Thanks longroad34, I am excited for you too!!! My mom had an old dress from a time when I had lost a lot of weight, but that's cause I stopped eating for a year. I won't be doing that again. So I got this dress and it was a time that I liked how I looked and felt, and I hung it up in my bedroom so i can see it every morning when I get moving for the day and it's a reminder of where I want to be with all this. I look forward to wednesday and there after. Please keep me posted how you do.

2nd Opinion Appointment Today
pupichupi replied to Sue Magoo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sue, don't cry, don't be disappointed you know what I don't feel one surgery is better than the other, but the bypass is still a good option for a surgery. I am having the bypass by choice my doctor was trying to get me to do the sleeve but I don't want that, I want the bypass, because I know my self and I have been following a topic about self sabotage, and I would sabotage myself knowing if I do the sleeve there is still one more surgery to go to, so that is why I chose the last option and I can't do no more after that, so this is it for me, I have to loose the weight, I know it's tough, is there any other doctors around your area that will do the any of the surgeries? I am sorry it didn't go well, but stay strong and weigh your options and when you figure out what YOU want then you stick with it, and if they can't do the sleeve because of some issues, maybe just take that as a sign, and have the bypass? We are all here for you!!! Good Luck!!! -

Leepers, do you have anything that you so desperately want to fit in after all this is over? Like a goal outfit? I have one and I am getting it from my mom before I have my surgery, it's from a LONG time ago, but she still has it for me, just in case? I loved it it was the one and only time I lost weight and I was 21 and I just stopped eatting for a year? I will never do that again!!! I couldn't anyway I love food too much!!! lol? But it's a beautiful straight forest green crushed velvet gown, I never went to my prom in high school I was too fat for a pretty dress, and so when I lost that weight I bought this and only wore it one time to a Christmas party for the job I did at the time and I felt so beautiful. I have never felt as beautiful as I did that night, and I want to fit into that again. I was 150 lbs when I wore that gown, and I don't care if its something I will never wear I just want to fit in it and look good too!!! Maybe get something like that and hang it up in your room where you will see it everyday and it will be your reminder that the Pasta and donuts aren't going to get you into that outfit? Good luck!!! -

Hey girls, I am the same way, I haven't had my surgery yet but this is a great thing to bring up prior so I don't do anything to sabotage my future, I was actually looking up books right before I saw your post about bariatric surgery and how to be successful and I found a book that may interest you. It's called get out of your own way by Dr Mark Goulston. I am going to download it on my kindle for when I go to the hospital and I can read it while I wait and for after surgery!!! Well good luck with hitting that 50+ mark, I know you can do it!!! -
missyhogan, what surgery did you have? Don't forget your stomach is still swollen and you have to give it time. Make sure your getting in your protein!!! That's all that matters at this point. You will get there!!!
-
6 more days, I am seriously doing this count down. I can not wait!!!
-
Hi Moni_0330 I as well am anxious, not so much nervous, but I think that's because I had the lapband prior to this so I pretty much know the way it goes, I might get nervous that day, but we will see. I am just really excited!!! lol, Well good luck to you too, keep me posted how your doing!!!
-
I originally came to the information seminar with the intention of getting the lap band. So glad I'm opting for the sleeve. Cant wait to see your progress. Dont forget to post pics!!
-
Moni, I definitely will as I love seeing others pictures so I am definitely going to post to show success to others who are starting out like me. I actually had the band, and I am going bypass, cause I know I am very self destructive, and if I know I can get the sleeve now and still have one more surgery to go to bypass I will do something to sabotage myself??? So going straight to the last resort. LOL

How to tell your friends and family that you are having WLS surgery
pupichupi replied to Mellie May's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nellarifixmom, I am so glad that he is going with you, that will be good for both of you for him to get all the info. That is what I did, my boyfriend went to my first appt., cause he had a lot of concerns and questions too, specially about which surgery I should do, cause I wasn't sure if I wanted the bypass or the sleeve, and ultimately I decided that the bypass was best for me. It made him feel much more at ease about me getting the surgery too. Good luck and keep us posted!!! -
How to tell your friends and family that you are having WLS surgery
pupichupi replied to Mellie May's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a 17 year old daughter who lost 65 pounds over the last 15 months doing weight watchers. I started out with her but I was not successful. After failing at WW again, and Ideal Protein, I gave up. When I first mentioned the WLS her reaction was not great. In her mind, if she can lose weight then I should be able to as well. But once she realized that she exercises and always has despite being very heavy, and I can't exercise at this point, it made more sense to her. And she's realizes how much she will benefit from having less food around too. (I can't begin to express how proud I am of her. She wore a size 16 prom dress last April and is trying on 8/10 this year. She's done a good job of maintaining a teenage social life but makes better choices when she's out with her friends.) My hubby and I have been talking about who I will tell and who I won't. The out-laws (aka my in-laws) will never be told. My family is ok as my mom had hers done 9 years ago. My dad will be worried, but I think my cardiac issues really scared him so this is being done to improve that problem. I just don't know how people don't tell people. I mean, once the weight starts to drop and people ask, what do people say? I just don't want to hide. I will probably only tell a few people pre-op. The people closest to me will be fine because they know my medical issues this past year. And others can judge me if they want. It doesn't really matter. Along with my health, I'm working on my unhealthy need to please people. I did tell a co-worker today that my date is 4/15 and she was very nice but obviously caught off guard by it. I only told her because I may need her to cover a class for me. She doesn't know my medical background and is much larger than me. I think that's what caused the shock. Amylife2, that is awesome about your daughter, I did the same thing and couldn't lose it. I know how hard it is, and how great it will be for you specially with all your health issues. You know as I was reading this, you don't have to tell anyone you don't want, and if you start losing the weight and they ask you then you can tell them, but it's no ones business what you do with your life, and that is the reason I am not telling people cause I am not doing this for anyone else, I am doing this for me. Thats just what you have to remember. Screw the rest of them that judge or whatever, and as for the co-worker that you told, maybe you will be an inspiration to her to do something for herself. Obesity isn't a fun thing to live with, I have lived with it for my entire life and I am ready for this more than anything. Good luck and Congrats to your daughter. -
6 weeks out, still eating like stage 1
pupichupi replied to Big Silly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks!!! Good luck to u as well! I have been on a low calorie diet...3 shakes a day plus one meal but I can only have 1000cal a day. I admit, I did break down a few times in two days bit even though I splurged, I still stayed within my calorie limit and of course avoided high fat and carb items but I still feel guilty. That's why I'm worried about my liver. But no matter what I still had my shakes. I'm hoping its not gonna be an issue -

How to tell your friends and family that you are having WLS surgery
pupichupi replied to Mellie May's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nellarifixmom, you are not alone!!! You have a whole website full of people who you can talk to and depend on!!! Most everyone here will help you! Just make sure you tell your doctor everything about what happen during past surgery! Maybe ask your husband if he can go to an appointment with you to meet your surgeon so he can ask questions and you can find out more of his concerns. Having your husbands support is big for your success!!! Good luck!!! -
I know what you mean about your friends not understanding cause all of my friends are thin and always have been and they just think its oh so easy cause the most they ever had to lose was maybe 10lbs??? I'm like be in my shoes!!! Ha they wouldn't know what to do!!! So listen don't stress too much and don't forget when you quit smoking that just makes you wanna eat. It's really difficult so try to get something that you can do to keep your hands busy!! It will help that and spicy or cinnamony candies!!! Well keep it up you can do it!!!

Discouraged with "planning" meals
pupichupi replied to SlowlybutSurely's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I just have to ask ... then what did you eat pre-op? Prepared foods? You say you never will want to cook. What was your plan for your sleeved life? The chicken veggie soup takes only a few minutes and tastes awesome. I just find it hard to believe someone can't go buy a rotisserie chicken, frozen vegetables and broth. The pulled pork is even less time. Buy it at the store, put it in crock pot, drain liquid, add sauce. Pretty much all the recipes I have listed are just that simple. Fry ground turkey, add tomatoes, Beans and spice. Done. Don't think of it as cooking, if that is what has you stuck, think of it as assembling. All the stuff is there at the store, you are merely combining them. There is no magic here and very little effort. For me, taking an active role in my nutrition has been so rewarding. I know it is one of the reasons I have been successful with my sleeved life. I wish you well on your journey. Pdxman, I completely agree, you should have some kind of active role in you nutrition otherwise how do you know what's going into your meal?? I am following your role and cooking every Saturday or Sunday to make my weekly + meals so I know I will be in a good position to lose my weight and keep it off!!! -
My doctor told me I had to quit before my surgery? So I had no choice??? I am doing good though, and I don't want to go back again!!!

pupichupi replied to Big Silly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't worry about it, did you or are you doing a liquid diet right now? Have you followed it? I am doing mine now, for 2 weeks, so I am in a week already and the 19th is my surgery date so I am almost there. I had the band back in 2010 and it didn't work out for me, and I was offered to do the sleeve after they pulled it out, but I wanted nothing to do with it at that point with everything I went through, so I think that is why I am not worried so much, but I will say that was the one thing that made me nervous was the cutting the stomach and reattaching the intestine stuff, but my surgeon is a great guy and he has done so many of them that he can probably do it in his sleep at this point so I am having faith in my doc.!!! You will be fine!!! Just stay positive!!! Good Luck!!! -

Discouraged with "planning" meals
pupichupi replied to SlowlybutSurely's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
PdxMan, Thank you for posting these items, I said the same thing, but man these all sound so good, I think I am going to follow your lead and do the exact same thing with the mason jars, I was going to buy some of those cheap little plastic ones you can get in the dollar store or whatever, and just do it with those, but i bet it's better with the mason jars. So awesome. Again Thanks!!! -
Manaia84, your stressing yourself out, first off what did your doctor give you for a 2 week diet? I was told to drink 2 shakes and they gave me a power bar for the other meals, Also I have some Fiber crap they want me to eat, then all the Vitamins. Then water, and non-soda, low sugar drinks. I drink the Ice drinks which my NUT said was a good thing for me, and it has lots of vitamins in it. I also quit smoking, and that doesn't help. This past sunday I went to a family thing at my husbands families house and they are straight up Puerto Rican, and man I love the food they cook, so i said I would have a small plate, and thats what I did, but it was pork which is amazing, and rice, and I had some meatballs, which they always make, and man the next day I was like ugh I was paying for it!!! I haven't had soda in like forever, so I can't say I drink soda anymore, but don't worry you have 6 more days to get back on track. My surgery is the same day and I told myself, after sunday I am not screwing up!!! I am not giving in I don't care if I have to hide in my house!!! lol, so just put in your effort for the last week before carry your drinks on you everywhere, I brought enough to work for the days I am here till my surgery, and then I have what I need at home. The only thing I have to worry about now is Saturday is my sons birthday party and it's a pizza place, so I just have to be strong. You can do this!!! Good luck!!!

Discouraged with "planning" meals
pupichupi replied to SlowlybutSurely's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Do you like Soup? What kind of Veggies will you eat? You really gotta try to change your taste for food, cause your right you won't be able to sustain on crackers alone. How long has it been since you have had surgery? I am sorry to say but no one said this was going to be easy, but if you take one day a week and cook a few meals you know your going to eat and that you like, and then make enough that you can alternate days, and freeze them so when you get home all you have to do is take it out put it in the microwave and warm it up for yourself that is the way I am going to do it, and it will make it easier for you. I get out of work now and I am on my pre-op diet and I go home and cook for 2 kids and my husband, and I am not making 2 meals every night after I have my surgery. So I figure if I take saturday or sunday and make different things and freeze them, and all I have to do is choose what I want to eat for that day, I will be good to go??? Try it??? Maybe you will like that better? Good Luck!!! -

pupichupi replied to Big Silly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You aren't chewing enough, when you eat something sing your ABC's one letter for each chew!!! That's approx. how long you should be chewing. It also depends on the person too, some people take longer to move on, are you drinking any Protein shakes? As long as your getting in your protein you should be good, but just make sure that you talk to your doctor the next time you go. Good Luck!!! -
Getting Close, working my 2 week diet, and doing great, a week from today I will be bypassed!!!

Panicked, No Weight Loss
pupichupi replied to TheOldMeAgain's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey TheOldMeAgain, don't stress out!!! You will just put more stress on you for tomorrow, you know what you have done, and just explain to the doc what happen? I can't believe he has you doing 2 shakes at a meal time, I am only doing one shake at each meal and liquids in between? I started last wednesday and I have to go till next wednesday, as my surgery is on wednesday the 19th. This is the purpose of having the surgery, cause your body may just not lose the weight without this extra help. I feel ya really I do.
