  1. :confused:OK, i've tried several types of premixed Protein drinks and can't find any i really like. I've tried the muscle milk in various flavors. all of them have a distinctive taste i don't care for. i haven't tried the Boost or Ensure as they have quite a few calories. i was going to try some whey products. i thought it was flavorless to mix with other food products but it came in chocolate and vanilla. i know we all have different tastes, likes and dislikes. i hate to spend the $ for the big container of whey to find out i don't like it. what have you found that works for you?
  2. I'm a little hesitate to post this as many still seem to be having issues but here goes: I'm 4 months post op.....down 50 lbs....just had my 3rd fill and feeling good. 4 months for the first 50 and if i can do the next 50 in another 8-10 months I'll be so pleased. Started with a pant size of 48 and just bought a pair of jeans size 40. I'll be in these a while but looking forward to the day i can get into 38's. I haven't been there in years and years. Thanks to all who post and offer support for those of us who read the board.

    Before and After

congrats and thanks for sharing the pics. keep up the good work and give us another pic in the future. awesome!!!!!!!!!!
  4. my dr. recommended "Fighting Weight" by Kaileah Ali, the boxers daughter. She had lapband and this is her story. I haven't read it yet but will soon.
  5. thanks for posting and congrats on your success. i'm going for my 3rd fill also next week. so far i have very little, if any, restriction too. I'm hoping this one give me what I need. I've really cut down on my portions but some days i eat more than I think I should. I am still having to be very diligent on my own as the band is not yet as tight as it should be. keep up the good work.

    My stomach is on FIRE

my friend has lost 100+ lbs and recently has the same issue. problem was his band was too tight, so the dr. removed a small amount of saline. i don't remember if he had the burning issue but he did have the reflux. it worked for him, you problem may not be the same. i'd check with your dr., no need to be in discomfort.

    closet cleaning!

it is a fun thing to rid ourselves of the larger clothes. i was laughing the other day, i'm a boxer kind of guy, well i noticed some were looking and feeling like coolottes (sorry girls, i don't know how to spell them, but you get the idea. so i bought some new underwear. banded in jan, about 9 weeks out and i've lost 43 lbs. almost half way to my goal. the weight loss has slowed down but if i can do a lb a week, by this Christmas i should be at my goal. keep up the good work everyone and thanks for being here for me.
  8. last time i was in for my fill the dr and i were talking about the capacity of the band. even though they say it's a 14cc band they can put more, actually a lot more in it. kinda like a balloon, you can blow it up to the size of a baseball, a softball, a soccer ball etc. i've read on this board where they've tested the band and it was up in the 100cc range,or some where ridiculous like that, before it would bust. i'm not saying at all that we should go more than the recommended capacity, but just saying there is more room in them than we think.
  9. i had steak and broccoli last week with no problems. it was good to grill out again after such a looooooooooong winter here in Michigan. Small bites and chew chew chew.........i had no problems. your results may vary. enjoy
  10. same problem here. i didn't know they cathed me until i called my dr later in the day of surgery and he told me they cathed. he told me to go to the ER. why in the world do they cath for an hour surgery. i was banded 1/12/10 and still having to see my urologist. mine got so bad i had to self cath. i could only squeeze out a few drops at a time on my own. finally things are better but not normal yet. hang in there and keep us posted.
  11. seriously, i never thought about what i'd do for myself once i meet my goal. so far, banded 1/12/10, 1 fill, next fill is next week and hoping for restriction. down 41 lbs and 59 more to go. Hopefully by the fall or winter i'll be at goal. so, a few more years of a healthy and happy like is all i ask for myself. sure love being here with all of you. you are such an encouragement.
  12. a 2 part post. first of all i had my first fill yesterday. banded 1/12/2010. weighed in yesterday.......down 36 lbs from my first pre op visit. needless to say, i was very happy. dr. said normal first fill is 4cc's but since i was doing good and getting some restriction, he just put in 2cc's. i feel i need more so when i go back in 3 weeks i'll most likely get the other 2 cc's. part 2......pre op i was taking an omega 3 capsule.....it's huge. i've been leary of taking it post op cuz it's so big. anyone taking omega 3. just wanting to keep my heart healthy. i may try one in the morning but i'm concerned when i get my next fill the pill may be too large for the stoma. keep up the good work guys and gals. we're all in for the long haul, it took us years to put on the weight and it will take a while to loose it. enjoy the journey.

    Vitamins...?

i was banded 1/12/10 and have been taking my vitamins and other meds like normal. i have stopped taking my omega 3 cuz it is a horse pill and i'm leary of getting it stuck. i've had one fill and have very little restriction which allows me to take the pills. that all may change when i got for my next fill in 2 weeks. stay tuned for the rest of the story.
  14. seems a lot of us were banded about the same time. i too am having my first fill on wed the 24th. i'm down about 30 lbs but feel i'm eating a little more than i should. i do have some restriction even without a fill and if i let myself, can eat too much. i've tried to be diligent in my eating and using my band an aid instead of only relying on it to do all the work. hope this plan works for the long haul. i'll let you know how my first fill goes. i'm actually looking forward to it.
  15. I didn't know until after the surgery that they inserted a catheter. could be because my surgery also included a HH procedure and they thought it would take to long without one. anyway, i've had problems since then. feel the urge to go but having problems going. it's been 2 weeks and i'm still having issues. i've been to my urologist and he's helping with the problem. did anyone else have a problem like this?
  16. bgn

    catheter

my urologist put my on an antibotic for an infection. probably some swelling too. each day is a little better but i'm still far from normal.......hey i'm talking about my problem not my mental state.hahahaha
