Sorry for you. Hard lesson to learn. I hear that alcohol absorbs faster through the smaller stomach. Which also means closer to alcohol posioning (non doctor opinion). Drink plenty of water to help fllush your system. Try eating some low sodium crackers. Hope it helps. Time is the great healer. Best Wishes! -
If it were easy to diet, we wouldn't need the lap band. Hang in there. Get lots of Protein intake. Eases the hunger. Go for food that is high in flavor. The first few days are the hardest. Didn't think I would make it to surgery without eating solids either. I did it and you can too. Each time you think about food do something to distract yourself. Think about children/grandchildren. Most importantly .... stay away from the TV. Seems like every three commercials are about yummy high fat food. The fourth commercial is always about losing all of that weight you gained from eating the advertised yummy high fat food. Remember that the lap band is only a tool. But it is a great tool. Once you get the right fill going you can really get to that Thanksgiving full in a hurry. Below is some information that I use to help: The IDS New whey liquid Protein (Bullet) is what I take each morning that really helps curb my appetite. Tastes a little like flavored medicine, but really worth it. http://www.fitnessfirstusa.com/details.asp?item=2426 The Protein shakes I make are: Progressive Harmonized Protein http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/progressive/harmonizedprotein.html You can get these at the Sunflower Shoppe in Fort Worth. Web site has addresses and maps. http://www.sunflowershoppe.com/index.html

I have found that the knot just behind the breast bone is the warning sign to me that I'm full and had better stop eating before I become miserable. My wife and I (she is not banded - I am) have had great success consuming a liquid Protein bullet in the moring for Breakfast, a Protein shake for lunch and homemade Soups for dinner. We typically have a sugar free popsicle for a night time snack. Because my wife is not banded she needs a little more to maintain that full feeling. She supplements by eating more Soup at lunch, cottage cheese, or Jello pudding cups. I have been good by adding a bannana each day and a few sugar free coffee nips. Each Sunday I cook enough homemade stew and soups for the week. I puree the stews and soups to get the blend I need when I am on full liquid. Stewed meats are easy to consume (but I am careful to hold down the quantity.) The IDS New whey Liquid Protein (Bullet) is what I take each morning that really helps curb my appetite. Web site has addresses and maps. http://www.sunflowershoppe.com/index.html They have on-line coupons (for example 25% off any one item). They are a bit expensive on the IDS bullets, but may be worthwhile if you want to try just a few to be sure you can live with them. The Protein powder at regular price is about the same as ordering by the time you add the shipping. If you use the coupon, it’s cheaper. Just read that on the first Tuesday of each month you get 25% off Vitamins, protein powders, etc. You should try it.

All of this work-out sounds great! Weight loss plateau is normal. One thing to remember is that as you are working out, you are replacing fat with muscle mass. A good thing. However, this also means that your weight loss will go slower. In my prime (now an old timer .. ha ha) I went from 170 to 228. Began working out hard with weights and aerobics. Dropped to 200 lbs. However, my waist was thinner at 34" and 200 lbs than it was at 170 and 42". Muscle mass is more dense than fat mass. Keep up the good work and don't get discouraged. Loss of body fat is much more important than weight. GOOD LUCK TO EACH OF YOU! Banded 19 January 2010. P.S. I won't tell you my sad, sad story of getting old and fat. LOL

Congratulations. I was banded on 19 January. I have been on the liquid diet since 11 January. Rarely get hungry. The secret has been in the whey Protein supplements. They fill you up. Sometimes I have to remind myself to consume the next one. Afternoon Snacks and at night I am eating homemade Soups (creamed of course). God Bless the immersion blender! Best of luck!

I tried the unjury last night. You guys are right .... smells worse than baby formula! Taste can't be much better. I have been using the Progressive Harmonized Protein All chocolate. Much better. Something that is palettable but tastes a little different are the IDS New whey liquid Protein Bullets. 42 grams of protein. No sugar and no carbs. They have a varitey pack that you can order on-line for $29.99 per dozen. Stay away from the orange. Yuck! You can mix these with anything, make a protein smoothie, or drink them straight. The good news is that they don't have to be refrigerated therefore you can take them with you easily. I have been drinking them straight in the mornings to get my day started. They have the new ACAI flavor that I just ordered. Trust me, I'm not a salesman. I tried various things when I was going through the diet process. These are the things I have found to work best for me. GOOD LUCK! -
Help--boss announces to whole staff about surgery

I'm thinking that you should ignore the negatives and think positive (you can't take it back anyway). Now everyone knows and can be in your support group. Next meeting confirm it and ask for their support and prayers. I bet you will be surprised! My daughter is a teacher also. They have many food days. Maybe this will help them support you during those days. If nothing else, there will be a few good ones that will pray for you and support you along the road to success!
