Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Acid Reflux
CrissK replied to Determined2010's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am sorry for all your troubles. Is it some comfort that there is a physical problem? I always think that figuring is out is 1/2 the battle. Hopefully, this will fix your reflux issues, and you can go on with life. For the 30 days unfilled staring you in the face, stare back! Don't let them win. Set a goal, make a plan and stick to it. A new goal that I am making fro February is to get in more exercise. I have been very busy with school, and not been able to do what I want and need to do. So I pledge to get out to walk or to the Y for at least 30 minutes, at least 3 times a week. I always have to remember that when I set a goal, to do it in small steps that are attainable!!!!! This I can do, no WILL do! You can make it thru this. Think about something you will do to help keep the weight down and let me know. I also find it helps when we know someone else is watching, (in a good way) It helps keep us accountable. Stay in touch and keep focused. Talk soon, Criss -
Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Acid Reflux

Determined2010, I also have had issues with reflux an dhad all removed from my band for several months. I too am 4 years out. I recently chatted with another lady with the same issues, same time frame. WOW! I so thought I was all alone. Not that that makes it any better, but just to know that it's not me. I had my first adjustment 1-11-10 after 6 months unfilled, and so far so good. I have had a couple bouts of what I would call indegistion, that went away after a tums. And I charted it back to some spicy food i ate. I LOVE the spicy! But I really take it slower now. I try and get in al my water and that seems to help. I'd be happy to buddy up with you and we can help encourage each other. Take care, Criss -

Wow, your story sounds too much like mine. I was suffering with the acid reflux for a long time and I too was having fevers, becasue I was aspirating food into my lungs at night when I was coughing. I didn't want to believe it was my band, and didn't until I landed in the hospital for a weekend after waking up in the middle of the night with chest pains. I was completely unfilled in July 2009 and dr didn't want me to start with the fills agin until after she was sure there were no heart issues. I was cleared from all that in November, and then just had my first fill in about 9 months on Monday. So it is like starting all over again, and I 'm finding myself being much more cautious of what I put into my mouth. I too am fearful of the reflux coming back. What about you? Have you heard about this happening with other people? I have gained about 15 pounds and really need to take it and another 20 -25 off. So let's get back on track and "just do it!" Criss -

I am there with you. I had my surgery 12-05. I had some problems with gastric reflux, and had to be UNfilled. I just rec'd my first fill after 8 months and so far so good. But it's like learning all over again. So I have come back her for support and encouragement. We can do this together.
