Any banded folks do the 'couch to 5k' program?
patyann replied to 1970MaleJaxFL's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I started the C25K at about 280, I love the program. Just listen to your body especially your knees. Start slow repeat weeks if you need to. It took me about 7 months to complete the 12 week program but I never suffered from any injuries. Good Luck to you! -
Could it be a mental block? I know for me when I started running, i had this mental block at a mile. I thought I could not do it and when I would approach the mile marker my mind kept mentioning "oh no here comes the mile" and I would stop, my legs were like logs. I started thinking of all the things running would do for me and forced "the mile" out of my head and I was able to get past it. Good luck and don't stop you will get there!

Tell her Fat Free usually means more sugar than the regular stuff so you are choosing the better of the two options. -
Abs are created in the kitchen and then the gym

BCBS and 3 months with dietitian, what do they expect?
patyann replied to m1aman's topic in Insurance & Financing
My understanding (I too have BC/BS) is they want to see your committment more than your progress. I lost about 30 pounds and was still approved. Best of luck to you. -
"Standing Ovation" Kudos to you for taking the first step to your new life, admitting to yourself that you need to make changes.

Congrats! You're doing awesome! Have fun shopping.

Make sure you have it on a level surface, not carpeting. If I weigh myself on a hard surface and then again on carpeting, it is very different. Good luck!

breast size b4 and after weight loss surgery
patyann replied to DoingIt4Me!'s topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
We have the same stats. I am a 42F, started at 277 and am down to 229, no change in breasts only band. I am now in a 38F. I think genetics plays a BIG role. I have considered getting a reduction but like you my girls have always been a source of compliment. HMMMM I suppose I will consider a reduction when they become an annoyance. GOOD LUCK TO YOU> -
You've got my vote. Good luck - please do let us know if you won!

This is going on the fridge at home and my office at work. I do not like one pound, I do not like it at all!!!

I too am doing the C25K and have new balance running shoes. I love them. However, you should probably try several brands before deciding, make sure you go to a store where they fit you (not a department store) and you can wear them around the store until you feel you have a good idea of how they will work for you.

I am a 40H and absolutely love the Wacoal brand. the underwires are on the outside of the bra - VERY comfortable and supportive for running.

Where are my fellow November 2010 bandsters????
patyann replied to Toohotfortv's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am here! Banded 11-09-10. I am down 40 lbs, post surgery. I feel amazing!!!! You're so very right that exercise is key as the band is only a tool not a miracle. Although I feel like it is working miracles for me (or maybe I am working the miracles with it???) Anyway congrats to you and keep Zumbaing! -
How is everyone handling buying new clothes?
patyann replied to topazz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Clothes Mentor - same concept (and company) as Plato's Closet but for women. -
I understand your fears. For me there was absolutely no pain from the surgery itself. But the gas pain was bad, manageable but bad for a day or two.

Question about reaching that ever elusive "Sweet Spot"
patyann replied to OneYearLater's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It may very well be from your weight lifting. You mention your clothes are looser but your weight is staying the same. This happens very often when you are gaining muscle mass. Hang in there the scale will move when your body adjusts. Your doing great!:smile2:
