Hi everyone. Sorry, but this is my first chance to get on and put my weight. I was down another 3 this week. I am really trying to be on my best behavior. I go for my first fill on Tuesday so I keep telling myself "I can make it until then...just keep the portions small and healthy...." But man do I need a fill! I'm hungry! :hungry:

Hello everyone! I would also like to be included in your Christmas Challenge if that is okay. I will weigh in on Monday. I was banded on September 19th and have my first fill on Halloween. YIPPPEEEEEEEEE!!!!

Hi. Had the band placed on September 19 (last Tuesday). I am wondering if any other surgeons put "no restrictions" on their orders? I returned to work 7 days post-op and have no restrictions. I even double checked with his office and they said to go at my own pace. Even lifting weights if I want to. I am a nurse and work in surgery and so obviously I am moving unconscious patients around all day. I have worked this week and haven't felt any complications, but all this "no-lifting" talk is making me nervous.

I was also a self pay. I just had the band on the 19th of September. After being denied a year ago from my insurance company, I decided this is crazy...I spend this much on a new car, but not on me? I too have 3 kids to put through college, but with a supportive husband we decided that by me doing this I am extending my life so I can be around to see my kids go to college. I am 32 and have a 13,12, and 10 year old. I am a registered nurse and work 3 days a week so I missed only two days of work to have the surgery. I also am in school for an advanced degree and my instructor and my classmates didn't even know I had it done! (My co-workers did however because I am a nurse in the very operating room where I had my surgery) So not only is the pressure to succeed due to financial sacrifices-I eat lunch everyday with my surgeon. :biggrin1:

Hello everyone! After many years of yo-yo dieting I decided to get the lap-band. My insurance denied me, therefore I was a private pay. I figure I can spend that much on a car then I can spend that much on me! I just had my surgery on Tuesday (September 19) and am up moving around. Muscle soreness still around the port site, but otherwise feeling great! Maybe too great! I am hungry...and tired (so tired of liquids.) But I am dedicated and will follow doctor's orders. I look forward to talking with all of you for support, motivation, and maybe some day venting! Eve

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! Carmen I am from the Janesville area...I had my surgery in Fort Atkinson by Dr. Marc Erickson. To answer the question about the self pay...it was $17,500 but included everything including the first years adjustments. I am getting around better and off the pain meds. I go for my 1 week post op visit tomorrow! I am still sore at the port site and it hurts like the dickens when I bend over or sit for a period of time. But it's definately getting better! :clap2: -
I had surgery on the 19th of this month and still am tender at my port site. I am still quite swollen there as well. But my pain reaches all away around my back on the left side. Feels mostly like muscle pain. It seems to bother me more when I am sitting. I often find myself having to reposition to get rid of the "catch" I feel. I also still can't bend over to pick something up without having quite a bit of pain. And if I am standing or walking for a period of time I find that i have to splint my stomach at the port site. I agree, the ice bag helps with the swelling.
