I was banded on January 12. So far, I've lost 18.5 lbs, 15 of them the first week! I haven't lost anything in about a week and its FRUSTRATING! I eat every 4 hours and about 1/2 cup of food for meals then maybe a yogurt or Protein shake as a snack. I exercise 5 days a week, on the treadmill for at least 30 minutes usually more like 40 minutes each time. I have to wait 8 weeks for my first fill which is scheduled for March 29th. Is this normal and is there anything else I should do?

4 days post-op, really bad hunger pains
lalmom replied to Huckleberry Gal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey there! I was banded on the 12th and don't go back to the doc until the 22nd to hopefully advance to puree. I get those hunger pains and I also feel light headed at times. When I start to get these feelings, I drink Water or another Protein shake. It seems to really help me! It's definitely not easy with all the food commercials on tv and people eating all around you. You just have to keep in mind the end goal...weight loss! You WILL get through the hunger pain...it's not easy but it will happen. For me, I've tried to identify whether I'm truly hungry, or "head hungry." Before I was banded, I would eat out of boredom. Now I don't have that option so I know it's just head hunger and try to keep myself busy!! Good luck!! -
I actually posed this question in the nutrition class I was required to take prior to surgery. My doc's parameters are minimum of 60 g a day but he would like to see you somewhere in the neighborhood of 60-90 g. I asked if there was such a thing as too much Protein and he told me that unless the patient has a kidney problem, the more protein the merrier. I was also told that it's always good to make sure you are getting plenty of "other" fluids (Water, juice, etc) to make sure you are flushing the protein through. I wouldn't suggest getting 150+ g's a day but I think you're probably doing fine! Good luck!!

Hi All! I am 3 days post op and am having trouble getting the Protein shakes down. Just wondering if I could add a half of a banana and maybe a tbsp of Peanut Butter to say like a myoplex Protein shake. I figure if I blend it til it's all liquified it should be ok right?? Does anyone have any suggestions??

Full Liquid diet questions

I actually have been just drinking the EAS Myoplex lite Protein shakes. The taste is just getting monotonous. My husband is an avid fitness person and he makes his protein shakes in the blender like this: 12 ounces skim milk, whatever fruit we may have, 2 scoops of Protein powder and maybe some Peanut Butter. I was thinking, I know I'm not supposed to have solid foods, but if I put a Myoplex shake, 1/2 banana, and a tbsp of peanut butter in the blender, it will liquify it! Thanks for your help! When were you banded?
