I had considered having the surgery for several months before finally making the decision to proceed.  I spoke at great length with two different "friends of a friend" about their experience with the surgery and how it has worked for them.  They both have lost the weight that they needed to and did not have any problems after the surgery.   I had my surgery the day before Thanksgiving, which ended up being the perfect time to have it -- I was not able to "indulge" myself for Thanksgiving and Christmas meals.
