1 yr post op and occasionally get night coughs
punkinvine replied to MrsPJ's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Eating that close to bedtime would be an issue for me. I can have 1/2 C of sherbet or something smooth like that if I am really hungry. I had an episode of reflux and my band was a bit tight. The interesting thing was... I had had that amount of fill for over 6 months and it seemed fine. Out of the blue I started with reflux. Perhaps things shifted as my body fat reduced and muscle mass changed my shape? No one really figured it out but it has been 6 months since my issue and life is good and no real reflux as long as I don't eat late at night the coarse foods. Be aware aspiration is not a good thing. Hope your Dr, can get you through this. Do report your issue to the Dr. Blessings! -
Bacon... ya know we have lots of support here. YOU gotta get on this and come around the back stretch to get the prize! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Checkered flags are so pretty when they wave at you on the finish line! GOAL made! HUSTLE on............

We did have a celebration lunch with sweet Grand daughter on her way home from 12 days at the hospital . She is beautiful but a bit wobbly. God is healing her. Mowing and gardening. Loving the sunny dry day. Windy but ok in my jacket. We just spied a red bellied woodpecker nesting in a mature oak behind the house. This bird is huge! Many gold finches, downy wood peckers, robbins, purple finch, wrens and blue jays about the feeders. HIS eye is on the sparrow. I know he watches YOU! Live longer, and eat smartly!!

Today just has to be the worst best... OH how this sounds like a continuing saga. Tomorrow will be a new day. Our 3 year old grand daughter had a tumor on her pituitary removed today in a 5 hour surgery. I am afraid I do not know what I ate... just a blurr. I know I had taco salad and gave 3/4 to my son. It was gluten free so best hospital choice I saw. I had sierra mist and no idea if it was even sugar free. It was just a day to pray and get on with the matters at hand. Tonight I had some roast chicken and nothing else. I played on the swing with grandson and just breathed fresh air. Grand daughter is doing ok and she can speak, see , hear and complain about being thirsty. All four extremities move... Blessed day. Having shingles pain tonight in my left side and drinking wine to try to relieve it. ON a cheery note... the daffodils are beautiful in our yard! Jesus Lives!

All is going well so far today LOL! Mom was to take an extra pill this am. Hubby went to see her last evening with the instruction sheet for a procedure today. Well he somehow forgot he had any instructions. So this am I said did you lay out her extra pill. He says "what extra pill". OK.. so I got her on the phone and had her look at her bottles and find the extra pill. She thought I said it started with a "P" and I was spelling it with a "T" so of course she couldn't find it. Good thing I called her as she forgot she was not supposed to eat first. I cannot be around her till tomorrow as I am considered non contageous then. All is well and Hubby is driving her to the hospital. b rice krispies with almond milk l ham and bean soup d chicken and broccoli s... strawberry smoothy and pain drugs New baby weighs 11 lb 11 0z at 5 weeks. I think he will be a big guy! Hope he is lean! May God bless each of you today and nothing get stuck! Jog a few for me... I should get to do something pretty soon! Miss it!

Cup of milk for Breakfast Soup... ham and bean for lunch dinner roast chicken and carrots. snack.... cashews. Dessert.. pain pills! Praying for healing for the step son in the accident! Ouch! Whew... too much Easter. I am on the sunshine and outdoor path. The junk food is going to the kids mission. Thanks Bacon , for the video and I did truly grasp it! Thankful for Everlasting life! Love one another. Hoping the accountability can be the courage for each of us to go on with our wellness journey! We have an interesting seminar tomorrow night at my WLSupport group. Our fun day today involved visiting an assisted living facility. It was very nice and clean. I feel like Dorothy of Oz... There's no place like home.. no place like home. So off to acquire a little more help for her. My 24/7 for 3 months needs to be cut back. Tomorrow I will interview a few people. About the metabolism slowing down. I did have to change my exercise routine and add extra Water a few times to jump start my body. The summer time adds lots of physical labor and fresh air so my issue has been a couple of winters not keeping my goal on the mark. I also have thyroid meds and when my level is too low I have issues. Hope that helps tobeabutterfly.

Good Morning friends... whew. I read your news Shannon and so sorry. We do have the roller coaster of life and promise of better things in Heaven! Love the menu shares. It is helping me get mine stirred up and the ideas of healthy foods tweaked again. Have been in a rut. Large pot of vegi Soup on the stove this am. I did a side pan with cabbage and lentils to add to only half so there is variety with only one cooking time. I had a wonderful evening with some girlfriends from HS last evening as we went to a dinner theater performance of "The Buddy Holly Story." Exercise with dance is so fast and awesome! Some old time rock and roll! This does give the roller coaster a sweet turn! Today working on medical issues for my Mom... prescriptions, appointments scheduled, and researching what could be possibilities of help at home or assisted living possibilities. God has a plan! B- lettuce cheese wrap L- vegi soup D-chicken/broccoli S- cheese

Lynn you are a place I too have been on occasion. My choices to go back to old carb load eating are not healthy. They are addictive. They do not fuel my good cells but make me want to slow down! That being said... Change it up. Clear out the chocolate that is bugging you. I have the great skim milk hot chocolate that gives me a good healthy kind of chocolate. Great swap for me. I have to remind myself to eat the Protein first! When I do this other things are not tempting. Hope this helps you a little. Takes on to know one! Drink tons of Water in my Child of God thermal bottle. It reminds me each sip who is important and who loves me! Made chili today and that is always a good food and fast! Dinner with the kids tonight... chicken wings for me . Pizza for them. Off to vacuum , vacuum, vacuum.............. It is low class zumba but I will make it count!

Just a normal day.... LOL. Mom to MRI this am ... she did well. Had fallen during the night and lifeline alert button pushed. Hubby and I got her up and back to bed. She has been a trooper . OK... learning to roll with it even though nothing in your daily planner happened! This too is part of life. Now I admit to eating at IHOP.... mom's choice and not mine. Especially gluten free. God is good because pancakes, waffles, toast, biscuits are out for me! I had... drum roll please! CHEESY TOMATO SOUP! Exercise today... 3 miles or ??? Furniture shopping for lift chairs etc to make home a safer haven. It's ok! Tomorrow is another day..... Blessings and proud of you who did the 3 miles. And for those who made wise food choices. We are better than before!

Good Morning... had half bagal (gluten free ) with p-nut butter and grape jam. lunch of tomato Soup and muenster cheese Dinner I am going for steak stir fry if all goes well. Exercise... shoveling snow again. Could be last one of the season. Rather walk in the sunshine! Not sure how to calculate this as a 3 miler but it will take me an hour in 2 hitches so Adaptive exercise is a plan! And shoveling backwards... well maybe I can do Aunt Liz's first instead of last.

Shannon, Amish chicken casserole? Sounds great... recipe please?

I had a few times of that over the last years. Bending over in the garden seemed to put pressure where it needed to be and the feeling clears. It is not pleasant and I find there are just a few items that are not on my list to eat. One is almonds. They sort of remain in particles when chewed unlike cashews or peanuts that turn into butter apparently. Keep your menu where the dr. has it and when you are allowed to add more texture chew well and try one new item at a time. You can do this! Success is around the corner and it comes in small packages! God is Good!

Worried it wont work
punkinvine replied to staceymeaux's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It was so with me... there was a little doubting demon that sat beside my left ear now and then. It said "YOU have enlisted in yet another failure or temporary fix. DUH" Well let me say I pray more and eat less and the DEMON is gone. PTL I can be so content with just a 1/2 cup or 3/4 cup serving of marvelous Protein food and only a slight bite of carb or vegi food. YOU can do it... ! The jeans you wear will be a testimony! -
Good Morning.... Monday! Love to start this new week. Having lots to be thankful for makes a big difference in my attitude. Thankful for my LBand! I think I would have been on a slippery slope without it! I feel like all my appendages are attached this am. LOL... the last few weeks well they are gone. Today I am having a canadian bacon lettuce wrap. lunch gluten free spaghetti (1/3 C brown rice pasta), made with ground round peppers and onion. dinner... shopping for some new recliners so out it is. I think stuffed pepper Soup is on the menu there. Oh being in control of a whole day feels so good! Attacking a big row of asparagus and sedum along the garden will start up my exercise. I may pick up the 2 year old in the stroller and walk the 3 mile stretch if it is not too windy. My Mom will need 3 visits from me today but they will be only an hour or so each. She has such a sweet spirit . Feeling blessed! Challenge.... uhh ok. Do a 3 miler everyday! YOU choose your own exercise and just for a little style... do part of it backward ( or differently than your norm). Example... I will walk the bridge backward and that does some great strengthening on the low back and fanny! Love the elliptical backwards too... Or go to your workout and reverse it. Let us know how it goes!

Dallas - seeking band buddies and support
punkinvine replied to Leoakie86's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I do not tell people about my band because it to me is like getting a new undergarment. If I look different eventually they may comment. If they do not notice that is okay too. My prayers were to be healthy and this was the path I was lead to. Thankful I am in my size 6 jeans after that many years this April. Success comes in different ways to different people. Just go for your goal! This little Grandma is able to hide behind the door, under the bed and between the couch and chair during "hide and seek" with the grand kids. To me... a huge accomplishment! My joy comes from the Lord and his grace! -
Got told by a coworker today that I'm taking the "easy way"
punkinvine replied to Jerr_Bear's topic in Rants & Raves
You know the next time you see a person with a flat tire and you stop to see if they need help. Just think what they would say if you said... "If you use a compressor to fill that tire up you are doing it the easy way. YOU should just put your mouth on the valve stem and blow!" There are many ways to add or remove things and you have made an educated personalized plan for success. Let them blow their tire up anyway they want. Friend the proof is in the pudding. Be healthy and fit! -
All family is on the well list at this moment! Mom is home and yesterday she needed all meds and ADLs monitored. Went well and she even felt good enough to go along for a ride to the pharmacy last evening at 8pm. Miracles are so wonderful! My breakfast.... canadian bacon , cheese, lettuce wrap. lunch ground round homemade spag. sauce and quinoa Pasta, tiny salad. dinner grilled pork and squash. Water in my measured containers. NOW back to my vitamin/min. Have been lacking this consistently. Today will be better. Raking and cleaning flower beds x 4. Walk with little grandkids in wagon over the country road up hill and down. Wishing each of you a pair of jeans that look amazing... found me some with little rhinestones on the pockets. BLING while I still can! LOL . God brought me to it and he will get me through it!
