It shows you a preview when you mouse over the post? Not happening for me! Any suggestions?

Is it possible that your band's too tight? I can eat pretty normally in public. Would a slight unfill make any sense?

Friday - what's on *your* menu?
LapNYC replied to ElfiePoo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Today is my 1 year Bandiversary!!!!!!
LapNYC replied to MySkinnyDream's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations!!! What an accomplishment. -
The first thing I noticed was in the shower. I was washing my back and it felt boney. Such a weird sensation--like it was someone else's body.

Rare Peter Luger steak and a good hamburger

So here is a question, are you rewarding yourself at your goals?
LapNYC replied to Cangel76's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Along the way I've picked up clothing as needed, but a boob lift and tummy tuck will be the big reward. Come to think of it, I haven't gotten a massage in years and think I've earned one! I'll make that appointment tomorrow! Tattooed eyeliner? That exists? Scary, no? I'm intrigued... -
What time do you have your last "meal"??
LapNYC replied to topazz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We eat dinner at 9pm or so and go to bed soon thereafter. It doesn't create any problems for me and I look forward to that relaxing couple of hours all day! -
Question on Being Full
LapNYC replied to stevey820's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would actually argue that you need another fill. I've only had two, but I'm definitely not hungry after three or four hours (although it's starting to creep back a little). I'd agree with some others that you should step up the Protein a little. I cheat sometimes (with a cookie or something) but never have rice or Pasta as part of a meal. Most of my skinny friends tend to have protein and a vegetable for dinner and since carbs don't always work well with the band anyway, I decided to follow suit. Best of luck to you! I really think you'll know your sweet spot when you see it. -
Until now, I haven't suffered too much. I've exercised like a madwoman and been very good (not perfect) diet-wise, but it has all been sustainable and not all that painful. I'm stuck here, twenty pounds above my goal, and I can't seem to make the scale move. For those of you who reached goal, do you have to take it to a whole new level to finish the job? Should I get a fill? Right now I can eat whatever I want, albeit a little carefully. I have started to think about food more than I used to though. I'm sure the answer is to step up the exercise and cute the calories (I can't really cut carbs any further), but it's really going to hurt! Is that just life? Get a fill? This is a plateau like any other? I know this is a good problem to have, but it's rough working this hard and not getting anywhere!

Thanks all, for the great advice. Indeed I might just sit on this for a bit and just step up the exercise a little. The exercise part is easy and fun for me whereas I still looove my food! Betsey - I eat a ton of fish and nuts. I don't eat any bread/rice/potatoes now, but I'm sure that the other carb sources add up a bit. I should journal, although I hate to be confronted with my portion sizes. I can definitely eat a hunk of fish! I'll check out fitday... I don't drink a ton but I suppose I could lose that as well. It's just that I have a very nice lifestyle right now. I can drink socially and eat safely in public. These are tough things to give up. I'm tempted to get the tummy tuck and boob lift and call it a day, but I also don't want to just "settle". I'll try a combination of the above suggestions and check back in a few weeks. Again, thanks so much for taking the time to advise!

How often do you weigh yourself?
LapNYC replied to WrenBird's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Daily for me too. I don't put a lot of emphasis on it, but it keeps me honest. -
Great accomplishment!

Anyone interested in a Christmas challenge?
LapNYC replied to lauragshsu's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Only if anyone happened to print it somewhere along the way. Anyone? -
Anyone interested in a Christmas challenge?

Totally sucks. I don't have great records anywhere else. Anyone can mess with the spreadsheet so I guess this was always a possibility. Bummer! -
So what exactly DOES good restriction feel like?
LapNYC replied to OneYearLater's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You sound restricted to me. I never PB and almost never get stuck. I could eat a lot if I wanted to, but I try not to and sort of lose interest along the way. I stay satiated between meals. From what I read on these boards, I think I have a perfect level of restriction--the good without the bad--and you sound quite similar. Good luck! -
Why couldn't YOU lose weight without the lap band?
LapNYC replied to amberakamom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm the same as most people here. I was always great at losing weight. My wedding dress designer said that I lost more weight between fittings than anyone she had ever seen. It's just that I too could never keep it off. I always went to the gym and never sat around eating doughnuts or anything, and absolutely never snacked. I was just always starving and ate giant portions at meals. With the band that's undesirable and impossible. -

101 pounds lost forever!

Congratulations! What a great milestone. Now that I look, we're on pretty comparable paths. Is this band the greatest or what???!! -
Great success story!

How long does it take to become a runner?
LapNYC posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Even fat, I was an exerciser and right now I'm in reasonably good shape. My workouts have gotten a little predictable, so I decided to try and go for a run. I felt like the most awkward, least coordinated person in the world. I could barely get my feet off the ground, and I was once a Division I athlete. How long does it take to find your groove? I'm comfortable in a gym, but in the big bad world, I'm at a loss. I couldn't figure out what to wear, what to listen to and how to run like a normal person. I felt like a giant elephant. Any successful runners out there who went through some growing pains in the early going? I was chanting "never again" to myself for the duration. TORTURE! -
Dear Dr. Schulman, Many questions for you: I recently lost a lot of weight. A TT is a top priority with a breast lift and maybe implants to follow. When done in conjunction, how long is one under anesthesia? If the patient is willing to deal with the cost and the hassle of it, it it better to do one procedure at a time? I never had good legs, even when I was thin. Does a lower body lift address cellulite and poor muscle tone in upper thighs? I lost 100 lbs and am pretty fit and a former athlete. No exercise is going to address the issue. If I have young children and wanted to have plastic surgery and not tell friends, how long would I have to disappear for? How long without exercise? I'm not sure I'm saying it correctly but I have an issue with anticardiolipin antibodies. A clotting something. How would this come into play? I've had several (non plastic) surgeries in the past without incident. I used to have large breasts but they've seen better days. is it possible to get a lift and implants that allow them to age well and look natural? If I just had a lift I think they'd be too small compared to my body, but in all honesty at 40 and happily married I'm not trying to impress anyone. Is there such a thing as a not noticeable, natural, reasonable (36C?) list with implants? People always seem to go so crazy. And then I have no eyelids so there's that when I'm 50. I can see how this might become addictive. What is the first age-related procedure people do? After the 100 lbs, my face is worse for wear. Sorry. Lots of questions. Sinai is my hospital (although I was banded at NYU) so I'm particularly curious about your responses. Thanks in advance for all.

What has being fat kept you from doing?
LapNYC replied to MountainMama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great story. Totally! I made my husband go to a few weddings by himself. I never went to his office parties. I've always been a good athlete but didn't participate in anything. Didn't go to college or graduate school reunions. The list goes on...
