4th fill yesterday, cant keep water down
BobKat replied to wiley2jj's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am also just getting off a headcold with some nasty post nasal drip and while I can drink anything, I am getting stuck on almost any I eat even if I chew it real well, I know I do not want ot stay this way for long so I am calling my doctor to get some out. I think if you can't keep anything down that is a problem you should see your doctor. I hope all goes well -
Hello everyone, I will be going for my first fill tomorrow and I am a little nervous. I haven't lost any weight since surgery on April 29th I did lose 18lbs pre surgery and I haven't gained that back. I do need a fill as I am more and more hungry and can eat way too much. I will let you all know how it goes. Talk to you soon Kathy
-
Well for starters I don't actually feel any different, but eating has changed I cannot eat some of the things I could before the fill so I am back to my learning stag. I can get fluids down no problem, I have been eating with my fingers to make sure I don't put anything to big in my mouth just becaue that is my biggest issue. I am losing weight I am at about 21 libs since I went on my pre op so this fill has kick started me again.

Well first fill went good not sure how much, but I do know not a lot and I am okay with that. I am very aware that this is a process so I am not expecting anything out of the ordinary.

April Bandsters - How are you doing?
BobKat replied to BusyMom1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on April 29th and I have lost a total of 16 lbs and none of that was after surgery, I haven't gained anything and I can eat but no as much as before, but too much so I get my first fill on the 14th and I am hoping that gets the scale moving again. I am not discouraged, about the slow loss only because I am not gaining. I feel good and am starting to exercise. -
Yes I itched like crazy I am at 2 weeks and finally feeling a lot less itchy Kathy

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
BobKat replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello lets see I am 48 will be 49 in Oct have three kids and 1 grandson will be married for 19 years and I have been overweight for the last 19 years of my marriage. I gained 60lbs on top of an already overweight body. I did quit smoking 22 years ago and the weight I am sorry to say started with that. I decided to take the plunged because I have an aunt who is very diabetic and due to being overweight and it just so happens to be on the side of the family who I am built like. I am looking forward to being able to turn the switch off. That will be the key to my success. Anyhow that is a little about me. -

I have been officially banded on the 29th other than some discomfort I feel pretty good. -
I am scheduled for April 29th and boy am I having crazy thoughts one minute I am up the next minute I am down but overall I am a go ahead. I know this will not solve my problems but it makes facing them a whole lot easier. Just knowing I have support walking around with me gives me comfort. Anyhow I will touch base once it is over. I know the feeling, I cheated everyday for example I had a bowl of Soup that had a little bit of veggies in it. I had a V8 I had some salad, also coleslaw, no sugar no bread, I have lost about 12 lbs so I am doing my job as far as weight loss goes. It isn't even that I am hungry I just can't stand this taste in my mouth. So try and focus on the positive and what you can have. I know it is very hard. Good luck Kathy

Horrified at Australian surgeon
BobKat replied to leftover_eidoes's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello, Just wanted to let you know that I just meet the criteria at 37 BMI and was feeling a little guilty. But after sometime and thought knew that this would be my only hope from getting an even higher BMI. I just want the energy and not only that I want to at least get in pictures with my family. I do have some issues I do have an arthric back I have had to take shots for it. So this would have only gotten worse. Katht -
Help! Having MAJOR second thoughts....
BobKat replied to Tracytma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello Tracy, I am right there with you I keep saying do I want to do this or should I give it one more try. I hate the thought of constantly obsessing over my food choices and weight, I like the thought of the band being my inner friend who reminds me to make better choices. I am the same age as you and it is hard for me to loose weight plus I find it even harder to stay motivated because of that. So I am letting my doubts and fears work their way around and in the end if I feel I would rather not do it than I will say so, but talk and pray that should help. Kathy -
Just stopping by with updates Tomorrow I go to see the Nutritionist pysch surgeon and if all goes well pre op I will have an upper endoscopy on Thursday my Gastro wants to look inside and measure my Hiatal Hernia, as you know the surgeon told me from get go that he will not band me with a hernia, he didn't say if it was a certian size just that he wouldn't band me. I will let my Grasto doctor make that call if says that the hernia is too big and in a bad spot that no surgery for me if says it can be repaired than he will direct me he knows another surgreon. Anyhow fingers crossed that I am at least healthy and with any good fortune I will have surgery on the 29th I will keep you posted Kathy

Hello Bandsters and Soon to be Bandsters, I am getting ready for this month with a little apprehension and hope. I am comming upon the last of my pre op visits. I just had to get a B12 shot because that was a little low and I also need to take Calcium and Vit D. Anyhow they only thing left is the psych and nutritionist. I then go see the surgeon to see if he will give me the lab band because I do have a moderate hiatal hernia, no erosion or barrets so hoping that will get him to band me. I read all these posts and get some great encouragement from them so hopfully I will be able to actually be a banded bunny and I too than can give some encouargement. My surgery is scheduled for the 29th of April so fingers crossed... 1/20/10 orientation 2/1/10 consultation 3/8/10 Blood work 3/16/10 Radiology, Chest Xray, Upper Gi, Echo,Pulmunary,DVT Cleared by Cardiologist 3/26/10 Follow up with Pulmunary doctor and cleared by him 3/31/10 PCP for B12 will have them weekly for 4 weeks check right before surgery. 4/7/10 Teaching Class, my Gastro 4/14/10 Nutritionist, Psych, Consult with Surgeon, and Pre Op testing. Start liquid 2 week diet...... Kathy

I have a question, I am suppose to get banded on the 29th of April, however I have a moderate hiatal hernia now when I first talked to the surgeon before my EDG I wasn't sure how large it was, but I now know it is moderate. I have no erosion or barretts so I am hoping that I can be banded, but my gut feeling is he is going to try and sell me on bypass. I will see my own gastro before hand so that I an know before hand what he thinks. My question to you is, is this a really big problem and do you know if there is any hope that someone may want to repair my hernia and give me a band. I am getting a little down and need some reassuring. Thanks

Hello everyone, I got a date of April 29th, I will be going for all my testing on the 16th of March. I do have a question, my doctor told me if I have a hiatal hernia, he will not band me. Why wouldn't a doctor fix the hernia oppose to the more drastic bypass surgery that he requested I get. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
