I have been heavy my entire life. I suceeded at loosing the weight (68lbs- on WW) when I was 24 years old and within 3 months of hitting my goal I was pregnant with my first child and gained 72 lbs. I have constantly battled my weight since then. Over the past 13 years I have had two more children and battled my weight constantly. Being a stay home mom seemed to give me plenty of time to eat and make all my family's favorites, and I had a million excuses why I couldn't excercise. I managed to lose 42 lbs in 03' and 31 in 05' again on WW, only to gain it all back plus more because of my emotional eating habbits and a difficult marriage. After a very difficult divorce following DV and Audultery (not me) I became severly depressed and lost 30 lbs in one month from not eating at all, I thought I looked great, but I was very unhappy. When I entered into counseling and began getting past the hurts I gained 50+ lbs. In May of 2009 I obtained my dream job and my life began to come together again... I am currently happy with everything except my weight. I headed up a Biggest Looser contest at work last fall and intended on winning, but my efforts did not last long. I began the challenge at 267, and ended it 12 weeks later at 257. It was then that I decided I was getting the band. I had scheduled it in 2006 but my ex thru a fit and made me cancel it... so I had already done my research and felt it was my last hope. I began talking to peope who have had the band and looking into Doctors. I decided to go to Mexico becasue of the price. I chose Doctor Lopez Corvala because of his history, staff helpfullness and price. I scheduled my surgury for two weeks after I made my decision and ate all my favorite foods the two weeks prior to surgery and my weight jumped quickly back to 265-267... but i didn't worry about it for a couple weeks, something I'm totally not used to. My best friend and I flew into San Diego California on January 7, 2010 and were picked up at the airport and taken to an absolutely beautiful hospital (Hospital Angeles) in Tijuana. I had my pre-op that evening and surgery at 11am the next morning. I was up and walking within a few hours and felt great. I had a little gas that was uncomfortable, but no real pain as I had expected. The service and the hospital were fantastic. On January 9th I had my swallow x-ray and talked to the doctor again and was discharged at noon and driven to a beautiful hotel. My friend and I shopped in TJ with another patient we had met the rest of the day, returning to the hotel about 7pm. I was exhausted, but felt fine. The next morning we were picked up at the hotel and driven back across the border to the airport and flew home.I am not 3 days post-op and I went to work today and have to say I felt great most of the day. I began to get a little tired about 1pm and lasted until 3pm when it was time to come home... I took a nap and felt great. I have been hungry, clear liquids doesn't fill a person up and I am looking forward to eating something with substance again... ok... i cheated a little and had a sugar free pudding today... the 11th...Looking forward to being healthy sometime soon!
