every morning in Africa the Gazelle wakes up and says to himself, "today I must be faster than the fastest lion", the Lion wakes and says "today I must be faster than the slowest Gazelle" Fast or slow doesn't matter, this is your race to run, go for your personal best every time. Good luck to you

I am so jealous - I have always dreamed of being a derby girl. How did you get started?

Started as a 42 H, lost 80 pounds now a 38 H. For me, they are genetic more than they are due to my having been overweight.

If you have uped your exercise lately it may be water retention. Muscle holds onto water when healing. Just keep on keeping on and it will come off. -
Would you get the band if you had a chance have a "do over"
patyann replied to Jim1967's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The only thing I wish is I would have done it sooner. I have lost 70 pounds in 8 months and feel great! -

I was banded one day before you. I too have stalled in my weight loss and can sometimes get stuck and not sure if I should get a fill or not.

I'm freaking at a plateau............
patyann replied to Beachy_Babs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to stop focusing on the numbers the scale shows...it was driving me insane, causing me to want to throw in the towel. Now I pick out a goal outfit, give myself time to get there. Once I )achieve that outfit (size, style, whatever) I pick another. So now rather than having a goal weight, I have a goal outfit to achieve. It has really helped me. -
Good luck and wishes for a speedy recovery-

Hang in there James! I think Meekie gave a wonderful idea about remembering how you were before. Sorry about the loss of your mom - you will get through this. Best of luck to you.

I feel your pain! Hang in there and feel free to vent anytime. -
I have BC/BS of IL *** - was denied the first time, second time went right through. It took me about 9 months from seminar to surgery though.

JennyPenny- Hang in there - it will get easier and one day you will realize you're not hungry like before the band and you're satisfied much longer. Good Luck!

Nine months out and never lost any hair. Also the gas pains were very minimal and were gone within a day or two. Everyone is different so maybe yours won't be a bad experience at all, even if it is a bit painful it is WORTH IT in the end.

It is a wonderful feeling when someone notices!

I love #4 - I will use that. I am so struggling right now. I had my surgery in November 2010 and have lost 68 pounds. But the last two months nothing.I am starting to crave carbs, especially sweets! I am trying to get back into the swing of things but it so frustrating. Any advice you can give would be great! -
GREAT NSV!!! I have to remind myself that I don't need to pull my seat up. Since I have shrunk, my belly doesn't touch the wheel and I think "Oh I am too far away" and then realize I am not.

Mine was a burning sensation - three stress fractures - ouch! Though they did heal very nicely and I am running again, albiet at a much lower weight now.

Question about self image after weight loss
patyann replied to Damander's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My thoughts on this are this..we spend so much time avoiding pictures, looking in the mirror, etc. because of our distain of what we see, that we never really get a good image of where we are size wise. So as we begin to lose weight we start to pay attention to our body in the mirror and because we did not really have a good idea of what we looked like before losing our initial weight we mentally cannot compare. We see ourselves after we have lost 50 pounds as looking the same because it was after the 50 pounds we really started to look at ourselves so that is really our starting point. I hope this makes sense.
