    Indiana Anyone?

Hi all! I am in Indy and I'm also with Dr Evanson. I just got my testing date, too! It's May 27th! Any idea how long it takes to get a surgery date after testing? I'm really hoping for late June. Kim
  2. I feel like the wait just flew by! I am so excited to get this journey started. Wish me luck!
  3. I joined this forum about three years ago when I first started the lap band process. I chickened out of doing the surgery. So, here I am again, 10 pounds heavier. My diabetes is worse, as us my cholesterol and blood pressure. No chickening out this time. My consultation is September 16! I'm so excited!
  4. Hi all, I don't have an exact date, yet, but I know August if the big month! Is there anyone else here scheduled for August? I'd love to share experiences!
  5. My dietition has required that I take 1000 mg of Calcium citrate a day before surgery. These are giant horse pills that I can barely get down! I seriously gag! Calcium caltrate turns out to be what I've always taken - Viactive. What's the difference? Anyone else have trouble stomaching the giant Citrical pills?
  6. I'm curious...what happened? If you don't mind sharing...I have just started my 6 month dr supervised diet, and am really afraid of being told no after months of anticipation.
  7. I'm on the six month diet, as well. It's horrible. I've done low carb and no carb diets in the past, but for some reason, this one is just so difficult for me to maintain! I don't have an exact date, yet, but I'm hoping for around the first week of August. I teach, and that will be the end of my summer vacation. I'm hoping to have the last two weeks before school starts to recover. What are finding to be the hardest part of the diet? For me - it's no sweets or snack foods. I know I need to kill those cravings before surgery, but I'm finding it a real struggle!
  8. Hellluuuuuuur!

YAAAAYYY! That is awesome! I am so happy for you! When do you get a date?

    Wow!

Thanks for the encouragement! The first day on the liver-reduction diet was HARD! I craved carbs all day, but I did well at work. When I got home, though, all bets were off. I struggled and ended up eating Cereal. I think carbs work like a drug on us...I really feel like I was going through some kind of withdrawl. I was SO cranky! Yesterday went much better, I managed to keep the cravings at bay most of the night. When it got bad, I went to bed. Praying for an even better day today.

    Wow!

Ok, today I met with my surgeon and dietition for the first time! I am so excited to start, but I'm always a little scared of the liver-reduction diet. OMG...I've done South Beach in the past, but this is No, No, NO carbs. It's going to be a struggle, but I'm so ready! My doc wants me to drop 20 pounds before my surgery. My insurance company is insisting on a six month Dr. supervised diet. Happy to join this great community! BTW, are there any August bandsters here? I haven't found a separate thread. Kim
  13. This diet is extreme! It's a lot like the South Beach diet - no carbs at all. The only ones I get are what's already in dairy foods and in veggies.

So, I can have all of the protein I want, except bacon and sausage.

I can only have skim or 1% milk. I can have a 6 oz yogurt - with no fruit pieces in it.

I can have most veggies, except: corn, potatoes, peas, olives, or avacadoes.

Let's see...no snack foods at all! Unless it is sugar free jello or cheese.

No bread, pasta, cereal, or rice.

GIRL...like I said, it's a mess. And I am HUNGRY. Yesterday, I did pretty well, until I got home from work. I was moody because I was hungry. I ended up eating a bowl of cereal to chill out. So day one was almost successful. Hopefully, I can pull it together today.

  14. Hey BabyDiva,

Thanks for the friendship add! I have just started my liver-reduction diet. OH My GOODNESS! It's going to be a challenge, but I cannot wait to move forward.

I wish you all the best!

  15. Oh I wish things could move that quickly for me! I am required to do a six month Dr. supervised diet. My insurance insists.
  16. That is AWESOME! I have my first surgeon consultation tomorrow afternoon. I am so excited!
  17. Hello all, I haven't posted before, but I have read A LOT! What a great supportive bunch! Anyway, I am in the very beginning of my banding journey. I have had my seminar, and am meeting with my surgeon on Feb. 3rd. I am really nervous! I'm not nervous at all about the meeting, but nervous about insurance. In 2008, I started this same process - when I went to meet with the surgeon, someone in insurance called me in to tell me that my insurance calls my weight a pre-existing condition, and I would have to wait six months and try again. I was so discouraged that I didn't return until Jan. 14 of THIS YEAR. So, much has changed since then, now. I'm type 2 diabetic and have high blood pressure. I didn't have either of those at the time of my failed consult. :smile2: I am just scared that Sagamore (my insurer) is going to find another reason to block this for me. Do any of you have Sagamore? What was their process like? Also, what can I expect at the consult? Thanks for letting me vent my frustration! Kim
  18. Somebody upstairs must have been listening to my worries today. About an hour after I posted, the doctor's office called me. She told me that they spoke with insurance and they said they'll pay - after I meet the usual requirements... six month medically supervised diet (which my Drs office does anyway) and five years of recorded weight in medical records. So I should be fine! BTW, my BMI is 44.
