Hello Everyone!Well, my story is a little different.  I began the lapband journey in 2008.  I attended the seminar and went through 6 months of nutritional counseling and exercise physiology meetings at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, VA.  After the completion of the program and doing everything that was asked of me, my insurance denied my claim.  I was pretty devastated!  I was angry and felt that the people in charge of the program should have known that I would be denied instead of having me go through that six months, dozens of co-pays, etc.  However, a year later I now see that it was a blessing in disguise.  The program "shut down" at MWH, so the physicians are no longer there for continuing care and those patients who received their surgery had to find alternate physicians for continuing care.  This past November, I decided to give it another try with a different Bariatric surgeon in Woodbridge, VA.  I tried not to get my hopes up too high, fearing the same outcome as before.  This time, the experience I had was totally different and most wonderful.  The office staff determined I was a candidate for the surgery and that my surgery would be paid!  I brought my previous medical records from MWH and they accepted all the information and did not require me to repeat the six months nutrition/exercise counseling.  Over the past two months, things have progressed at a whirlwind pace and my surgery is now one week away!  Unbelievable!I am experiencing so many emotions as the countdown is on.  I'm excited, nervous, anxious, (you name it!) but I am ready to start my new life.  I am also very grateful that everything happened the way it did.  I love the physician I have seen, love the practice, and all the people who I am dealing with.  Wish me luck!
