  1. Ok so ladies, I am having a mind blowing day, I am a single mom of 2 kids, with a menial job which I do ok at but my boss is a real jerk and doesn't give out yearly raises so I haven't had one in 6 years now, he normally gives out bonuses and didn't this year, and so I am just financially strapped with everything else I have been through this year. I am getting ready to start my 2 week pre-op diet next week on Wednesday the 5th and my surgery is scheduled for the 19th, I am stressing out today because the pre-op diet that my doctor requires us to use and we buy from his office costs $230.00, I have so much going on right now, and I just want to feel ok, but I don't. Then I am just like can't the 19th get here already? I just want all this to happen so fast and now that I have a date for my surgery it feels like everyday is dragging along like it's never going to come. I am sick of feeling so low of myself. Does anyone else feel this way and if you have any advice for me please send it my way as I am sick of being stressed out!!!

I will be going next week to do the final stages of pre-op stuff, getting all my hospital stuff done, and getting my pre-surgery diet stuff. I will do the pre-surgery 2 week diet liquids only from the 5th to surgery date, and I will be all set to go. I can't wait. I have my support in place for when I have the surgery and when I am get done. I will be able to finally feel like the me I want to be. I am so tired of feeling like I do, and feeling like I can't do the things I want to do because I am to heavy and my body doesn't work right? I am going to do everything right and follow all my diet rules and do whatever I have to to keep up with my protein. I love myself, and I want to just be happy now!!! So thankful for this website for helping me to stay strong with this seeing the people post pictures and posts and reading everything has helped me tremendously!!! I am looking forward to passing that on and helping others with my pictures. Thanks and Good luck to you all!!!

    Getting impatient

    luckyinluv, thats great you have 3 different people you can talk to for help!!! That is why I am so grateful for this site but I wish I knew someone close to me that had it done, but I am sure I will be fine. As for the lapband, mine didn't slip it got way to tight and wouldn't loosen when he filled it, I was vomiting everything including liquids? I couldn't even drink a glass of Water without eating and I would vomit? It was awful!!! So do you know how long after your friends and moms surgery that they started noticing the weight coming off?

    $ & Emotional Stress?

    I think it's totally normal. Even tho u had the lap band u know RNY has a little bit more to it and is going to change life a lot. I was so scared and right up until the time they were wheeling me in I was like wtf am I doing? There are a lot of people who have these same feeling I just don't want u to feel u are alone and u are at the best place to vent and share. As for the boss...jackasses will always be jackasses! happy hump day!!!

    $ & Emotional Stress?

    thanks ajustice, I am a bundle of anxiety right now, and I am like why am I having all this going through my head, I had the lapband surgery already so I know pretty much what to expect, I am just anxious to get it done? I want to feel better about myself, and move forward with my new life and let go of my old. I just let so much get to me and I shouldn't. Thanks for the kind words and I will have to try what you have. I would love to go out walking but it is freezing outside and I really hate the cold, so I don't know if I will get to that today or in the next few days being in the low 20's and windy as heck out, I don't want to freeze, lol. As for the warm bath, that sounds like a great idea, I might just do that tonight, and soak!!! Thanks again!!!

    Getting impatient

    LOL, I know what you mean, I am feeling the exact same way. Today I just want to go home and crawl back into bed and cry? I am feeling really ugh today???? I am anxious to get this started cause I hate being the way I am and so many times I have tried to change but it doesn't seem to do anything but add more weight? Then everything going on in my regular life it's like I can't get anywhere. Then of course I live in Massachusetts and it is freezing here, and there is so much snow, and I am so sick of it I could take a hose and hot Water and just flush it all away but then I would have Ice??? I want to get out in the sun and the heat and soak in some Vitamin D instead of being stuck inside all the time??? I hate it!!! Have you tried to call your insurance company and ask them why it's taking so long? I have BCBS and I got my approval in a week? That doesn't seem right a month?

    Getting impatient

    Believe me I know depression. I take depression meds cause otherwise I would be crying everyday all day??? I don't know why, just stress I think due to all the stuff in my life that seems to go wrong, but with my meds I am stable? Maybe talk to your doctor about that? That stinks you had to turn down the job??? How long have you been waiting on your insurance to get it together? I hope that it all gets better!!!

    emotional wreck

    Hi stasea, I am sorry to hear about the job and the car, that stinks, I feel ya though, I am the exact same way if I don't take my depression meds. I take them every morning and believe me they help. I take cymbalta, and if I forget it I know it. I start to cry for no reason and just am a total wreck for the day. There is nothing wrong with taking a depression med or mood stabilizer? I know a lot of people who take them and you know with all the changes your body is making right now that might be the reason. Best suggestion is talk to your doctor???

    Getting impatient

    Hi Jess805, Sorry to hear about your friend, and also sorry to hear about the problems with the band. I too had the band too and had many issues with it that I had to have it removed and that was back in 2011 and since I hadn't done anything. I thought well I had that in me and made me realize how much I needed and wanted to loose the weight and I tried and tried on my own and nothing happen except for more weight piled on? So I decided I need to get the bypass also, and I am now approved to get it and my surgery is set for 3/19. I am super excited to get it done, but I am so anxious to have results and anxious to get it done I am driving myself nuts, and I am getting depressed which I am already but it seems worse???? I know it can be stressful going through this process but don't let yourself get down on yourself, just keep pushing and you will get there!!! That is what I have to tell myself everyday!!! Good luck and keep us posted!!!

    loose skin

    hi need to slim, first I have to say this you have to do your pre-op for 5 WEEKS??? Holy moley!!! I have to do it for 2 and I have heard of some that just do it for a day and not even at all??? Wow, I am in shock. So anyway to get to your question. It all depends on the person, if your skin still has the elasticity still there it will go back better, but if you've stretched it out so much that you will have a lot, a lot??? Then I suggest doing weight training and exercise as much as you can, cause that will help with the skin tightening. Unfortunately no matter what we are all going to have saggy skin cause of the rapid pace at which the bypass helps you loose that weight. I am just thankful my insurance will allow me the skin removal surgery after the fact. So one day at a time though!!!

    Suprised

    LOL, Sorry to hear about your nipples!!! My doc never said anything to me about going home with a drain either, and believe me tells me everything that is going to happen cause I ask a million questions. So all this is a surprise to me? My surgery is 3/19 so I don't know what it's going to feel like, but when did you have your surgery, and let me ask you this after your surgery how long did it take for you to notice that you were loosing weight?

    Pain?

    Deb, I am sorry to hear you had to go through alot of pain from it!!! I have had 2 children also and one was a c-section, and the other was a natural delivery but I had major problems with that delivery and both times I was up and walking around 6 hours after my deliveries. I slept and got right up? The same with my lapband surgery, as soon as I was done and they woke me up and let me sit up I was up and at em? I am however 36 not in my 50's but I am in hopes that I don't have any major pain from this because of my past surgeries? I hope you feel better!!! Good luck on your journey!!!

    March surgery

    Most patients will have a small tube to allow drainage of any accumulated fluids from the abdomen. This is a safety measure, and it is usually removed a week after the surgery. Generally, a drain is a minor discomfort.....my date is March 17th Oh huh???? My doc never said anything about that??? Whatever I don't care, I just want this to get going so I can start loosing weight!!!

    March surgery

    a drain? What for? My surgeon didn't say anything like that and also everyone I have talked to never mentioned that? So when are you going in for the surgery?
  17. Hi greatwhite067, I have to say that is the reason I haven't told anyone really except like 3 or 4 and only those I knew would support me!!!! I for one agree with your aunt she is right you have to do what's right for you not anyone else!!! Your not doing the surgery for anyone else!!! Also about your partner and her situation, that is her own insecurities in herself and how she handled it, talk to her about how you feel and let her know hey if you can't trust me then our relationship isn't going to last anyway??? My boyfriend is my biggest supporter!!! He isn't worried about that just wants me healthy and happy!!!! Well good luck and hope everything works out for you!!!

    Pain?

    I haven't had my new surgery yet but I did have the lapband surgery and had it removed and the only pain I had was from the gas when they fill your belly with air, the gas pains was the worst for me, and that wasn't even that bad? I am getting some of those gas strips before I go in for my surgery so I have them handy when I get home and right after the surgery. I also never used any pain meds after my first surgery? Well good luck!!!

    March surgery

    Hello vonvon, it all depends on your insurance how long it takes for the approval. I have Blue cross blue shield, and it too about a week and a half. Also depends on what they need from the doctor. My doc doesn't send anything in till after I had all my appt's. So best suggestion is to ask your doctor, or call your insurance?

    March surgery

    Hi Karrilunney, Preop diet for me is 2 weeks liquid diet? I don't know if every doctor does it, mine does, its to help shrink your stomach and shrink the surrounding organs to help them get in their easier. They do it so that it's easier to maneuver in there. When is your surgery? The liquid diet at first is frightening but it ends up being really easy to do, my doctor gives me metagenics products it's all those Protein shakes and they give you Fiber to not bind up. I don't mind it much I have already done it once for lapband surgery. I am of course now going for the bypass. So I don't know maybe ask your doctor if you still have time? Good luck with your surgery!!!
  23. Mellie May, my surgery is March 19th, I start my pre-op diet next week on the 5th, I am really excited. This is my second surgery, as I had the lapband done and it didn't work for me, I had many problems with it, and had to have it removed. I am now going for the Bypass, I am skipping right over the sleeve and going to the final surgery. I really am excited to get this journey started and get my weight under control. I have been a heavy all my life, and I am finally ready to get to a healthy weight. I have many medical issues that prevent me from loosing weight and exercising with all this weight so i feel that this is it for me. I am putting all myself into this!!! I am very happy I have a place like this to go to when I have questions and or need just a little push of support from people who have gone through it all. Thanks and I will keep you posted.

    March surgery

    Im having Bypass on the 19th, i start my pro-op diet next week on the 5th, super excited!!!
  25. Hi Mellie May, I haven't told anyone but My Boyfriend and our best friend. I am not telling anyone till I feel ready. It won't be till after I have my surgery I know that, but I just want to show people that I can do that, and if they judge me that's their issue, I don't care what everyone else things as I am not doing this for everyone else, I am doing this for me, and my kids. I want to be around for my kids for a long time and at the rate I am going I won't be, so I need to do something now so I can be here. I love that I can just tell my story and show myself here because there are people here that know what I am going through, and there is support here, so I am telling everyone on here. I wish you good luck in your journey, and I support you!!!!
