    Humana Select Insurance

Sorry...I forgot to add. I had my surgery June 30th. I'm done about 41 pounds (I'm a slow loser , but have lost over 37 inches). Deb

    Humana Select Insurance

Hi there, I'm a teacher too...in Tampa. My surgeon is Dr. Jessee. She was wonderful. Humana has been great (and that is not something I would say lightly having dealt with them for years)! I had my surgery at Palms of Pasadena and they too were FANTASTIC! My surgery was outpatient and I took about a week to recover. I hope you can get a date during the break...I'll keep my fingers crossed. Good Luck, Deb
  3. Glad surgery went well!!

    Humana Select Insurance

I have a Humana HMO Select and it took about a week for approval. Good Luck!

    Port Soreness

That soreness where your port is will get better! My port hurt so much I couldn't lay on my side. I'm 3 months out and one day the pain just stopped (and no it didn't take the whole 3 months for it to disappear). Hang in there...you will feel better soon. :blushing:

Size 22 to a 16, what to do about my clothes??

How about trying a consignment shop? You could get rid of your old suits and maybe find some 'new' ones that will hold you over while you lose.
  8. HI there, I live in the Tampa area as well and had my surgery with Dr. Jessee too! When I had to do my 6 month supervised diet I would just make an appointment with my PCP each month. As a matter of fact I always see the PAC in the office...she is fantastic. She filled out all my paperwork, wrote my letter and everything. The practice is Bayside Physicians Group. The doctors are Christine Torres and Christopher Blazejowski. They have several PACs, but Kim Gore rocks. You should call and see if they take your insurance and new patients. They have been my PCP for almost 10 years. I hope this helps! Good luck, Deb
  9. I've been using shea butter. I bought it at Whole Foods. I've had two friends have surgeries and use she butter to lessen their scars. It works!

    Is this me?

You look fantastic!! Keep up the great work.
  11. I am so sorry for your loss.
  12. Saw your pictures on the June Bug area...you have a beautiful family!!

  13. At first, I only told my boss and a couple of my friends at work, but after being banded two weeks ago and returning to work I pretty much told everyone else. I'm pretty much an open book. After doing this I found out that another co-worker was in the middle of her 6 month pre-approval stage. She was thrilled that she can ask me questions. Whether or not people disapprove or act like I'm taking the easy way out I don't care. This is about my life and my health and my taking control. Of course, you should do and share only what you are comfortable sharing! Best wishes to all my LB friends! Deb

    Makeover For Me!

Woo hoo!! What a great post...good for you. Thanks for the inspiring words. I can't wait to see your pictures either. Deb
  15. I was approved after the first request. I have Humana and my request was not sent to them until I had completed my 6 month supervised weight loss, psych eval and visit with the nutritionist. Good Luck, Deb

    Scar Therapy

I swear by 100% shea butter. I bought it at a health food store. It's gotten rid of past scars for me and as soon as I am healed enought (just banded on the 30th) I plan on using it again! Deb
  18. I too was banded on June 30th!! I'm feeling pretty good so far...I have pain at my port site, but other than that the gas has been bearable. I actually left my house for the first time since surgery today. My husband took me to Walgreens...woo hoo. But, it was nice to get out of the house and move around in public (as opposed to doing laps around my house). I hope all the other recent bandsters are doing well. Deb
  19. I was banded on the 30th as well! My gas pain hasn't been too bad, but the incision where my port is located is the most painful for me so far. I was told to ice it and not use heat. I was told that for full liquids I could have Jello, thinned grits or cream of wheat and even sugar free pudding. I know that all doctors are different, but these are all listed on my post-op instructions. I was also able to shower yesterday. No pools or baths until I get the okay from my doc. I hope this helps you!! Deb

    Blog

THE SWEET SPOT Here's a link to the blog that I have been reading for the past six months. BG was banded a year a go and you can go back and read from when she started her 6 mo. supervised diet. It's been so helpful! Deb:thumbup:
