  1. So I'm on Spring Break and spent most of the day trying on stuff and weeding out stuff. I have moved from a 3X or 24 to a L on top and a 16 or 18 on the bottom--I am bying much less while I transition from size to size. Meanwhile I have wonderful, beautiful clothing that has to go. Formal wear, resort wear, casual professional wear, good brands like CJ Banks, Coldwater Creek, etc. Do I size lot them and put them on ebay, separate one item aat a time on ebay...really I just want to give them a good home--if I give them to sis she won't wear most of it, Mom won't either. So what do you guys do?
  2. Too funny, I teach at Depew HS! Sorry aboutht he 24's as my DD posted them on ebay to help pay her deposit for a France trip. However, keep in touch as you get to 20, 18, etc. I will have those in the future!

    Finally!!!

Good for you! Slow and steady and it will stay off, you are doing great, keep up the good work!
  4. I'm almost three months out from surgery and I get teh pain in my port area when I bend down to tie my sneakers, or zip my boots depending upon how high and tight my jeans waistband is.
  5. the hole becomes smaller with each fill until you reach your level of restriction commonly referred to as the "sweet spot". I have had two fills and am still not there yet. Maybe the next one? I hope to be at restriction before I go on summer vacation. That leaves time for 3 more fills!
  6. Driven mad by the desire to chew something about 10 days after surgery. Fortunately I had an appt at day 12 and was told to go ahead with mushies and progree from there. Real hunger returned about the same time.
  7. I started out at CJ Banks today and hit the fitting room with my usual armload of clothing--the girls all know me by name in there I am there so much! Anyway, they didn't recognize me--its been over 50 pounds since I shopped! once we got going I found nothing in there that fit--only isze 16W pants but I've decided to wear the 18's until I fit comfortably into a 14--ie can breath after buttoning them! I ended up leaving there empty handed with an escort from the store to the Christopher and Banks store in the same mall. I ended up buying nothing, but the XL tops were too big, L fit beautifully, but we don't go on vacation until end of July so I am holding out in hopes of medium! Pants were a whole new issue, no W after the number! I still left them all in hopes of 14's. SO NSV's moving from 24/26 to 18's and larges fitting in the non handicapped lavatory when out fitting into the little seats in the HS auditorium when my DD has a cello performance dropping two shoe sizes dropping from a 48DD to a 38 C I go to my reg Dr. in a few weeks and I can't wait to see my bloodwork numbers--hopefully by then I will be able to go off the cholesterol meds!
  8. I'm so sorry that you are in pain. The swelling and pain will go away in a few days. Even with hitting the port on the first try, I am bruised and swollen after a fill. The bruises are about the size of a silver dollar and stay for about two to three weeks. If you are allowed, take some tylenol, it will help with the swelling and pain. Under floroscopy your surgeon won't be able to miss the port so that is good news and when they get in there and see what is going on they will be able to better fill you. I know easier said than done, but don't worry about things that you can't control and that may not even be a problem. Worry about what you can control, your diet and exercise. Watch what you are consuming and try to fit in some form of exercise, even walking will help. You put yourself through a surgery to help you lose weight, if you don't follow an eating and exercise program even with the band in place you won't lose weight. Take control of what you can and things will fall into place in time.
  9. Maybe reframe your thinking....have you ever lost 20 pounds in 2 and a half months and kept it off? You are not at restiction yet, so it is all you doing the work, and your work is paying off. Don't be so hard on yourselves!
  10. I have been exercising. I go to the gym and work out for about an hour and 15 minutes three times per week (cardio, weights and core) and then walk a few other times per week for about two miles.
  11. Hi MissCherita. I am two months and 8 days out with two fills and very little weight loss so far this month! I have lost weight at the rate of 8 pounds the first time I went for a fill (4 weeks after my post op appt), 7.5 the second time (4 weeks later), but nothing in the last week. I am not at restriction and am having a tough time not eating the things I want to! I am trying to increase exercise, but so far that hasn't tipped the scale in the right direction either! I think most of our group will be in bandster hell for a while longer, but when we get going I'm sure we will be losing at a good pace! Good luck reigning everything back in while you wait for the band to begin doing its job.
  12. Great Idea, now to find something in my area (near Buffalo, NY) for that!
  13. Thanks for the suggestions...I may try a combo of all of them! Except for the burn--that pile I just threw out since it is trash night! Formal wear on ebay Lots of like minded things (common size and brand) freecycle, craigslist or this board if people will pay for shipping Things I think my sis or mom would wear I will give to them Anything that is left I'll drop at Goodwill or Amvets Thanks, all this smaller sizes stuff is new to me and I am a clothes horse!
  14. Do you have a Fashion bug by you? Right now they haave pants on sale for like $9.99 and red tag is all bogo. I bought two pair to hold me to the next 10 pounds. I didn't want to spend too much, but need at least one good fitting pair of balck dress pants for work, so this did the trick and I got two pair. Also the orange stickers are all 3.98 no matter what they are marked. I needed new spring/summer tops for work as my arm holes were nearly down to my waist when I checked last years. For $80 I ended up with two pair of pants, 7 shirts and a skirt.
  15. Yeah for you! Congratulations, it is a wonderful feeling to get on the scale and be happy with what it says!
  16. My Dr. said no food on fill day, just liquids. Then 24 hours clear liquids, 3 days full liquid, 3 days mushies and then whatever as tolerated.

    Short Term Disability

My job does not require heavy lifting, but I was told two weeks. When I went in for my post op appt at day 11, I told them I had already gone back to work. I had surgery on a Friday and I believe I could have gone back on Wednesday--by then I had stopped taking my pain meds. I was too sleepy on the pain meds or I could have gone back sooner. It didn't matter though as I had the whole week off for February break, so I used one sick day on the day of surgery.
  18. I lost 8 pounds from first post surgery visit to first fill. I go today for the second fill and think I've lost 6 more pounds. I am down 27 pounds total from pre-op and so far post-op diet. I was banded 2-12-10.
  19. Wow! That is such great news! Here's to your continued success!

    post op Dr appointment

First follow up was 11 days after surgery, first fill was 3 weeks after that and second fill was 4 weeks after that.
  22. I use the small bottles that have 0 carb and 15 grams of protein (8 ounce bottles). The Alpine Punch is ok and I like the Grape Frost. I bought a case of each on Amazon.

    Approved! Have Q's!

Mine worked a bit differently. Saw PC, then called Bariatric Specialist. Saw psych, saw nut, had bloodwork, saw surgeon, waited for and got approval, had ekg, chest xray and more bloodwork, got clearance from PC and had a nutrition/exercise class, did liquid pre op for 2 weeks, had surgery. Today I go in for fill #2, and while I doubt that will give me resrtiction I hope it does bring me closer to it!
  24. Mashed cauliflower at Ruby Tuesday's is my favorite!
