Tried scallops, the big tender ones about a month or so ago. They were fine, I cut them up into the right size pieces. They were so tender that they just melted. I think you'll be safe ordering them!

Do I need a little unfill?
patsal replied to TN_girl21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
About a week ago I was in the same place. I couldn't even get liquids down in the am, by late afternoon, I could drink, but couldn't get solids down. I called and went in to have half of the previous fill pulled out. (they had put in .5 so I had .25 taken out, now I can eat and drink everything and I need to get a small fill. She said if I did need a fill on the 21st they would put in half of what they took out. -
Am I the only one that thinks this is a diet?
patsal replied to pickles123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My thoughts exactly, never have I lost weight as consistently and never been hungry! -
The process is a lot slower than I had hoped it would be . I am more on the 1 pound per week side of weight loss. Slow and steady I guess!

4th of July Challenge!
patsal replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Slow down and put it inot perspective. While it is not ok to give yourself carte blanche to eat whatever, whenever, it is done and over with, move on. I doubt you did any damage with a handful of popcorn. Mostly it is a no no once you get to restriction because it can block the stoma. Yes you should stick to liquids, so go back to them and try to follow your dr's instructions to the letter. Move on, you are hardly a failure, and you know that sick feeling you got...remember it when you go to eat stuff you know you shouldn't it will come back and next time you could pb--which in public is not a pretty thing! -
4th of July Challenge!
patsal replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Down just five for the full challenge, those three too tight weeks really messed me up. Oh well, adjusted properly and moving on... -
Since I seem to be one of those slow losers, Im going to set my goal for 15 pounds and hope for the best. I think I have my band adjusted correctly now--too tight set me back 3 weeks! I can't believe there are only 9 weeks of precious summer left before school starts!

I'm in Onederland and Half Way to Goal! Woohoo!!!

Wow, so awesome, good for you!:tt1: -
I have 5.5 in my 10 cc band and I can barely get water down in the am. By about 2 pm I can eat some mushies, but I usually have a PBing episode each time I eat. I am able to consume about 2-3 ounces of food before that happens. The killer is that I am not hungry, so of course I love that. I have put up with it for what will be 4 weeks on Wednesday(normally would have been my appt, but the Dr. is so busy that I had to go 6 weeks out). I'm thinking of calling today because I really am exhausted, not losing weight and frustrated. Since 5 was the place between yellow and green and 5.5 is red, I'm guessing I should have .25 removed, just to tweek it. Is it ok to call the Dr. to try to get in early to have this adjusted, the PBing and exhaustion are really getting to me!?

does my surgeon hear me?
patsal replied to jzh0518's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You sound like you are not at restriction. Go in and talk candidly with your surgeon. In order to lose weight you need good restriction. you should be losing one to two pounds per week. Keep count of your protein grams as well. Be sure they are at least 60. As far as being ready to have a baby now, I'd personally wait until the weight comes off--my surgeon made me sign off that I would not attempt to get preggers until I was at least 2 years out from banding--not an issue for me cause no way I want to be ever again! If your surgeon does not listen to you I would try to change doctors. At one pound a week you should be down 32 pounds, so you are not that awfully far off. Are you following a low fat, low carb diet, that is high in protein? Are you exercising even if it is only walking every day? These are all keys to your success. -
Thinking about a small unfill
patsal replied to patsal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From what I was told when I went in if you cannot proceed to solid foods and keep them down in 4-8 ounce portions than you are too full. If you are too restriced to get down all the necessary Protein than you are too full. If even liquids are givng you slimeing and soft foods do as well than you need an unfill. Good luck! -
Thinking about a small unfill
patsal replied to patsal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my slight unfill today. They took out .25 cc and had me go try a cup of water...it went down so nice and easy. The nurse said to try a shake and then if that gave me no issues I could take off. All went very well and I was even able to eat mushies tonight with no issues. Tomorrow I will try solids. Thanks to all of you who helped me to feel comfortable calling the dr. to ask for help. They said to keep my next appt. in 3 weeks in case I need further adjustment. My fills will remain very small until I get to my sweet spot, if I am not there now (she said they will keep splitting the difference between what was too full and what they gave me so .25 came out, if I need a fill .12 will go in and work from there until I am in a good place) -
Have you been keeping your fat clothing?
patsal replied to LapNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Haha, my diva daughter keeps yelling at me to put on pants that fit...except for the fact that I am now in size 16 and these are 20's I do not see the problem!:lol:Bought a suit for DS's graduation, when I put it on, 2 sizes too big...too bad I wore it anyway:tt2:as I didn't have time to reshop that day! I cleaned out most of the 26's except one pair of pants for the same reasons as Betsy. 24's all gone, 22's all gone, 20's some gone, but some I can't seem to part with, 18's some gone, some I can't part with yet. 16's starting to get baggy will part with asap as I dont have many of those, same goes for 14 and lower. I think that is why I hold on to the bigger sizes, I'm afraid there will be an immediate need for black dress pants and I will not have anything to wear!:scared2: -
Congratulations, it is a strange and unsettling feeling to leave the clothing stores we have shopped at for so very long. The switch from CJ Banks to Christoper Banks was really odd for me! Leaving Lane Bryant for NY and Co was also odd. Coldwater creek goes form tiny to large sizes so I guess I never have to give them up!

Thinking about a small unfill
patsal replied to patsal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks, I just called and they are going to squeeze me in at 11 tomorrow. I pretty much figure I should not be PBing on baby spoons of yogurt! I thought I could tough it out, but after reading about the majority of problems stemming from too tight bands I figured I shouldn't wait. My protein has been low so I went back to unflavored protein powder mixed with water and crystal light. Vacation is a month away and I really do not want to be spending the time I would ordinarily spend eating looking at the lovely restrooms! I'll update after the outcome of my appt. tomorrow. -
The "Red Zone" Sucks!
patsal replied to kelsey94568's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I, too am wandering around in the "red zone". Final exams and all that grading made it impossible for me to do anything about it for the past two weeks. If things are still miserable next week I am going to call and go in to get .25 taken out. I know I was in the place between green and yellow before the fill of .5, but now I am not able to get anything but liquids down until late afternoon. Then I can get tiny bites down. I am not getting enough calories and I am not losing any weight. I caught myself making some bad choices last week and reigned it in, but the whole stuck thing is not working for me! At least I am not ever feeling hungry! -

Not down any, but at least I'm not up any either! Maybe next week I'll see something! -
I am so deeply sad and frustrated...
patsal replied to msdv's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Great! I know it was hard work, but when you look back it will have been so worth it! I'm glad it worked out for you. -
Ok now I am freaking myself out--maybe it is because I finally get to officially say bye-bye to Jenny Craig--three years and no real weight loss, just lose/gain/gain more/lose a bit....Now they want to know what I am doing to have lost 25 and kept it off--told them South Beach, they still keep pestering me to come in... Anyway, what if I get banded and I still do not lose weight? What if I eat these tiny portions and nothing happens, or worse, what if I get it done and still gain weight? I mean could this happen if I follow it to the letter? I have been following South Beach--dr. recomended--and except for a holiday deviation (damn me for succumbing to the cookies) I have been on a nice downward move, so I know I can follow what I am told. I am just worried, I guess....

how much can u eat now???
patsal replied to dowhatitdo1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I kind of don't know why you would need another fill. Know your zone, sounds to me like you are green spilling over into red. Since my last fill I can barely get food down in the am--I mix Protein powder because I am that tight. By lunch and dinner I can get food down so long as I follow all of the rules. I have not felt hungry between meals and feel like I am at a good place. My next appointment is in 4 weeks, at this point I do not plan on getting a fill. -
Wow, you are making excellent progress. What a great way to look back and see immediate feedback on your progress.

What if this doesn't work either?
patsal replied to patsal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gosh this was my first post way back in January. I can say to all of you, thanks for easing my worries! My wonderful tool is working like it should be, still needs a bit of tweeking, but I am losing steadily about a pound or two per week. Closer to the pound, but so long as it goes away I dont' care! It has been work, but oh so much easier since I am not feeling hungry. I do battle the head hunger, but I win out about 98% of the time! Today is a birthday party for my youngest DD. I had a fill on Wednesday so I am still on liquids and maybe mushies if I can tolerate them today. The best part--I don't even care about the food. I am not hungry and the old stuff I used to eat really no longer appeals to me. Next challenge Disney World...My guess is with all that walking I'll be fine, and since my tastes have changed I am not worried about eating things that are over the top in calories! -
Not sure if I need another fill, but not losing weight
patsal replied to patsal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, it was decided that I am at that place between yellow and green, but not quite green yet, so a small fill of .5 cc. Liquids are staying down with small sips and I am feeling pretty good. We shall see what tomorrow brings. I guess I am so conditioned from my other diet days that I should be losing more weight that I was waiting to get scolded for only losing 4 pounds in the last four weeks. It is a very new approach when you are told to keep up the good work instead!
