Hello everyone, Massachusetts here....I just wanted to post my feelings, this site does help me get through the days waiting...You are all great and very helpful and inspiring...I have started the process not so long ago...I am self pay and wouldn't even think twice about not paying for it....To be thinner and healthier and enjoy my life is priceless no matter how much I have to work to pay for it...I have gotten my letter from my PCP and attended my first info session...My consultation is next Tuesday (10/24),wish me luck, then on Wednesday (10/25) is my mental health evaluation, then the following week is my nutritional evaluation, so I definately got the ball rolling but waiting is awful but I come on this site everyday and find at least one inspiring story, picture, nsv, or something that helps me to see that that will be me soon enough....I do once and awhile think what if something happens that I get denied...That is just the worry wart that I am...But in the end I jst cannot wait to be 100 pounds thinner someday and finally get to enjoy my life to the fullest.....

Hello, I just need some advice...I am going for my mental health evaluation and nutritional evaluation next week and I have no clue what to expect...What they ask, what they are looking for, what not to say that could effect me having the surgery, etc....Any help would be appreciated....

Okay, so I was so confident about going for my consultation next month and getting everything going so I can eventually have this surgery but except for one thing. I do not have anymore vacation time left at work due to a week I have to take in June for a friend's wedding out of state...Anyways I am a nanny and I work for a family so it's a very personal job and I know I wouldnt be able to get the time off if I told her I was having weight loss surgery, I could see the negative opinions flying now and I dont want to tell her or anyone for that matter. BUT, that means I have to lie about it....I need to take the time off for something and I was going to use a cover surgery story but my dad just made me feel like total shit telling me not to lie to be truthful but I dont want to lose my job. So, do I ignore my dad and just cover it up and lie, which I dont ever lie but I feel that I have too. Please give me your advice good or bad.....Thanks

I havent gone for my consultation yet it is 10/24 but I am hoping, fingers crossed all goes well and i soon after get a date.... Well, I am of course looking forward to looking good in clothes, bathing suits, bras and panties, and most of all naked, hahah. but I am most looking forward to everyone getting to see the real me.....The fun-loving, crazy, outgoing, happy, loveable me that has been hidden for a long time.....I know this is going to change my life and I cannot wait....I will be able to do anything...I will feel free......I can try new things without feeling embarrased, I wont have to hide when I eat, I wont have to go through the drive through of dunkin donuts just cause people might stare at me, I can finish nursing school cause I will have the motivation and the energy......I WILL BE FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am just starting the process for the lapband procedure....I already know I will be self pay for sure and I was wondering if anyone could offer advice as to how they financed itl....and, home equity or 401k is not an option....I need a good financing company that gives good rates, any advice?

I am new to this site and gathering as much info as possible....Could someone please tell me what an erosion is and what causes it...Thanks

Hello everyone, first please let me just say you all are great and I congratulate all of you on your weight loss or taking the steps to enter your new journey in life...I myself am just getting the ball rolling...After waiting two years to make a consulation appointment I finally did but before that appointment happens on 10/24 I am trying to understand this surgery and lifestyle change as best as I can....There is one thing i do not understand and it is the fills....What are they? Why do we need them? What do they do for us? How often do you get them? Is is a quick process when you get them etc? Any advice or help on this or any part of the surgery and what to expect would be unbelievably helpful....You guys are great, thanks!!!

I myself, have justed started and patiently awaiting my consultation date which is 10/24...I do not have to wait for my insurance approval because they exclude any wls at all so I am self pay....But, to shed some positive light your way this website, for me, has been amazing...Everyone is so helpful and caring, its amazing...It has actually make me look at people in a different way, PEOPLE DO CARE.....After everyone in my life is soooo negative about my weight and even about me trying to have the surgery to help I find the advice, support, and friends that I need here...No matter what stage of the game we are all in, WE ARE ALL IN IT TOGETHER!!!!! We are all here for you...

Other than the woman who told me to "put my big girl panties on"...I appreciated everyones advice....I think what I am going to do is try and do it over a weekend and not say anything at all...I am an adult and want to keep this private, I have already gotten very very negative opinions from friends and family members I have told and I dont need it in the workplace too....I struggle every single day of my life with my weight and I want it to end and that is why I am here. I just am going to keep in mind what is important to me and not let anything stand in the way....BUT I WILL NOT LIE, THANKS....

Does anyone know how they find out if you have a hiatal hernia through blood test, xrays etc..... Also how do they fix or remove it? Thanks

Hello just wanted to throw my two cents in since I know exactly where you are coming from. I have terrible insurance to which it completely excludes any type of weight loss surgery. I have taken two years to think about it although I wish I made my decision sooner. I have chosen to do it and self pay. I will have to finance it which is fine but It's a total investment iin my life, health, and future. If you think about the money you have spent either eating out crappy foods, spending countless amounts of money on diet plans and personal trainers as I have. I couldve paid for this surgery 10 times over again. Yes, it is expensive but what is important to you, if you ever need advice just private message me...I know what you are going through....And I have plenty of student loans too but if you work hard enough anything you want in life is possible or else we all wouldnt be here would we??? This surgery is worth every penny to me and I dont mind self paying I just have to make my financial decision wisely and I am in Boston, mass where every hospital and doctor is super expensive...

Hello everyone......I am new just posting today!!! I think this website is great....I have been researching lapband for awhile and there is so much information on here its fabulous.... Well a little about me I am 27 years old, have strugled with my weight my entire life, have a BMI of 37 with existing comorbidities and I am here because I feel this is my last resort to live a happy fufilling life and accomplish what i want too....I have not been approved for surgery yet I am going to my PCP next Monday for a referral letter and have my actual consultation on 10/24...I am very excited and nervous at the same time...I have in the back of my hea what if I dont get approved but then I think its silly because if they dont approve me what is the sense of them even having this surgery around, I am a prime candidate....That is me being the worry wart that I am....I am here to find advice, suport, and friends....Who for once know what I am going through....I get along with everyone and welcome any opions, advice, help, and/or friendships.....God Bless Angie

Have been overweight for as long as I can remember. I am just taking starting the process to get approved for lapband surgery after years and years of failed attempts on my own.....I am here for advice and support....Any words of wisdom, advice on success stories or complications, what to ask your doctor, etc. I will take it all I am desperate...I know people that have had gastric bypass but nobody that has had lapband surgery....I think I am a little nervous that I wont get approved for the surgery but that is just me being me always very paranoid. I have over 100 pounds to lose on top of some long lasting health issues....So I am sure I will not have a problem getting approved its just the waiting game that I hate but I better get used to it....I hope to hear from all of you, I would love to talk to anyone and support each other and maybe even build long lasting friendships, I hope that everyone has a great day!!!
