Help!!!!!! Has anyone gained weight at the mushie stage????
vgerbus replied to gigim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The time between your surgery and your first fill is for your body to heal. Any weight that you gain is very minimal compared to what you would be gaining if you were not banded. Now is not the time to worry about gaining or losing. I had the similar thing happen after my surgery. I am now two years out and have lost 85#. Take a deep breath and give yourself a break. You will be losing in no time. -
Anyone know a $200 or less fill doctor in DFW area
vgerbus replied to flowers's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Flowers, I did use Dr. Maese for a while but the drive to Dallas was three hours each way as I lived in Shreveport, LA. Someone on this site gave me the name of Dr. Kathleen Querry. She does fills in Marshall, TX which would be quite a ways for you but she also does fills in Paris, TX. You might check but I think Pais is closer than Tyler. Her fills are $130.00 w/o floro. If there is no fill the visit is only $30.00. I only have her Marshall phone #903-938-7200. -
I think this might be the link you are looking for. Mexican_Bandsters : Mexican Bandsters I don't go to that site much anymore. I have found that there are a few old timers that seem to get under each others skins and there is a lot of bickering back and forth between them. I find most of the questions I have I can usually find the answer here and if not I usually will post a question here.

Spicy food will not hurt your band. I love spicy! It will occasionally give me heartburn however.

Congratulations!! on your upcoming surgery. You are exactly one month after my surgery. I had a TT, MR, BL, BA, & lipo done at the same time and was sent home the day of surgery. My surgery was only 4 hours but you should do fine going home the day of surgery. I didn't have the pain pump but had some good liquid pain meds. I was off all pain meds by the third day after surgery but I am taking Motrin right now because of the 20 lb watermelons sitting on my chest. I would suggest a recliner to sleep in for the first few days. I didn't have the option of using a recliner beause my friend who is helping me recover doesn't have one but I really would have loved to have hd one. Good luck on your upcoming surgery. The last few weeks should just fly by. Wishing you no pain!

Both my band doctor and my fill doctor are ok with me taking asprin. The only thng that will get rid of my headaches are Excedrin. In fact my fill doctor said she would rather me take the excedrin instead of Motrin because she has seem more patients come in with problems from the Motrin than the Excedrin. Each doctor is different. Right now I am having a hard time because I just had surgery and I am having to go asprin free for another week because of the blood thinning that asprin causes.

I am so sorry that you are going through this. I had a similar situation happen and things can work out if that is what you want. My initial step was a divorce and 6 months later and lots of soul searching and counseling together and apart we remarried and have been together since. Married in 91, divorced in 96, and remarried in 97. That is not to say that it has been a cake walk but it is so much better. There is more to my story but I won't bore everyone with the details but you can email me privately if you want to talk.

It's great that someone started this thread. I am scheduled for a tummy tuck, breast lift w/augmentation and lipo on June 3. I am getting extremely excited and also a little anxious but more excited than anything.

Disapproving family...help!
vgerbus replied to Aphrodite1984's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You should be fine having surgery in Mexico. I did it almost two years ago in Monterrey, MX and would certainly go back again if I needed. The first time I did take a friend with me because she could speak Spanish and was my interpreter. I don't even think I needed her until we went out shopping! Most of the nurses didn't speak English, but the patient coordinator should give you a sheet with some common phrases to help you communicate with the nurses. The second time I went back down was for my first fill, by myself, and I went out shopping by myself. Never had a problem, didn't carry a lot of cash, I did take my purse with me, still never had a problem. There are places in Mexico I would never think of going to because of high crimes and such but there are also places in the US that I would never think of going to for the exact same reasons. Don't let anyone here scare you away from having surgery in Mexico and don't let your family scare you away either. Show them the research you have done. Make sure you have an aftercare doctor lined up BEFORE you go to Mexico as many doctors will not give you "fills" or aftercare if you are not their patient, regardless if you went to Mexico or just a different doctor in the US. Only you know if the doctor in Mexico is really who YOU want. -
I live in Louisiana but I am having my surgery done in Omaha, NE, because my BFF is going to take care of me for 3 weeks after surgery. I figured I would get more sympathy from her instead of my DH. I am having a TT, BL, BA, and Lipo for $11,350.00 including Anastasia. The more procedures you have done the better the price.

Have you had your first fill yet? The time between your surgery and first fill is time for recovery. Any weight loss between that time is purley a bonus. Once you start receiving your fills you weight will start to go down again. Good luck!

Cheryl, Have not had the surgery yet (June 3, 2008) but I did look on a website for patients banded in Mexico. (I was banded in Monterrey, Mexico) I did find one doctor on their site, Dr. Stephen Malley,5820 Lamar Suite 200, Mission, KS 66204 (913)492-2530 $250/initial consultation $100/fills thereafter. I don't know how current this information is but you should give him a call. There were also 2 doctors listed in Topeka, KS. Not sure how closer/further this is than Omaha. I only had one reply from anyone in Omaha. I still need to call the number I was given to see if they would consider doing an unfill if necessary. If you want the names of the doctors in Topeak let me know and I will forward on the names and numbers.

Wheetsin, I have been in almost the exact scenario but with a 4 year old in the car as well. Hire a good lawyer, a good lawyer is worth every penny you pay him and can handle all the paperwork hassles and BS from your insurance and the persons who hit you!
