 15 lbs. since first weight in a doctors office and am amazed eating this little that weight doesn't continue to drop off. But I am patient and realize that I'm eating too few calories right now (& not exercising yet) Also, I have being a landlord in common with some of you ladies. Ours is commercial - not sure what type you both have. We have about 100 tenants. With the economy in it's current condition, our tenants are also having difficulties. I'm semi-retired and only work about 5 hours a MONTH. But, I'm older than most of you lolol. Feeling so good and the sun is out in Kansas City today, can spring be far behind?? Hugs to all. Joyce

Indio - How do you remember all of us??? And put up with the stress at work? You are amazing. I move from full liquids to mushie on Sunday. My SIL who had gastric bypass last June (has lost over 70 lbs.) is coming over to prepare my first egg. What a sweetie. Sleep well ladies. Joyce in KC

80 grams of protein!!
ladykcusa replied to Ashley0814's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ashley - Visit a health food store and ask for help with protein sources. Isopure is a protein water containing 40 grams of protein. If you are able to find an informed clerk, you will receive lots of suggestions. Joyce in KC -
Nikki - I'm Day 8 past surgery and have been sleeping on my stomach the past 2 nights. No problem. Sleep well tonight.

This is the best thread I have read so far. Worth hours of therapy. A 66 year life-long battle with food. Darn right I'll take help/ the lap band tool. So much personal effort goes into the use of the tool. Thanks for everyone's input here. I'll use all the experience from friends here. JC in KC

I think I might have some restriction...
ladykcusa replied to juliansmom2003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm still post-op full liquids and have worried about this "up-coming" challenge. WHEN AM I FULL?? It will be a part of the process to learn what "full" feels like. Not knowing, or ignoring it, was what brought me to the band. Joyce in KC -
Goal is to reach 75 g. of Protein daily. So I'm still using Protein powder mixed with skim milk 3 x day. Adding in very thin tomato Soup, yogurt, applesauce, babyfood (2 oz) at a time, popsicles and today cream of wheat. The amounts are always less than 2 oz. Atleast I'm getting some different flavors. Good luck, Jewell. Joyce

btrieger - we have met in other forums. I'll be pulling for you tomorrow. Last Monday was my band day - so I'm 7 days out and feel great. Very little pain - back to my normal activity. Only took Loritab before leaving surgicenter. Never used any other meds except tylenol otc. Glad your day has finally arrived. Joyce in Kansas City

Laura, Loved the pix of your parents - and WOW, what a cake for Nelson. Please tell me you didn't make it. lolol Crzytchr - I'll pray for you and the new student. There is a limit to how much you can handle and you are already helping so many students. Don't feel that you have to save them ALL. You have my admiration and respect. BTW - I did NOT eat popcorn. Just knew it would be difficult for me to enjoy the movie and learn that I don't need it. What a great group of ladies here. Let's all make it a great week. Joyce in KC

Full liquids are allowed - thinned down pudding, thinned down Soup, thinned down mashed potatoes. Even tho I'd like to try them, I'm chosing yogurt, applesauce and thin tomatoe soup. Afraid to try to open up the throat and swallow. Anyone else feeling this fear? Any suggestions from old-timers? Fear of getting stuck and/or vomiting. Joyce in KC

Afraid to eat - Day 7 post-op
ladykcusa replied to ladykcusa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Betsy, Thank you for describing "the worse" which wasn't that bad. Yes, I could handle that and I must take my meds. And you observation (legitimate) that I'm NOT relaxing. I'm obsessing and worrying about something that has NOT happened. Relax, breathe, slow down...... Great advice and direction. Thank you so much. Joyce in KC -

When in doubt there are signs to let you know
ladykcusa replied to loserbob's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
btrieger - good luck this week as you join the banders. My surgery was very smooth sailing. DH had hired 24 hr nursing for first 2 days. NOT NEEDED at all. I was very lucky and hope you will be too. You have age on your side. Bob - we are all here to support you and lots of information here. We seek a healthier, happier life and WE ALL deserve it. Joyce in KC
