Noob here! Banded yesterday!
ToddNYG replied to TinaMay's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
congrats, and if your recovery goes anything like mine the gas pain in your shoulder will be the worst of it. Best of luck on your new journey -
my first fill I felt the needle a little bit then a week later I was expecting the same little pin prick and felt nothing. So I guess I just got used to it or perhaps they were more gentle the second time, lol

Hi everyone, I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself to the boards. I have been reading these boards and your stories for the better part of the morning and I just can't believe how much has reminded me of myself and my own experiences. So I look forward to continue reading and talking you all as we all take this amazing journey together.

I am down about 48lbs total, but that includes the liquid diet pre-surgery. Since my surgery I have lost a little over 20. I have not been back on a scale since my fill last Thursday because I was driving myself crazy using too many different scales. So I plan on just behaving myself and weighing in at the doctor's each month and see where I'm at. Happy belated Bday by the way, I'm Jan 5th!

I started with none, then my first fill was 4cc's which as I said was not enough. Then I had 2 more cc's put in and I am at a total of 6 now. I feel some restriction but propbably still not enough. I go back on Feb 2nd so perhaps by then I will be ready for another little fill. Very hard trying to figure out where I am supposed to be.

I had my first fill right after Christmas and didnt really feel any difference so went back a week later and some more put in. Did you have any put in right after surgery? I know some doctors do and some dont.

In one week I have lost 10 lbs. Is that average? I lost 11.5, and from what I've read yes it is pretty average Which are the best vitamins to take and what dosage? I order mine from Bariatric Advantage online. they have chewables specifically for Lap Band What are the best supplements (calcium citrate or the other, etc) Not sure about this one Best chocolate protein drinks or powder without chalky taste? Like someone else said I am not a chocolate fan, but I do drinkk both Muscle Milk and Carnation Essentials Vanilla (usually as my breakfast) Best tasting clear liquids protein drinks? again not really sure Any lotions or tricks to prevent saggy skin? not sure about lotions but I'm hoping the treadmill will help tighten everything up When will I feel normal again? I had surgery on a Wed. and was back to work by Monday. the only pain I had was in my shoulder from the gas used during surgery. Any good blogs or website that could be helpful now that I have the band? This website is the best one I have read so far, so many people that have either gone through or are currently going through the same things as you Any other good tip you think I should know? Stay postive, don't regret you decision. It will be a long wonderful journey to a happy healthy future!!!

Do you work on on your fill days?
ToddNYG replied to mominkansas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I usually lean towards cardio and will do legs on the days I've had a fill. Not sure if anyone told me that or just the voices in my head hahaha. -
I was banded on Nov 18th, a week before Thanksgiving (talk about a test hahaha)

Thank you and yes I have noticed how informative everyone is. It helps to hear it from people that have actually lived through it as opposed to the doctor and staff.

Where is the beloved "Sweet Spot"
ToddNYG replied to HappyMe2009's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This thread has been very helpful and I thank you all. I had my surgery in Nov '09 and had my first fill on Dec 29th. They put in 4 cc's, I felt nothing different so went back the next week and got 2 more cc's put in and now at a total of 6 cc's. I am beginning to feel some restriction but have not seen the weight loss I had hoped for. But listening to all of you has taught me to be patient and remain positive.
