    Diet Pills during Post-Op?

Being newly banded, the value I find in this forum is the "words of wisdom" from those who have been very successful on the journey we are all facing. I know I felt very prepared for what to expect after surgery. My surgeon and her staff did a great job assuring that I was informed of everything that I might face. Each of us is an individual and our approach, success and challenges with the lap band are personalized. One thing that has been very clear to me is that the time from switching from all liquids, to the first few fills, is known as "band hell" because weight loss is slow and without the proper restriction, we don't have the benefit of feeling satisfied when we eat.
  2. I didn't like the thought, with a bypass, of re-routing my intestines. I like the fact that *IF* something bad happens to me, this CAN be reversed.

    Heartburn

Hi, I am new to all this, as having only been banded two weeks ago. However, my surgeon and her staff have always said, if you have heartburn like you describe....to call because it is not the way it should be.....it sounds, from what I have read here, that you may need an unfill. Jackie
  4. Hi, I am only recently banded (10/27). I don't have any sensation of restriction. Should I? I haven't pushed it.....I eat a measured amount of food and stop when it is gone or I feel full. I haven't tried to eat more than what I have weighed/measured. So far, there aren't any foods I can't eat. I don't have my first fill until 11/22 (although I may wait a week after that because it is the holiday week and I will be out of town and don't want to worry about having issues with my first fill.) Most of the time, I feel satisfied when I eat. Now, my "head" may still want me to eat more, but I listen to my body and realize I am not really hungry.
  5. OKay, I am not quite 2 weeks post op. I understand the need for blended foods but I have to tell you, I can't wait to eat something with FLAVOR!! With texture.......anything but a #@!% Protein shake! Sorry....I am not really hungry but I am sick of the monotony of the post op diet. I didn't obsess about food before surgery, but let me tell you, I do now!!! I go to soft foods on Tuesday and I think I have my first 2 days already planned, bite by bite. Thanks for listening to my whine. Jackie

    Time off work?

I was only banded on October 27th. I too thought I would go back to my job on the Monday after. Well...I finally went in for a half day yesterday and had to work from home today. You are correct though, each person is different.

    port pain?

I was banded on October 27th. Now I have had many surgeries and I have to say that the pain at my port was the worst pain I have ever had. It changed from an acute, burning, tearing pain to a more dull pain two days ago. It is now tolerable. I only get the burning pain if I move funny. I am very swollen and bruised at the port site as well. But so far, I love my band....
