October 2006 Bandsters!

I know exactly what you mean when speak of food as a friend. It's been like a grieving process for me and I'm not even banded yet! I gave up sugar first because it was my closest friend, then I gave up bread, last I gave up red meat. Along the way I dropped 12 pounds. Now I'm on the liquid diet part and it's interesting. I will say I have made the best shakes. I get unsweetened milk made from almonds with chocolate from the health food store, chocolate whey powder from Wal-Mart, and some equal. I put 12 oz almond milk, scoop of whey, one to two equals and ice. It's so good! The whey powder keeps me full, too. This drink has fewer carbs than the Slim-fast Optima and about 10 less calories and less fat. I include multi-vitamins and minerals and I'm good to go!

October 2006 Bandsters!

Hello all! I am sooo excited! I am sooo ready to not be this size anymore. I caught a glimpse of myself as a reflection on the tv screen and I was revolted by what I saw. I am really truly ready. I have lost 12 pounds (My doctor requires a 5% weight loss before surgery which I just met!) and I start the liquid diet tomorrow. Woo-hoo! Its true what they say, I do feel better with each pound. My knees are a little bit better, I haven't had to use my nitro for chest pain at all which is amazing. I'm totally psyched. I lifted a five pound bag of sugar and it made me understand just how much work my body is doing. I was feeling bad about losing weight but looking the same until I lifted it. Now I get what it is I am doing for myself and why. Five pounds is surprisingly heavy! I think all of us are amazing for taking this step. It's a hard decision and I am very proud of us. Congratulations to us all for starting this journey back to health, back to ourselves and back to comfortably fitting into seats! Jessica P.S. I hope this didn't post 3 times. It won't upload. But I keep clicking JWH Banding Oct. 6th Dr. Ortiz

October 2006 Bandsters!

Hello All! I'm joining you October banders! Hello! I am excited! My date is October 6th by Dr. Ortiz. The pre-op instrucitons include a 5% weight loss. I have 12 pouunds to lose and two weeks to go. So far, so good. I started yoga which I hope I can keep up. I am also using an elliptical trainer. And I hope to incorporate swimming by November. A friend of mine who lost 100+ pounds on Opti-fast and has kept it off a year and a half later swears both the loss and the maintenance to doing different kinds of exercise. Are we going to challenge ourselves like the September banders are doing?
4. Also, I created a ticker, but cannot seem to get it to work.
5. I am being banded on the 6th and I am nervous as well. Where do I find the September bandees page?
