Saturday and warming up here. The ice is almost gone from parking lots. Yippee. We need to do a little shopping for some storage/organization totes. I am in the mood to pare down! Today I will get my Vitamins and minerals in. Water in and green tea! Hot choc. with Peanut Butter for Breakfast. Lentil Soup for lunch and dinner may be OUT so life is moving forward. I have a cooking addiction. LOL I did bake banana cupcakes for church hospitality room tomorrow. Not anything I can eat. Gluten free here so it is good!

3 months out from IBand surgery how much weight should I loose?
punkinvine replied to mommy3gymsoft's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am tickled for you to have lost that much and it looks like something positive is happening for YOU! Keep up the good work. I lost at that rate at first then slowed down. I go to a support group monthly and some people really vary in this. It seems the bypass type surgery might be a bit faster for some. YOU can do it! Happy you are in the club! -
Drinking green tea, wait 20 min, lettuce cheese wrap for Breakfast. Wishing for a garden tomato. Drooling over the garden catalog. Over haul of Hubby's office begins today. Phone call.... Going to have a grandson today. That is good for the exercise! My stomach has healed some and I am hungry. Taking the food plan to the mushy menu. In retrospect I think I had coconut in a dish and had not thought of how stringy it is. That might be my issue. Live and learn. Planning to do the elliptical this afternoon... This is the day the LORD hath made rejoice and be glad in it!

Up and on my game today. Had grits with cheese , 3/4 C. Gummy Calcium. Laundry ready to fold. Grandson , age 2 on his way here for a couple of hours. Then off to the gym. Egg drop soup for lunch is my plan. I need to defrost a chicken.... dinner? Quinoa... I used Trader Joe's Organic White Quinoa. I use it just like I would Pasta. I did a lb. ground round, large can of tomatoes , 1 diced onion and 1 can of red Beans. I added 1 bean can of Water after the ground round was drained and onion tender. Then added tomatoes and 1/3 C quinoa. I put the Iron skillet in the oven covered for about 40 min. at 300 F. I topped with some muenster cheese slices when I took it out of the oven. Quinoa is a complete Protein unlike any other grain so I am using it more. Use chili powder and salt if desired.

SLKesler, You have my prayers. I am at 5+years from lap band. I too am retired. Well with a 90 year old mom and 3 about to be 4 grandkids 3 years old and under it is still pretty busy. I am currently at my goal wt but struggle with some stomach issues from time to time. I am currently eating a bland mushy to liquid diet for another day or so. Hopefully I will maintain a calm stomach during this food plan. I had my knees replaced in 05 and do very well with them. You have thyroid issues and vit. B and D . I have thyroid issues and ferritin level is low. I can say I am making progress and my blood work is better. You will get there it just takes time and trying different things to get your body to respond. Keep on the journey. YOU can do it!

Today is a new day. I had acid reflux during the night but did manage to take and antacid tab and some juice. I resolved by sitting up an hour or so. Today is a gentle food plan day. I am doing a smoothy for breakfast and lunch and see how I react. Hoping to be on track for a brothy Soup at dinner if I am doing better. The question "Do I have something stuck" is in the back of my mind. " I need to be cautious with getting an unfill and then wanting it back right away. So far it is an uneventful day and I think this plan will help. Getting to the gym today is on my list! Hoping for all of you to make goals for today and keep up the good work! Glad you are here to share and strengthen each other!

I find my nausea issue is back even though I can't imagine how I would have something stuck??? I am drinking only and will hopefully be better in the am. I will try the suggested Protein in the above post. Syntrax Matrix. I really cannot stand them if they have a gritty texture. WE got a call to come tour the hospital where our new grandchild will be born. So no gym today but I did walk tons from the car all through the hospital with a 2 year old in tow. Hospital seemed extra friendly and happy to have grandparents involved. Also went to the OB appointment with daughter in law. Baby is in position and about 5 weeks to go. I did get my Iron in via gummy mineral/vitamin. Got my fluids in too. Hoping my stomach will be calm by morning!

I am curious what protein shake you like? I have not had one in 4 years and was at a point I could hardly get one down. Many powders were gritty and that just was gaggy for me on its own. I should keep something on hand to go to if I get these issues but need to go shopping. Thanks for sharing if you have suggestions of good protein powder or shakes.

Falling back into old habits...support needed
punkinvine replied to healthydnp's topic in The Gals' Room
Oh you said it well! Back in the saddle again. Using skim milk, frozen peach pieces , a splash of vanilla and a T of sugar in a smoothy makes my heart sing! Magic Bullet take me away! I have never felt bad when I leave the gym.... just know that when you are putting off going! Make that smoothy when you get home and enjoy it! The new healthy you is wonderful! Keep going! -
Do You Ever Feel Judged Because You Are On The "smaller" Side?
punkinvine replied to jessicakesbanded's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Happy for you to make your own decision. I am in the same range as you and only 5 feet tall or a smidge over. My knees were replace in 05 because I had worn them out. I only wish I could have been at a desirable weight earlier and kinder to my knees. The day of my surgery a nurse came into my room and informed me "you are not big enough" for this kind of surgery. That was her opinion... and she was rounder than me. So she may be ok with her . I was struggling to do the kind of activities I wanted to do. I have been blessed to get my BMI under control. I have learned to listen to God and those who really love me. The others have been set on the back burner to talk to themselves! -
Sorry you have this issue and I don't know what is going on. Keep us posted as to what is causing the problem. Praying for you Beenpatch!

Just Breath..... hope it went well. Please post and tell me how it went. I was a tad apprehensive and it's natural to feel that a little when we are about to embark on a change! Now that you have the tool it will take a little time to get all it's function in the working mode. Praying for you to have a smooth journey. Just ask if there is anything you could use an ear about! Support makes all the difference! Go girl!

Privacy: How easy or difficult was it for you?
punkinvine replied to SkinnyLaRodgers15's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Privacy... I never did tell anyone and still do not unless they can benefit by my story to make a positive move in theirs. It to me was sort of like getting augmentation only on a slow scale. No one really cares until you look differently! At that point I was able to say it's all about portion control and exercise. And it still is. Sorry since you are on light duty it may bring about questions. Best wishes on your journey! -
This is just the post I needed to read! God puts us in a place on a certain day to hear what he wants us to hear. I have been at the successful place for about 4 1/2 years but the last few weeks I have had some lack of control. Almost like I have been doing this so long I can just not pay close attention to the manual. Well your struggle has put my focus back on track. Thanks for coming in and being honest about how things are changing for you. There is no real reason for my lack of focus unlike you.... sounds like your life had many lemons all of a sudden. So happy you have decided to give the band a new vigorous try. I have joined an accountability group here and I think just reporting my day is going to help. It is a Veteran group so hop in if you feel it would be helpful. Happy you are back on track. Ten pounds in 2 weeks ... doing the happy dance for you!

Just know that this is a process of which you have to gradually get the correct fill. I didn't notice much on the first fill however the second fill was great and lasted me over a year. I am at 5+ years now and have had a few more fills. Slow and steady is a good thing even though at first you may struggle. Continue your protein plan and exercise. This tool will fit you well but may take a little time. Best wishes in this new year and new journey!

Tonya sorry you are having a bad band week. I too have had spells of foamy/slimy issues. I needed a band adjustment even though I had been ok at that level for about 2 years. So the explanation from the Dr. and RD. was that maybe my internal shape had changed as I lost wt. and fat mass. The fill was reduced a little and doing better now. Occasionally I do have a little trouble but as you said it can be explained. Nuts and capsules don't agree with me. That causes me to have the foamy/slimy problem. Hope you can find a Dr. soon to get this resolved. I am at 5+ years. Have a good week!

Today was not what we had planned due to ice and snow. I exercised by shoveling 45 min. The ice was over 1/2 inch thick under the snow so I had to whack it with the shovel and break into chunks like peanut brittle. Good fresh air and work out. Grandson age 2 was here a couple of hours and we built train tracks and ran trains. Quinoa, 1/2 C for Breakfast with black coffee. Green tea mid morning. lunch about 2 oz steak and refried Beans with salsa. Ice Water afternoon. dinner... cheesy potato Soup 3/4 C and 2 baby cooked carrots. Thinking about a cup of hot tea again and maybe an apple slice or 2. We have the walks and driveway in good shape so tomorrow should be gym day! I miss it! I had a phone call from DR. office in regard to blood work. Stored Iron level still a bit low. I am going to bump up the red meat as instructed and gummy minerals. Any other suggestions?

I like a Jello fluff made with a box of sugar free jello, 1 Cup cottage cheese, a carton of cool whip folded in when it is cool. Since I am at goal I do add a can of mandarin oranges to orange jello or pineapple in lime jello. Using the fruit in its own juice of course. Simple and Quick.

Well, not really sure how to feel about this
punkinvine replied to Band Aid mom's topic in Rants & Raves
Hang in there. The Band is a tool for you and me to get where we need to be. My hubby was always very supportive and could drop wt. by just getting busy on the farm during planing and harvest season. Not me though. I needed the band to get me going and it has. Your pre trial of the diet is admirable. Go Girl! YOU will succeed with this tool. I did not until I had the band and 5 years later I am healthier and more fit than I had even imagined! Compare yourself to the old you and no one else! Watch your BMI and blood pressure. It is just about YOU being strong and content! Blessings on your journey! PS: I can tell you I started out at size 22 tight and wear size 8 loose now. I did 5 min. on the elliptical at my first post lap band gym visit. Now I do 30 min/ 2 miles 3 days a week. YOU can do this! Just use your tool! -
OK... accountability! Just in from church and lunch out. Ate approx. 2 oz chicken small T. salad and 2 T mashed potatoes. 1/4 corn muffin no butter. Very content fullness. 1 1/2 hours later a Cup of green tea which was suggested by my wt. loss class last Mon. night. It is supposed to rev up our metabolism. It tastes great on a cold day so I am willing to do this daily. Nutritionist said with or without caffeine makes no difference. Trying some new exercise and foods were also suggestions from my Mon. night class. I did cook quinoa in my goulash last evening and it gets two thumbs up. It is a complete Protein and other grains are not. Changing things up in 2015 to keep me on track is my goal! God is good! Punkinvine

Today is a good day to get on track. I struggled the last 4 days with some upchucking issues. Last evening I was surprised to see a piece of pecan and a capsule come up. This is the 3rd time I have had something stuck and glad it is done! OK now that is over and I am good to do my routine. I am 5 + years out and at 140 lb. My BMI was 40 in the beginning and now things are great in that respect. I can do 2 miles 3 times a week on the elliptical and that keeps my heart healthy. I seem to have lost my control on foods that don't work well. That is past... enough said. Today I had 1/2 C rice Krispies and milk for Breakfast. Gummy Vitamin and Minerals. Green tea (decaf). lunch of Broccoli cheese Soup about 3/4 C and a tablespoon of pumpkin ice cream shared with little grandson. Now checking recipes for rutabaga?? A new food for me so I can increase my vegi's. I must keep my head in the game and chew chew chew! Feeling great today and enjoying watching the birds on this cold blustery day.

'Twas the Night Before Surgery.....
punkinvine commented on chasingadream's blog entry in chasingadream's Blog
Wishing you great success. I am 4+ Years out and just bought a size 2 pair of jeans. No longer do I take a bite past full. The lapband is the tool I needed. Apparently this is my first full button and it works. Blessings on your surgery and Keep the Faith! God is good all the Time! Keep us posted on your success. It will happen in its own time... not exactly like anyone else. But it will be GOOD! -
I am still looking at the waistband of these new jeans... size 2. Am I hallucinating? Wake me up someone! I went back and bought a second pair... size 2. Can they both be miss marked? I am at 132 lb today.
