I had my surgery April 16th 2008. It changed my life forever! I could never seem to control my overeating, no matter how hard I tried. NowI have the tool that I needed to help me reduce my portions and stay on I made the choice to keep my surgery private with just my husband, daughters and best friend knowing about it.  I feel it is me who makes the choices to eat right and do my part to exercise and didn't want all the credit to go to the lapband.  It feels great to go from a size 3x top to a med! Was a 18 pants now a size 8. I feel so much better, but I can say I was never down on myself even when I was larger. Life is a blessing no matter what size you are!
