I have been dieting for the past 28 years.  I could run my own weight watchers class with all the information I have acquired.  My problem is I am in a never ending cycle of joining w.w., losing around 20lbs, platoing, quitting, and gaining the weight back plus extra.  I am so fed up with being failure!  I finally made the decision to get information about the lap-band and went to the information seminar at Lehigh Valley Hospital.  I was excited to get the process started.  I felt I needed this crutch (lap-band) with me at all times or I don't think I will ever succeed. I thought I would qualify.  I was sure my BMI was 40, but when I went for my first appointment my BMI was 38.6. Apparently I am not 5ft 3in, I am 5ft 4.5 in.  I have Capital Blue insurance and they will only cover if it is 40 and higher or 35 with some medical conditions.  I do have high cholesterol, but that doesn't seem to be enough.  I wanted to ask them to give me a few hours and I can make it to a 40BMI.   The pre-op program is $415 out of pocket....really can't afford this, but will find it somewhere.  Do I risk it and attend the pre-op program not knowing if I will be approved for the surgery?  Right now I am disappointed and confused on what to do.
