Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris
jojo33 replied to susanlondon's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
I'm a bit annoyed at myself for being sucked into the "last supper" syndrome. I've eaten quite badly for the last week or so, and today is my last day before my pre-op diet starts. I've eaten anything and everything, followed by nearly two bottles of wine and some chocolates. I've now started to worry that the band isn't for me, I understand willpower and resolve is involved, but I don't seem to have any of either!! I've read so many success stories, I'm terrified that I will be the one to fail in a big way. Surely none of us would have got big in the first place if we had enough willpower? I'm hoping someone can re-assure me here, but I won't be surprised if no-one can. -

Baarbs, Thanks for that, I thought as much. I suppose it's better to be safe, could have done with a few drinks to settle the nerves I'll no doubt have though!! And by the way, WOW!! You've done so well already, well done. :bored: Pre-op diet starts tomorrow, can't wait -

Scooby Doo, I haven't had surgery yet, but I'm booked with Dr Chris in 2 weeks time. I thought about the surgery and researched it for 2 years before making a decision and it was this forum that helped me to make my mind up. Dr Chris seems to have an excellent reputation, and I have to say I don't think you could get it done by a better surgeon in the UK. The only difference would be a few thousand pounds!! I hope you come to the decision that's right for you. A quick question for anyone else - I'm about to start my pre-op low fat diet. I was just wondering how strict you should be? I will be good for the next 2 weeks, but I was wondering if a nice meal and maybe a few drinks is allowed the night before the surgery? Cheers, -

Hi all, So excited now, I've just managed to figure a way to jiggle my finances around to make it possible to go for the date I wanted, 12 Feb!! I've emailed Frederik, just hope all the spaces on that date haven't been filled already. Julie, sorry for the delay in replying, I only just got back online after spending much time with work, Uni assignments and borrowing from Peter to pay Paul! Don't be silly, you didn't sound critical at all hun, I was worried about that too. Going on 12 Feb means I don't have to take my daughter with me which is good. The only down-side is that I will be going on my own. (I know Baarbs, but I'll pack light - no choice). Glad to hear it's going so well already for those recently banded. I'm stocking up on slim-fasts for my return! -

Julie, I guess it's bank transfers and cash payments then. :w00t: Never mind. I was going to go on my own with my daughter if I have to wait until April. I did worry about her night alone in the hotel but I talked to her about it and she reckons it's fine. She's very mature for her age, but I know what you mean, it isn't ideal. I'm still hoping for February though, but unfortunately I have to rely on solicitors and insurance companies for that (I'm owed roughly £3000.00). I very much doubt it will arrive in time. Tempted to make enquiries about getting a short term loan, it would be a damn sight easier if they would accept credit card payments!!! Grrrr. -

Hi Julie, Thanks for that info. Is that the only method of payment they take for deposits? :w00t: Looks like I'll have to wait a couple of weeks before I can book in that case. And regards the balance you pay when you get there, does that have to be cash? Not sure I like the idea of carrying that much money around with me. I'd love to book the same date as you, but I have to try to fit it in with school holidays I'm afraid (my daughter is 14 so I'd prefer she came with me, single mum). I still haven't heard anything from Frederik, but it is weekend so I shall wait to see what tomorrow brings, then I can ask him to provide me with date options. -

Hahaha, good to know it's not just me then Julie, lol. I've got another question that's just occurred to me... When you confirm the date you are going ahead with it, I presume you have to pay a deposit? How much is that? I'm not sure if I can even book it yet, lol. I've been doing the same, looking through catalogues and annoying my daughter by saying I want to borrow her clothes when I'm her size (she hates the thought!) -

Thanks Bobobaldy and Julie, and welcome Jean - I've replied to your PM hun. Anyone else pre-op having the same problem I am? I can't stop thinking about it! I'm going to drive myself mad if I can't get it done until April and my obsession doesn't subside a little bit. -

Hi Garry and Julie, thanks for the warm welcomes. Good to hear everything went well on Friday for the 7 that were having their surgery. I've had a reply from Dr Chris telling me he's passing my details to his management for them to contact me. However he doesn't have any available dates for the week I could have gone in February. Not to worry, I'm sure I'll sort something out and may end up going around the same time as you Julie! Maybe the week before you. We can be weight loss buddies!! :w00t: I have to say, now I've made the decision to do it, I'm so so excited, I'd go tomorrow if I could. There's a thin, happy person waiting to get out. Quick question for anyone, Dr Chris sent me a medical questionnaire, can I just fill it in myself or do I have to go to my doctor? Do I have to speak to my doctor at any rate before booking it? Hi all, I've read the last few pages of posts on this forum. I just thought I'd introduce myself to you all. I've struggled with my weight all of my adult life and considered surgery a few years ago. I decided to give conventional methods of weight loss more of a chance as I simply could not afford the surgery. Needless to say I FAILED as usual! I've finally plucked up the courage to go for it (though I still can't really afford it, but I console myself with how much less money I'll be spending on food afterwards!) Now have made my mind up, I'm hoping that Dr Chris can do the surgery mid February, I don't hang about! I've just emailed him and I'm hoping for a quick response. Is anyone else booked to have their surgery around that time? Well done all of you on your incredible journeys so far! You've been such an inspiration to me. Jo. p.s. does anyone know how to get past entering a state and zip code when you set up your profile if you aren't from the USA??
